To keep a hotel room tour live overnight, set up a YouTube encoder stream, enter its stream URL and key, check the preview and public watch page, and test the exact setup before leaving it unattended. Keep a local recording: YouTube may not archive streams longer than 12 hours, and its guidance recommends monitoring audio and video rather than relying on a special overnight mode.
Choose a streaming method for the room tour
YouTube supports both webcam and encoder streaming. For a fixed room-tour camera view, an encoder-based setup lets you send a camera or video source through encoding software and connect it to YouTube using the stream URL and stream key. You can configure auto-start and auto-stop in stream settings. A webcam is another supported option and may be simpler if you already have a computer and webcam. Before you start
- Make sure live streaming is enabled for your channel and create or select the stream in YouTube Studio.
- Have access to the camera or other video source, encoding setup, and a reliable way to keep them powered and connected. YouTube does not establish hotel Wi-Fi or power reliability, so check the conditions where you will stream.
- Use a tripod or webcam only if useful for your setup; neither is a YouTube requirement.
Set up the YouTube encoder stream
- In YouTube Studio, create or select the live stream and open its Live Control Room settings.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the broadcast into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the key as private; anyone with access to it may be able to send video to your stream.
- Configure auto-start or auto-stop in the stream settings if those controls fit your workflow. They govern starting and stopping the broadcast; they do not guarantee that the encoder, network, or power will remain available.

Test the complete setup before leaving it overnight
Run a test using the same camera, encoder, network, room audio, and power arrangement you plan to use. YouTube recommends monitoring stream quality; its guidance does not describe an unattended-continuity guarantee. YouTube live streaming tips
- Confirm the preview is present and the picture is framed as intended, with adequate lighting and no accidental view of private or sensitive material.
- Open the public watch page on another device or browser and verify that viewers can access the stream.
- Listen to the audio. Check for room noise, television or radio audio, and unexpected conversations.
- Start local recording and confirm the file exists and continues to grow. Check that the recording location has enough available storage for the planned session.
- Check the encoder and connection during the test for interruptions. The available YouTube guidance provides no hotel-specific Wi-Fi reliability figure, equipment runtime, or maximum dependable overnight duration.
Protect the recording and set expectations about long streams
YouTube says it can automatically archive a live stream that is less than 12 hours; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends making a local archive backup. Therefore, if you need a recording, record locally rather than treating YouTube’s archive as your only copy. YouTube Help: Archive live streams

Archive capture and DVR are separate viewer features. YouTube says DVR may be limited or unavailable for live streams longer than 12 hours, so viewers may not be able to rewind normally during a long broadcast. YouTube Help: Turn on DVR on live streams
Check room audio and content rights
Hotel-room background audio can create copyright problems even when it is incidental. A television or radio playing in the room may contain material you do not have rights to stream. YouTube says unresolved third-party content matches can interrupt or terminate a live stream, and its terms require creators to have the necessary rights to streamed content. Troubleshoot an overnight stream
