Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallConvert every playlist file to the same constant output frame rate before sending it to YouTube, then check timestamps and audio at clip boundaries. This gives the encoder a stable video cadence, but it does not automatically fix bad timestamps or audio drift.
Why mixed frame rates can cause trouble
A playlist may contain files at 24, 25, 29.97, 30, or other frame rates. If the live encoder switches cadence as each file starts, its output timing can become inconsistent. A constant-frame-rate (CFR) output avoids passing those different source cadences straight through to the live encoder.
Frame rate and timestamps are related but distinct. A clip can have the intended frame rate and still start at an unexpected presentation timestamp (PTS), or have audio that drifts against the video. Treat cadence conversion, timestamp alignment, and audio sync as separate checks.
Choose one output frame rate for the whole stream
Pick a target cadence for the channel based on the motion in the library and the output you want. Rates such as 25, 30, or 60 fps can make sense in particular contexts, but there is no universal best rate for a mixed library. YouTube accepts live output up to 60 fps; that is a ceiling, not a recommendation to convert everything to 60 fps. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance lists supported frame rates and other ingest settings.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Use the same target for every playlist item and configure the live encoder to keep emitting that cadence, regardless of each file’s native rate.
Normalize each file with FFmpeg
Inventory the playlist first
Before converting, identify each file’s actual frame rate, duration, audio stream, dimensions, timestamps, and whether it is progressive or interlaced. Do not assume a filename or export label tells the whole story. FFmpeg’s documentation for its video filters describes the available conversion tools.

Use the fps filter for conventional CFR conversion
The FFmpeg fps filter drops or duplicates frames as necessary to produce a constant output rate. For example, to create a 30 fps video-only output from a progressive source:
ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -vf "fps=30" -an output-30fps.mp4
This example deliberately omits audio, so it is not a complete conversion for a stream with sound. If audio is needed, preserve and check it separately; do not assume that changing video cadence resolves audio timing. Frame dropping or duplication can also change the feel of motion, so inspect the result, especially with gameplay containing fast camera movement or repeated animation.

Use interpolation only when its trade-offs suit the footage
FFmpeg’s framerate filter interpolates frames rather than simply dropping or duplicating them. It may make some conversions appear smoother, but can introduce motion artifacts or change the character of the movement. For interlaced material, FFmpeg advises deinterlacing before using this filter and re-interlacing afterward if required. Do not apply interpolation to every source without testing representative footage.
Keep timestamps and audio continuous across clips
Check that each file joins the playlist at the intended point in the timeline. If inputs in a multi-input FFmpeg filter scenario begin with different PTS values, FFmpeg documents using setpts=PTS-STARTPTS to align their starting timestamps. That is a scenario-specific example, not a universal command to add blindly to every playlist; the correct filter graph depends on how the playlist is assembled.

Listen and watch at the beginning, middle, and end of files, with extra attention to transitions. Confirm that audio neither restarts nor overlaps at a boundary, and check lip sync or other clear audio-video cues. FFmpeg documents separate filters for audio and video timestamps, reflecting that each timeline may need its own diagnosis. If drift appears, inspect timestamps rather than assuming a new frame-rate conversion will fix it.
Configure the live encoder for a stable YouTube output
Once files are normalized, make the software or hardware encoder emit one consistent resolution, codec, bitrate mode, frame rate, and keyframe cadence. YouTube’s current encoder guidance specifies RTMP or RTMPS ingest, supports H.264, H.265, and AV1, recommends constant bitrate (CBR), allows up to 60 fps, and recommends a two-second keyframe interval with a four-second maximum. Its bitrate guidance varies by codec, resolution, and frame rate, so choose the appropriate row in YouTube’s settings table rather than using one bitrate for every output.

Software encoding offers filter control; a dedicated hardware encoder can simplify an installation. Neither one inherently fixes different source frame rates: normalize the feed and verify the encoder’s output in either setup.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Test boundaries and monitor stream health
- Build a representative test playlist. Include each important source cadence, gameplay with motion, audio, and transitions between files.
- Check the encoded output. Confirm that the output stays at the chosen frame rate and that audio remains continuous and in sync through boundaries.
- Run a YouTube test. Check YouTube’s stream-health display and encoder messages while the test is running. YouTube advises testing with movement and audio similar to the intended stream: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
- Test recovery and session handling separately. Verify what happens if the encoder disconnects, YouTube drops the stream, or the scheduled session needs a restart. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that does not establish uninterrupted 24/7 operation for one session. See Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
A short test can reveal obvious cadence changes or sync faults, but it cannot prove a setup will run continuously for 24/7.
Troubleshooting sync problems
| Symptom | Likely area to inspect | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Motion judders after a file starts | Source-to-target frame-rate conversion | Confirm every file uses the chosen output cadence. Review whether the fps filter’s frame dropping or duplication suits the footage; test interpolation only if its artifacts are acceptable. |
| Audio is in sync at first but drifts later | Audio timing or timestamps | Inspect audio and video timestamps independently and check a longer test. A constant video frame rate alone does not guarantee correct audio timing. |
| Audio or video jumps at a playlist boundary | Clip start timestamps or playlist transition behavior | Inspect PTS and confirm that clips join at the intended timeline position. Use timestamp alignment only where the actual filter graph and input timing call for it. |
| Stream health reports an ingest problem | Encoder output settings or connection | Check RTMP/RTMPS ingest, supported codec, bitrate guidance, frame rate, and keyframe interval against YouTube’s current settings. Review encoder messages and YouTube’s stream-health feedback. |
| Stream ends or archive behavior is unexpected | Session duration and recovery plan | Test the channel’s scheduling, reconnection, archive, and restart behavior in the actual setup. The documented automatic archive behavior covers streams under 12 hours, not guaranteed 24/7 continuity. |
