You can join a PlayStation party from a PC by connecting to your PS5 or PS4 with Sony’s PS Remote Play app, then joining through the console’s party menu. PlayStation Plus game streaming on PC does not support Party Chat, so it is not a PC party-chat client.
Join a PlayStation party from your PC with Remote Play
PS Remote Play shows and controls your console on a Windows PC or Mac. Once connected, use the console interface to join the party. You need access to the PS5 or PS4, Remote Play enabled, and the same PlayStation account on the computer and console. See PlayStation’s Remote Play setup instructions.
Check the requirements
- Windows: Windows 10 (64-bit) or Windows 11, a 7th-generation Intel Core processor or later, 2 GB RAM, at least 100 MB of storage, a display resolution of 1024 × 768 or higher, a sound card, and a USB port.
- Mac: PlayStation lists macOS Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura, Sonoma, Sequoia, and Tahoe; the app requires at least 40 MB of storage and 2 GB RAM.
- Console and account: Update the console’s system software, enable Remote Play in its settings, and sign in on the computer with the PlayStation account used on that console. The console must be on, or configured to wake over the network from rest mode.
- Controller: PlayStation lists DualSense, DualSense Edge, and DUALSHOCK 4 controllers, and instructs users to connect the controller to the computer by USB.
- Network: PlayStation recommends at least 5 Mbps upload and download speeds as standard, and at least 15 Mbps for best performance. These are recommendations, not guarantees.
- Voice: You need a microphone for voice chat; PlayStation gives the computer’s built-in microphone as an example.
Remote Play has restrictions, including during broadcasting and when launching unsupported games. If a connection or feature is unavailable, check PlayStation’s Remote Play requirements and limitations.
Connect to the console
- Install the official PS Remote Play app on your PC or Mac.
- On your PS5 or PS4, enable Remote Play in the console settings and make sure its system software is current.
- Connect a supported controller to the computer with a USB cable.
- Open Remote Play and sign in with the same PlayStation account you use on the console.
- Select PS5 or PS4. When the connection succeeds, the console screen appears on your computer.
Open the party menu and join
- PS5: Press the PS button, open Game Base, select Parties, then choose a party under Joinable. Select Join Party or Request to Join, depending on the party. PlayStation documents this route in its party and Remote Play instructions.
- PS4: Open the function screen, select Party, and choose the existing party from the list.
Which other PC options work—and which do not?
| Option | Can it join a PlayStation party from PC? | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| PS Remote Play | Yes, through the connected console’s party interface. | Displays and controls a PS5 or PS4 from a computer. A console must be available and Remote Play enabled. |
| PlayStation Plus on PC | No. | Streams supported games, but PlayStation says Party Chat functions are not currently supported. See PlayStation Plus on PC support. |
| PlayStation App | Not established for PC by the cited instructions. | PlayStation documents creating a party and starting voice chat in the app, but the instructions do not establish a PC app version. See PlayStation App features. |
| Discord | Not as a PlayStation party. | You can start or join Discord voice chat on a computer or mobile device and transfer it to PS5. It remains Discord chat, not PlayStation party voice chat. |
Use Discord on PS5 only if you want a Discord call
To move a Discord conversation from your computer to PS5, start or join the call on the computer and select the option to join on your PS5. PlayStation distinguishes Discord voice chat from party voice chat. Party features such as Share Screen and Share Play belong to PlayStation parties, and Discord and party voice chat cannot be active at the same time. See PlayStation’s guides to Discord voice chat on PS5 and party voice chat on PS5.
