Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFirst determine whether the audio is consistently early or late, or whether the gap grows as the stream runs. A measured, fixed offset may be corrected with FFmpeg’s input-scoped -itsoffset; growing drift points to a continuing timestamp or clock problem, which a one-time offset will not solve. Check the actual stream after each change.
Tell a fixed offset from growing drift
Listen to the stream or a local preview and note which leads, roughly by how much, and whether the discrepancy stays about the same or increases over time. A fixed gap and a widening gap are different symptoms: the first may reflect input start-time alignment; the second calls for investigating timestamp progression and capture timing.
FFmpeg’s ffplay documentation says -stats reports audio/video synchronization drift. Its documented default master clock is audio. These statistics help observe playback behavior; they do not identify the capture device, clock, or timestamp responsible. Confirm any correction on the actual streaming path as well as in a local preview.
Collect the command, timestamps and clock details
Before changing options, preserve the complete command and uncut console output. Record the FFmpeg version, operating system, input order and formats, stream mapping, reported start times, and relevant warnings. These details can affect how timestamps are interpreted and which input an option applies to.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For multiple live capture devices, check whether their timestamps derive from the same clock. The FFmpeg Project’s ffmpeg documentation says -isync is expected to work when the source timestamps of the two inputs derive from the same clock source. Do not assume that changing input order will fix sync in every setup: a 2020 FFmpeg-user mailing-list report described about half a second of audio delay after a webcam and PulseAudio input order was changed, but that is one reported setup, not a general rule.
Correct a measured, constant offset with -itsoffset
The FFmpeg Project describes -itsoffset as “Set the input time offset.” It adds the specified duration to timestamps for the input it precedes. A positive offset delays that input. Use the measured amount, put the option immediately before the input it is meant to affect, and verify the result on the stream.

ffmpeg -i video_source -itsoffset OFFSET -i audio_source
... output
This is an illustrative command shape, not a tested universal fix. Replace the placeholders with your actual inputs and measured duration. If audio is ahead, delaying the audio input may help; if audio is already late, a positive audio offset makes the error worse. Check the option’s behavior in the documentation for your installed FFmpeg version.
Use -isync only when its conditions fit
-isync adjusts an input’s timestamps by the difference between its start time and a reference input’s start time. The documentation says no adjustment is made if a starting timestamp is absent, and expected results depend on both inputs deriving timestamps from the same clock source.

There is also a documented interaction with -copyts: when using -isync with -copyts, -start_at_zero must also be set. These options change timestamp handling, so do not add them casually. First establish that the inputs have usable start timestamps and the required shared clock source.
If the gap grows, investigate ongoing timing
A constant offset changes the starting relationship; it does not establish that two independent clocks stay aligned. Compare the observed gap near the start with the gap later in the stream, and inspect timestamp continuity and capture behavior. Change one thing at a time and measure again.

A 2020 FFmpeg-user discussion included an aresample=async=1 example, but that historical community example does not establish a universal live-stream fix. Do not add the filter by default: check its behavior and side effects against your FFmpeg version and the evidence from your stream.
Choose the next step by symptom
| What you observe | What to try | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| A stable, measured offset | Apply -itsoffset to the input that needs delaying, then measure again. |
A wrong sign or target input can increase the error; a fixed offset does not resolve ongoing drift. |
| Separate inputs with valid start timestamps and a shared clock | Consider -isync against the reference input. |
It cannot adjust an input whose start timestamp is absent; observe the -copyts and -start_at_zero interaction. |
| You need to observe playback drift | Use ffplay with -stats. |
Statistics show playback behavior, not the root cause. Check the actual stream too. |
| The gap changes as the stream runs | Investigate capture clocks and timestamp progression before choosing a correction. | Do not treat a fixed offset or a historical resampling example as proof of a drift fix. |
Check the YouTube side without relying on old forum advice
Keep diagnosis focused on the specific FFmpeg inputs, timestamps, and capture clocks. Historical mailing-list advice about adding silent audio is not a current YouTube Live rule.
