No particular bitrate is guaranteed by JioFiber: test the computer and connection you will use, then lower the stream’s demands if network-dropped frames rise.
What determines whether a continuous stream stays live
Three links have to hold up: OBS must encode and send the video, your home network must carry it, and the route to YouTube’s ingest server must remain stable. A speed-test result can help you assess upload capacity, but it cannot guarantee a stable connection to YouTube throughout a long broadcast.
Use Ethernet from the streaming computer to the JioFiber router if practical. YouTube advises leaving roughly 20% of available upload bandwidth unused; allow further room for other devices or uploads sharing the connection. These are planning guidelines, not a JioFiber service guarantee.
Choose an OBS bitrate for your upload connection
YouTube’s current H.264 encoder recommendations list the following settings. They are YouTube recommendations, not results measured on a JioFiber line. YouTube’s encoder settings also cover supported codecs and other encoder guidance.

The headroom column is arithmetic using YouTube’s 20% guidance: recommended bitrate divided by 0.8. It does not include additional capacity needed for other household upload traffic. If your measured upload cannot sustain a setting with room to spare, reduce resolution, frame rate, or bitrate and test again rather than treating the recommendation as a minimum JioFiber speed.
Set up and test the YouTube encoder workflow
- Prepare the broadcast in YouTube Live Control Room. Create or select the live stream, then copy its stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance describes the workflow.
- Enter the ingest details in OBS. Open OBS streaming settings and enter the stream URL and key for the YouTube stream. Treat the key like a password; if it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room.
- Choose compatible encoder settings. YouTube’s current guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS, H.264/H.265/AV1, CBR, up to 60 fps, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval (not over four seconds). It recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingest. Pick options supported by OBS and appropriate to your connection; the highest available output is not automatically the best choice for a long session.
- Run a representative test before going public. Start the encoder and check YouTube’s preview and stream health. Include the kind of moving video and audio the playlist will contain, since a still image or silent test may not reveal the same problems.
- Watch OBS during the test and broadcast. Observe its connection status and dropped-frame counters. If network-dropped frames climb, follow the network troubleshooting steps below before changing unrelated encoder or rendering settings.
Play a playlist continuously in OBS
A YouTube playlist viewed by an audience is ordinary YouTube playback; it does not itself create a live broadcast. To broadcast playlist content, OBS must receive the video and audio locally as sources and send the resulting program to YouTube.

The available official guidance establishes YouTube’s encoder and network requirements, but not the current click-by-click OBS interface for looping a local playlist. OBS versions and playlist-source or plugin workflows can differ, so confirm the controls in the OBS version and source workflow you use rather than relying on an assumed menu path. Before leaving a stream unattended, verify that the source advances through the playlist, returns to the beginning as intended, and keeps audio and video in sync during a full test.
Diagnose OBS dropped frames on JioFiber
First identify which OBS statistic is changing. Network-dropped frames indicate that the connection to the ingest server is unstable or cannot sustain the configured bitrate; they are not the same problem as encoder or rendering lag. - Network-dropped frames are increasing: lower the bitrate or output demand, pause other uploads, use Ethernet if possible, and check the router, cables, and connection. Compare behavior at a lower bitrate.
- Wi-Fi is in use: try a wired connection. OBS notes that Wi-Fi may be unstable for streaming and recommends wired networking. An Ethernet cable is an option if your computer and router can be connected; it will not fix ISP-side congestion or a poor route to ingest.
- The problem persists after lowering bitrate: review VPNs, security software, network-prioritization utilities, and network drivers. OBS documents Windows-only network optimizations, TCP pacing, and dynamic bitrate. Test one change at a time and restore defaults if it does not help; dynamic bitrate may reduce quality and does not repair the underlying connection.
- OBS shows no network drops, but viewers report buffering: viewer connections and devices can differ. OBS’s buffering guidance notes that reducing bitrate may improve access for some viewers.
Jio’s FAQ describes using Jio NetVelocity on a Jio Set Top Box to check upload speed, latency, network quality, and Wi-Fi or LAN performance. It also suggests restarting the router, using LAN, or running MyJio diagnostics if results are below expectation. These checks can help diagnose the home network, but a Set Top Box test is not a measurement of the streaming computer’s sustained route to YouTube ingest. Test from the actual OBS computer and connection as well. Jio’s guidance does not establish a special OBS setting or guaranteed upload rate for an individual JioFiber subscriber. Plan for long broadcasts and archives
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a continuous stream longer than that will be retained as one complete archive. If you need a recording, plan local recording and archive storage separately, and confirm the current YouTube workflow for the stream you are running. See YouTube’s live-stream creation guidance.
