To use a different EA Account, EA’s documented route is to unlink the platform account from the current EA Account and then link or sign in with the one you want. Check the account link first: Apex progress cannot be transferred between EA Accounts.
How to switch to a different EA Account in Apex Legends
EA’s account-linking guide describes an in-game unlink-and-relink flow for players who want to use another EA Account. The exact prompt can vary by platform:
- Start Apex Legends.
- Select Use another account, then select Continue to proceed with unlinking. On Steam, the prompt may instead say Unlink and Create New.
- Confirm the unlink. The game returns to its start screen.
- Enter the credentials for the EA Account you want to use. If needed, choose the option to create an account.
These prompts are part of EA’s documented flow, not a sign-out from every launcher or console session. EA says linked accounts can be switched up to three times in a rolling year, so verify the account you want before confirming. See EA’s account-linking instructions.
Check your account link before unlinking
Apex Legends progress is permanently associated with the EA Account, and EA says it cannot be transferred to a different EA Account. For cross-progression, the platform account must be linked to the EA Account that holds the progress. Review EA’s cross-progression guidance before changing the link.

EA also warns that unlinking a platform account used for Apex can cause problems with Battle Pass leveling, item unlocking, and other game functions. That warning appears in EA’s Portuguese-language unlinking guidance.

If your Apex progress appears to be missing
- Confirm that the console or Steam account is the one you intend to use.
- Check EA’s Connected Accounts to see whether that platform account is linked to the EA Account holding your Apex progress. EA notes that a Steam account linked to the wrong EA Account may need correction.
- Use EA’s lost-progress troubleshooting steps before unlinking anything.
