To live stream from your phone, enable live streaming on an eligible, verified YouTube channel, then open the YouTube app and tap Create > Live. Add your title and settings, check your framing and connection, and tap Go live. YouTube requires at least 50 subscribers for mobile live streaming, and first-time activation can take up to 24 hours—so check eligibility well before an event.
1. Check that your channel can go live from mobile
YouTube’s mobile live-streaming requirements include all of the following:
- At least 50 subscribers.
- A verified channel with live streaming enabled.
- No live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- A supported device: Android 8.0 or later, or iOS 8 or later.
- You must be at least 16 to live stream under YouTube’s general eligibility rules.
After you enable live streaming for the first time, activation may take up to 24 hours. Do not leave this check until the day of your stream. Channels with 50–999 subscribers may have a viewer limit, and their live archives default to private. After a channel reaches 1,000 subscribers, YouTube says it may take several weeks to remove the audience limitation. Check YouTube’s current mobile live-streaming requirements and general live-streaming eligibility before you plan a public event.
A restriction on one channel is not something to work around by switching to another channel. Resolve the restriction through YouTube’s account or policy process.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
2. Set up the stream in the YouTube app
- Open the YouTube app and sign in to the channel that will stream.
- Tap Create > Live.
- Enter a clear title and choose the stream details, including visibility and audience settings.
- Choose whether to start now or schedule the stream for later. Review the settings before sharing a scheduled link.
- When you are ready, tap Go live. To end the broadcast, tap Finish.
After the stream, YouTube creates an archive. You can change its visibility or delete it. Verify the archive’s audience setting instead of assuming it is public; smaller eligible channels may have archives set to private by default. YouTube’s mobile setup guide describes the app flow and scheduling options.
Rehearse before inviting viewers
If Practice Mode is available on your account, use it for a private rehearsal. The feature is rolling out, so it may not appear for every creator. Otherwise, make a short unlisted test and check the picture, sound, framing, and connection from another device before you share the public stream link.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
3. Choose portrait or landscape before you start
Decide what shape your viewers need to see before going live: portrait is 9:16 and landscape is 16:9. A vertical stream can appear full-screen in YouTube’s mobile vertical live experience and may be found while viewers browse Shorts. Portrait suits phone-first viewing and subjects that fit a tall frame. Landscape generally gives more room for a wider scene and can suit viewers watching on computers or TVs.
Lock the phone’s rotation after choosing the orientation, and frame the shot accordingly. YouTube says a vertical stream cannot be added after a stream has started. Its dual horizontal-and-vertical workflow, including options such as center crop, fit to phone width, and stacked layout, is managed through Live Control Room; that is separate from simply rotating a phone in the mobile app. See YouTube’s live-streaming format guidance for the distinction.

4. Prepare your phone, battery, and connection
- Charge before you begin. YouTube gives an estimate of “1% phone battery is used per 1 minute of stream,” but actual battery drain depends on the phone and conditions. For a long broadcast, keep a compatible power bank nearby.
- Turn on Do Not Disturb. This reduces interruptions from calls and notifications while you are live.
- Test the connection where you will stream. Check that the video and audio reach the test broadcast reliably; move to a place with a steadier connection if they do not.
- Keep the phone stable. Place or hold it so the frame does not drift, and avoid covering its microphones.
These are YouTube’s mobile filming recommendations, not guarantees of a particular battery life or network performance. See YouTube’s mobile live-filming tips.
5. Make the camera, light, and sound work for you
Choose the camera based on what you need to monitor
The rear camera generally provides better visuals. The front camera makes it easier to see yourself and follow chat while streaming. If you have a second device, you can use the rear camera for the broadcast and keep the other device nearby to monitor chat.

Use soft light and clear audio
Face a window or use soft, even light; avoid harsh direct sun that can create strong shadows. Keep yourself close enough to the phone microphone to be heard, and make sure your hand or case is not covering it. In a loud environment, YouTube suggests considering an external microphone. Check that any mic you choose is compatible with your phone; it is optional, not a requirement for going live.

For a planned event, YouTube recommends sharing the stream link at least 48 hours in advance. Give viewers the time, subject, and any useful context so they know what to expect. Afterward, an eligible mobile stream may offer a Short highlight. YouTube’s stated criteria include a vertical stream made in the YouTube mobile app, lasting 10 minutes to 12 hours, with chat enabled; it must not be a screencast or marked Made for Kids and must meet YouTube’s safety standards. Availability can vary, so check whether the highlight option appears for your account and stream. Details are in YouTube’s live promotion guidance.

Copyright and audience settings still matter
Going live from a phone does not change YouTube’s content rules. Use video, music, and other material you own or have permission to use, and choose the audience setting accurately. Review the stream’s visibility before broadcasting and the archive’s visibility afterward. A test should be unlisted or private when you do not want the public to find it.
Fix common mobile live-streaming problems
| What happens | What to check or do |
|---|---|
| The Live option is missing or will not start | Confirm the channel has at least 50 subscribers, is verified, has live streaming enabled, has no restriction in the last 90 days, and is using a supported OS. If live streaming was just enabled, allow up to 24 hours for activation. |
| Viewers cannot find the stream | Check that visibility is set to Public if the event is intended for public viewing. Confirm you shared the correct stream link; an unlisted test is not publicly discoverable in the same way. |
| The picture is sideways or poorly framed | End the stream if necessary, choose portrait or landscape intentionally, lock rotation, and reframe before starting again. Do not expect to add a vertical version after the broadcast begins. |
| Audio is quiet, muffled, or interrupted | Uncover the built-in microphone, move closer, reduce nearby noise, and make a short test. Consider a phone-compatible external microphone in a loud setting. |
| The battery is dropping quickly | Start with a full charge, reduce avoidable phone activity, and connect a compatible power bank if needed. YouTube’s per-minute battery estimate is not a guarantee for your device. |
| The archive is private | Open the archive’s visibility settings and change them if appropriate. Smaller eligible channels may have archives default to private. |
