To loop a Hindi video as a YouTube Live stream, FFmpeg can repeat the file with -stream_loop -1. Put that input option before the file’s -i, pace file playback with -re, and send the output to the RTMPS URL and stream key from YouTube Live Control Room. NGINX RTMP is optional: use it when you need a separate RTMP server to receive, relay, or process a stream—not simply to make a file repeat.
What each part does
- FFmpeg reads the video, loops it, and can encode or process its audio and video.
- YouTube Live Control Room supplies the ingest URL and stream key for the broadcast.
- NGINX RTMP provides an RTMP server layer for ingest, relay, or processing when your setup calls for one. It is not the file-looping mechanism.
There is no Hindi-specific loop setting in the documented workflow. A Hindi-language file needs the same checks as any other file: rights, codec, resolution, frame rate, audio layout, loop point, and available encoding and network capacity.
Prepare the video and YouTube stream
Check the source file
Use a video you have permission to stream. Before broadcasting, check that the file has the expected video and audio streams, resolution, frame rate, codecs, and a loop point that will not create an unwanted pause or abrupt jump. The sources here do not establish a command for inspecting a particular file, so choose inspection options appropriate to your installed FFmpeg build.
Create the live stream and protect its key
- In YouTube Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream.
- Open the stream’s Stream settings and copy the ingest URL and stream key.
- Keep the key private. Anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your stream.
- Use RTMPS where available. YouTube recommends encrypted RTMPS ingest; if an SSL connection fails, check the scheme and server shown in Live Control Room and follow YouTube’s port guidance.
Use the URL and key YouTube currently displays for your stream. Do not assume that a sample endpoint or an older saved key is still the right one. See YouTube’s RTMPS streaming instructions.

Loop a file directly to YouTube with FFmpeg
The following is a command shape, not a tested, copy-and-run command. Replace the placeholders with the correct values and add mapping and encoding options that suit the actual file and YouTube’s current ingest guidance:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i "hindi-video.mp4" [encoding and mapping options] -f flv "RTMPS_URL/STREAM_KEY"
Understand the input options
-stream_loop -1asks FFmpeg to loop the corresponding input indefinitely. It is an input option, so put it before that input’s-i. FFmpeg documents-1as infinite looping;0means no loop.-rereads the file at its native frame rate. It helps pace file input when sending it as a live output; it does not repair a damaged file, prevent encoding overload, or restore a dropped connection.-inames the input file. The example assumes a local MP4 filename, but the right input and stream mapping depend on your source.-f flvselects the output container commonly used for this RTMP-style ingest workflow. The example’s endpoint formatting is illustrative; use the RTMPS URL and key supplied for your stream and account for differences in endpoint format, source layout, and FFmpeg build.
Choose encoding settings for the actual source
Do not paste one fixed bitrate or codec setting into every command. YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS; H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video; frame rates up to 60 fps; constant bitrate (CBR); and AAC or MP3 audio. Match the settings to the source and the resolution and frame rate you intend to send.

As examples from YouTube Help’s guidance accessed October 3, 2026, H.264 at 1080p30 has a listed minimum bitrate of 5 Mbps and recommended bitrate of 14 Mbps; H.264 at 720p30 has a listed minimum of 3 Mbps and recommended bitrate of 8 Mbps. These are YouTube’s recommendations for those specific combinations, not universal values. YouTube recommends a 2-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed 4 seconds. Check the current YouTube encoder settings and bitrates before choosing values.

Stream copy may be appropriate only if the source’s streams and settings meet YouTube’s ingest requirements. Otherwise, configure FFmpeg to encode. Available encoders and accepted options depend on your installed FFmpeg build. Confirm that the selected video and audio streams are mapped as intended rather than assuming every file contains one compatible track of each.
When to add NGINX RTMP
For a direct file-to-YouTube broadcast, FFmpeg can read and loop the file itself; NGINX RTMP is not inherently required. Add NGINX when you need a distinct server to accept an incoming RTMP feed, relay it, or fit it into a processing setup. That adds another service to configure and maintain, and does not replace FFmpeg’s looping option.

Installation depends on the NGINX distribution and module you choose. The open-source nginx-rtmp-module README describes its project’s build and configuration approach. F5’s NGINX Plus RTMP dynamic-module documentation covers the NGINX Plus package, not a universal installation recipe for every NGINX build. Follow instructions for your exact distribution and version; do not assume the Plus package applies to open-source NGINX or vice versa.
Test the loop and monitor the live output
- Test before the intended broadcast, using representative dialogue, music, and motion from the video.
- Watch YouTube’s stream health and confirm that the picture, sound, resolution, and frame rate are what you expect.
- Observe the transition where the file repeats. If the end and beginning do not join cleanly, edit the source or choose a more suitable loop point.
- Monitor the FFmpeg process and the server or computer running it. A loop option does not guarantee uninterrupted operation, prevent a process failure, or reconnect after every network or ingest interruption.

Compare options by where the process runs, whether you need a separate ingest or relay, whether the machine can encode the chosen format, whether upstream bandwidth is sufficient, and who will monitor and restart the process if needed. The available sources do not support a cost comparison for a computer, VPS, or NGINX setup.

Troubleshoot common problems
FFmpeg sends only one pass
Check that -stream_loop -1 appears before the -i for the file you want to repeat. The option applies to an input; placing it after that input may not loop it as intended.
YouTube does not receive the stream
Verify the URL and key against the stream’s current Live Control Room settings, check that the key has not been mistyped or exposed, and confirm you are using the RTMPS scheme and server shown by YouTube. If the connection reports an SSL issue, follow YouTube’s current server and port guidance.
The output has no audio or the wrong picture
Check which audio and video streams the file actually contains and whether FFmpeg is mapping the intended streams. Confirm that the chosen codecs and audio format match YouTube’s current ingest guidance, then verify the result in YouTube stream health.

The stream buffers, drops frames, or stops
Check whether the machine can sustain the selected encoding workload and whether its upstream connection can sustain the output bitrate. -re controls file pacing, not encoder performance or network reliability. Review FFmpeg’s output and YouTube’s stream health, then test a suitable bitrate and configuration for the actual resolution, frame rate, and codec.
The loop has a gap or jarring restart
Inspect the end and beginning of the source. Infinite repetition repeats the file boundary; it does not blend or edit that transition. Adjust the video or loop point if the join is audible or visible.
Keep rights and channel eligibility in view
Use content you own or have permission to broadcast. Repeating a video does not establish that you hold the necessary rights, nor does a successful ingest determine whether a particular channel or piece of content is eligible under YouTube’s policies. Check the applicable copyright and monetization rules for your content and channel before leaving a stream running.
