To link an EA Account to Xbox, open an EA game on your console and sign in with the EA Account you want to keep using. If prompted, enter the one-time verification code sent to that account’s email. Then check EA Account settings > Connected Accounts to confirm the Xbox gamertag appears.
Link your EA Account to Xbox
- Check for an existing link. Sign in to the EA Account you intend to use and open Connected Accounts. If your Xbox gamertag is already listed, it is linked to that EA Account.
- Open an EA game on Xbox. Sign in to the Xbox profile you want to use with EA online services.
- Sign in to your EA Account. Follow the game’s sign-in prompt and use the primary EA Account you intend to keep. EA says that if both accounts were created with the same email address, they should connect automatically when the game loads on the console. EA’s account-linking instructions explain the process.
- Verify the account if asked. Check the email associated with the EA Account for a one-time code, then enter it in the game on Xbox.
- Confirm the connection. Return to EA Account settings and open Connected Accounts. The Xbox gamertag should appear there. EA allows only one EA Account to be connected to a platform at a time.
If your Xbox account is linked to another EA Account
Do not create or switch to a different EA Account as a first step. The Xbox link may already belong to an older EA Account, even if you no longer use it. Try to recover that account or regain access before changing the connection. EA’s account recovery and access guidance is the appropriate starting point.
EA says linked accounts can be switched up to three times in a rolling year on its account-linking page. Its troubleshooting guidance also describes restrictions tied to how recently a platform account was linked. Because eligibility depends on the account and link history, check the account-specific help before assuming you can unlink and relink.
What unlinking can affect
Unlinking does not move progress to a different EA Account. EA warns that changing the account connected to your Xbox profile can affect access to game progress, DLC and expansions, memberships or subscriptions, rewards, and in-game purchases. Some entitlements may remain on the EA Account to which the platform was first linked. Read EA’s unlinking instructions before proceeding.

If the Unlink button is gray or disabled, EA says the account is not eligible to relink. Do not assume that support can override the restriction; consult EA’s current guidance for the account’s situation.
Fix common linking problems
“Invalid” or “ineligible” account error
EA recommends resetting the EA Account password when this error appears. If the sign-in flow asks for two-factor authentication, enter a current valid code. After you can sign in, restart the Xbox and launch the game again.

You cannot access the EA Account email or sign in
Use EA’s account recovery or account-update process. If you still cannot access the account, contact EA Support. EA advises having the EA Account email, the linked console ID or gamertag, and purchase invoice numbers or product codes available.
Your child profile shares an Xbox subscription
EA says child or other limited Xbox sub-accounts that share a subscription cannot connect to EA Accounts to play online. The account limitation is separate from the normal linking steps.

What you need
- An Xbox profile and access to an EA game on the console.
- The EA Account you want linked, including its sign-in details.
- Access to the email address on that EA Account if a verification code is requested.
