How to Loop Devotional Videos on YouTube With AWS Elemental MediaLive in India

Use MediaLive’s file-input loop behavior to keep an authorized devotional video streaming to YouTube, then verify the encoder connection, stream health, rights, and AWS costs.

You can loop an authorized devotional video on YouTube around the clock by using AWS Elemental MediaLive with a file input configured to repeat when it reaches the end. MediaLive sends the live output to YouTube using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. The exact output protocol and endpoint settings must be checked for your configuration; the documented workflow is not a guaranteed one-click YouTube preset.

What you need before configuring MediaLive

  • An MP4 devotional video stored in an Amazon S3 bucket or available from an HTTP(S) server. MediaLive documents both as file-input sources. AWS MediaLive file input documentation.
  • An AWS account with access to configure MediaLive inputs and channels. Review current service charges for your intended configuration before deploying; costs depend on configuration and usage. AWS Elemental MediaLive pricing.
  • A YouTube channel that can use live streaming, plus the stream URL and stream key created or selected in YouTube Studio. YouTube: Create a live stream with an encoder.
  • Permission to use every part of the video, including devotional music, performances, recordings, images, and footage, for a continuous YouTube live stream.

The workflow is technically described in AWS and YouTube documentation without an India-specific exception identified there. That does not settle Indian rights or licensing questions: check the permissions and territorial requirements applicable to your repertoire and use.

Configure a looping file input in MediaLive

  1. Prepare the source. Upload the authorized MP4 to an S3 bucket or make it available from an HTTP(S) server that MediaLive can reach. Confirm that the file is complete and plays as intended before using it as a continuous source.
  2. Create a file input. In the AWS Elemental MediaLive workflow, create an input for the file source and provide its S3 or HTTP(S) location. AWS documents supported input types and protocols in its file-input guide.
  3. Set the file end behavior to loop. Configure the file input’s sourceEndBehavior to loop. AWS describes this option as causing the file to repeat so it can be streamed indefinitely. Check the current MediaLive console or API reference for the precise configuration available to your channel: MediaLive Inputs API reference.
  4. Create and configure a channel. Attach the file input to a MediaLive channel and configure its live output, including the video and audio encoding settings appropriate for the source and YouTube’s current ingest requirements. The AWS documentation establishes the file-loop behavior and RTMP output capabilities, but does not establish a universal ready-made YouTube preset.
  5. Set the destination carefully. Configure the output destination using the YouTube ingest details and a protocol supported by both the configured MediaLive output and the YouTube ingest endpoint. Verify endpoint, protocol or TLS compatibility, codec, and channel settings in the AWS console and YouTube Live Control Room before launch.

Connect MediaLive to YouTube and verify the stream

  1. Create or select a YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a stream or reuse an appropriate existing one. YouTube supplies the stream URL and stream key for encoder-based streaming. Keep the key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
  2. Enter the ingest details in the encoder destination. Use the URL and key shown for that YouTube stream in the destination configuration supported by your MediaLive output. YouTube recommends RTMPS for standard encoder ingestion. Confirm that the configured AWS output can connect using the selected endpoint and protocol rather than assuming compatibility.
  3. Start a test and check the preview. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup workflow and confirm that the incoming picture and sound are correct in Live Control Room before making the stream public. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream health while live. See YouTube encoder settings and live-streaming tips.
  4. Monitor the live output. Check YouTube’s stream-health indicators and the MediaLive channel for issues. Verify that playback resumes at the beginning of the file after it reaches its end; the file input’s configured end behavior is what enables the repeat.
  5. Plan for archiving. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a continuous stream longer than that will have an archive; make separate recording and retention plans if you need a copy.

Choose an ingest protocol: RTMPS or HLS

For a standard encoder workflow, YouTube recommends RTMPS. HLS is an alternative only when the encoder output and YouTube endpoint are configured to meet YouTube’s HLS requirements. The right choice depends on protocol support in the configured MediaLive output, endpoint compatibility, latency tolerance, and operational complexity.

Protocol When it may fit Important requirements or trade-offs
RTMPS Standard encoder ingestion; YouTube recommends it. Verify that the MediaLive output and destination support the selected secure endpoint and protocol.
HLS An alternative when the configured encoder output supports YouTube’s HLS ingest requirements. YouTube specifies 1–4 second TS segments, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, HTTPS POST/PUT, and no encryption other than HTTPS. YouTube notes that HLS has higher latency than continuous RTMP ingestion. See YouTube: Set up an HLS stream.

Do not apply HDR-specific HLS settings to a normal SDR devotional loop unless the source and encoder actually require HDR. For standard encoder settings, YouTube’s documentation specifies H.264 video and AAC audio. Check its current encoder settings guidance against the source and selected ingest path.

Check copyright and live-stream rights before going public

YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the provider to have the necessary rights for the live content, including music rights. A devotional subject does not by itself make a recording, performance, or video free to broadcast. Check the rights for the specific recording and all visual material, including whether the permission covers livestreaming, worldwide availability, and repeated use.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can cause the stream to be replaced, interrupted, or terminated. YouTube also warns that even licensed content may be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel. See YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions and copyright guidance for live streams.

Costs and operational fit

MediaLive charges depend on the configuration and usage, so there is no reliable single price for a 24/7 devotional loop without calculating the intended setup in AWS’s current pricing model. Estimate the channel, output, and expected run time using the current MediaLive pricing page before committing. A cloud encoder can suit an organization that needs control over a configured broadcast workflow, but it involves AWS setup and ongoing configuration choices. Check whether that operational control is worth the setup and expected service cost for your channel.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is simply to keep an uploaded devotional video looping on YouTube, StreamNeo is a simpler alternative to configuring an encoder: upload the video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The cloud keeps the stream running, so nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streams of uploaded videos, not camera broadcasts. See StreamNeo or plans and pricing. Troubleshooting common problems

  • YouTube receives no video: Check that the MediaLive channel is running, the destination URL and stream key match the selected YouTube stream, and the configured output protocol and endpoint are compatible. Recheck the preview in Live Control Room.
  • The file plays once and stops: Verify that the file input’s sourceEndBehavior is set to loop and that the channel is using that input.
  • There is no sound or the picture is rejected: Compare the output codecs and settings with YouTube’s current encoder requirements; standard configurations use H.264 video and AAC audio. Confirm the source itself has the expected audio and video.
  • The feed is delayed more than expected: If using HLS, account for its higher latency compared with continuous RTMP ingestion and check the segment and playlist settings against YouTube’s requirements.
  • YouTube interrupts or replaces the stream: Check YouTube’s stream-health notices and any copyright match. Confirm that your rights cover the content and that the rights owner has allowlisted your channel where required.
  • The final cost is higher or lower than expected: Recalculate using the actual channel configuration and run duration in AWS’s current pricing model; do not rely on a generic estimate for a different setup.
