To loop prerecorded Hindi videos in a continuous YouTube live stream through Switchboard Live, create and repeat the playlist in streaming software, send that software’s output to Switchboard, then start the YouTube destination. Switchboard’s guidance places the looping control in the encoder software—not in Switchboard itself.
Where the loop happens
A playlist of prerecorded videos is not the same as a YouTube playlist that viewers play on demand. For a live broadcast, the streaming software plays the source videos in sequence and repeats them; Switchboard receives that live video feed and routes it to YouTube. Switchboard’s article on continuous streaming, published July 24, 2018, names XSplit as an example and says to set a playlist in XSplit or another preferred streaming application to loop: Continuous Streaming: Running Your Live Video On a Loop. Treat XSplit as an example from that article, not as a verified current menu path.
Set up the Hindi video playlist and broadcast
- Prepare the videos and playlist. Use streaming software with media-playlist playback. Add the Hindi videos in the order you want, then enable its loop or repeat option. The exact control and menu name depend on the software and version; Switchboard’s cited article does not give current encoder-specific steps.
- Enable YouTube Live. Live streaming must be enabled for the channel before it can be connected. Switchboard’s YouTube connection guide says activation can take up to 24 hours: How to connect your YouTube account.
- Add the YouTube destination in Switchboard. In the intended Stream Group, add or select the connected YouTube destination. Switchboard’s setup instructions cover the Stream Group and destination workflow: Initial Setup Guide.
- Connect your encoder to Switchboard. In the relevant Switchboard workflow, copy its Stream URL and Stream Key into the streaming software’s stream settings. The Initial Setup Guide recommends CBR, a 2-second keyframe rate, and 30 or 60 FPS. These are Switchboard’s setup recommendations, not a guarantee that every source, destination, or encoder configuration will be suitable; use settings compatible with your video and YouTube’s current requirements.
- Verify the incoming feed before going live. Start the encoder’s output to Switchboard. Confirm that the Confidence Monitor displays video and the status indicates that Switchboard is receiving it. This connection check does not itself start the YouTube destination. Once the feed is verified, start the YouTube destination in Switchboard.
If you are scheduling a YouTube event
A scheduled YouTube event can require a separate destination setup. Switchboard’s event guide describes creating the event in YouTube Studio, then adding it to Switchboard as a custom RTMP destination using that event’s Stream URL and Stream Key: How to create a scheduled event in YouTube Studio. The guide says titles and descriptions entered in Switchboard do not push to custom RTMP destinations such as scheduled YouTube events. Check the current instructions and event details before starting; the cited guide may not reflect later interface changes.
Rights, bandwidth, and replay expectations
- Only stream videos and audio you have the right to broadcast. This workflow does not establish permission for any particular Hindi song, film clip, devotional recording, or other material.
- A continuous broadcast uses bandwidth for as long as the encoder sends video. Plan for a reliable connection and monitor the feed rather than assuming a short upload or playback test proves an all-day setup will remain stable.
- Do not assume YouTube will save a replay of an indefinitely long stream. Switchboard’s 2018 article cautions that platforms differ in recording behavior and time limits; check YouTube’s current rules and the event’s settings for your intended duration.
Common problems and fixes
- The same video does not repeat. Check that looping is enabled on the playlist or media source in the encoder. Switchboard is receiving and distributing the feed; its cited guidance does not describe a Switchboard playlist-repeat control.
- Switchboard is not receiving video. Verify that the encoder uses the Stream URL and Stream Key for the correct Switchboard workflow, and that its output is running. Then check the Confidence Monitor and receiving status before starting the destination.
- You cannot connect YouTube. Confirm that live streaming is enabled on the channel. If it has just been enabled, allow up to 24 hours for activation, as noted in Switchboard’s YouTube connection guide.
- The scheduled event has the wrong title or description. For a custom RTMP destination, do not rely on title and description fields entered in Switchboard to update the YouTube event. Set and verify the event details in YouTube Studio.
- The stream stops or no replay appears. Check the encoder’s output and connection, and review the applicable YouTube event settings and current duration rules. A continuous-stream setup is not a promise that the platform will retain a replay.
