To install Hao’s Special Works (HSW) upgrades in GTA Online, take a vehicle that supports HSW to Hao’s Special Works at the LS Car Meet and buy the options shown for that vehicle. On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Hao’s Intro Race is no longer required to access the HSW Upgrade Service. Availability depends on your game edition and the vehicle you bring.
Where to find Hao’s Special Works
Hao’s Special Works is a vehicle-upgrade service inside the LS Car Meet. Bring an eligible personal vehicle to the Car Meet and use Hao’s modification service. The official update notes confirm the location and service, but do not document current button prompts or every menu label.
How to install HSW upgrades
- Check your platform and edition. Rockstar identifies HSW upgrades for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and later notes identify HSW-capable vehicle content for GTAV Enhanced PC. Do not assume HSW is available in every PC edition or on older console versions. See Rockstar’s Title Update 1.70 notes and Title Update 1.72 notes.
- Bring an HSW-capable vehicle. HSW is not available for every car. Rockstar update notes name examples including the Benefactor Stirling GT, Överflöd Entity MT, Bravado Banshee GTS, and Vapid Firebolt ASP. Those examples are not a complete compatibility list, and eligibility can vary by vehicle and update.
- Go to the LS Car Meet and open Hao’s service. Enter with your eligible personal vehicle and access Hao’s Special Works vehicle-modification service.
- Select and purchase the HSW options offered for that vehicle. The in-game menu shows what is available for the car you brought. Current prices and a complete list of upgrade categories are not established in the cited update notes.
Do you still need to complete Hao’s Intro Race?
No, if you play on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar’s Title Update 1.64 notes say: “Players no longer need to complete Hao’s Intro Race to access the HSW Upgrade Service and mods (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only).” The statement is platform-specific; do not assume the same rule applies to every edition. Read the Title Update 1.64 notes.

Rockstar documents the additional GTA+ routes in its Title Update 1.72 notes. The LS Car Meet remains the straightforward route if you do not meet those GTA+ conditions.

Why HSW upgrades may not appear
- The vehicle is not eligible. HSW support is vehicle-specific. Try a car identified as HSW-capable in Rockstar’s notes, such as the Stirling GT listed in the Title Update 1.61 notes, or check later update notes for the vehicle you own.
- Your edition or platform may not support the feature. Rockstar’s platform references distinguish PS5 and Xbox Series X|S from older console versions, and its PC references specifically identify GTAV Enhanced PC for later HSW-capable content.
- You are checking a different workshop route. The Vinewood Club Garage and mansion Vehicle Workshop options are documented for GTA+ members, with the mansion route also requiring ownership of the workshop upgrade.
- The option is not available for that particular car. Rockstar’s cited notes do not provide a complete current compatibility list or every car’s available options. Check what the in-game HSW service offers for the vehicle.
