To loop a prerecorded webinar as a YouTube Live stream, play the video in OBS Studio using a Media Source with Loop enabled, then send OBS’s output to a stream you create in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Preview the picture and sound, then start the event in the control room. This broadcasts a recording as a live stream; it does not make the webinar interactive or newly performed.
Before you schedule the stream
Check that the channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable live streaming well before the customer event. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
Confirm you have rights to everything in the recording
Check the rights for the entire webinar, not just the presentation: guest footage, music, third-party clips, slides, product demonstrations, and other included material may have separate rights. YouTube requires stream providers to have the rights needed to use content on Google services, and live content must follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Review YouTube’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines for live streams before broadcasting.
Decide whether you need a YouTube archive
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but streams over 12 hours may not be captured at all. Keep a local recording if you need a dependable copy; do not promise customers that a long broadcast will produce a complete YouTube archive. The available YouTube guidance does not establish that one live event can run indefinitely, so check current Live Control Room controls before planning an all-day or continuous event. See YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.
- Create an encoder stream, or schedule one for a future time if you want to promote the event in advance.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key. You will enter these in OBS. YouTube describes the stream key as a password and address for your stream, so keep it private and reset it if you think it has been exposed. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
Set up the webinar loop in OBS
- Open OBS and choose the scene you want to use for the broadcast.
- In the Sources panel, select +, then add a Media Source.
- Choose the local webinar file. OBS documents common formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, and WebM; if a file does not play properly, check OBS’s current documentation and the file itself.
- In the Media Source properties, enable Loop. It is off by default; with it enabled, OBS starts the file again after playback ends. See the OBS Media Sources guide.
- If needed, add scene sources such as a title slate, logo, or customer-support information. Keep overlays clear of the webinar, and do not imply that a presenter is live or that viewers can get real-time answers if that is not true.
Looping is controlled by OBS’s playback source. YouTube receives the outgoing encoder feed; the cited YouTube setup guidance does not describe a YouTube-side setting for looping a prerecorded file.
Connect OBS, preview, and start the event
- In OBS, open Settings, then Stream. Select YouTube if it is available, or enter the server URL and stream key copied from Live Control Room.
- Start streaming from OBS so it sends the webinar scene to YouTube.
- Wait for the incoming stream preview in Live Control Room. Confirm the correct video and audio are present before starting the scheduled event there. For an unscheduled event, use the applicable Go Live control after previewing.
- Check the event on its watch page and, where practical, on a mobile device. YouTube recommends setting up encoder streams ahead of time and checking the stream before the event.
Monitor the broadcast and plan its end
Watch and listen during the stream, especially when the webinar loops back to its opening. YouTube recommends upload capacity at least 20% above the total stream bitrate. That is platform guidance, not a guarantee against every connection or encoder issue; avoid saturating the connection with other uploads. For archive planning, use a local recording rather than relying on YouTube to capture a stream lasting longer than 12 hours.

Troubleshooting common problems
- The channel cannot start a live stream: check channel verification and whether a live-streaming restriction is in effect. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- The video stops instead of replaying: reopen the Media Source properties in OBS and enable Loop; the setting is off by default.
- YouTube does not receive the OBS output: confirm that OBS is using the stream URL and key from the intended Live Control Room event. If the key may have been shared, reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
- The preview has the wrong picture or no sound: verify the selected OBS scene and Media Source, then check the file’s playback and audio in OBS before starting the event.
- The stream is unstable: compare the connection’s available upload capacity with the total stream bitrate and keep the 20% headroom YouTube recommends. Check whether other activity is consuming upload bandwidth.
- The event is missing a complete YouTube archive: YouTube warns that streams over 12 hours may not be captured. Retain a local recording and do not treat the online archive as guaranteed for a long event.
