To loop a Kannada educational video on YouTube Live from a server, run FFmpeg with -stream_loop -1 before the input file, then send the encoded output to the RTMPS server URL and stream key shown in YouTube Live Control Room. The loop can continue indefinitely while the server process and connection remain healthy; you are responsible for monitoring and recovery.
Before you start
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours, and the channel must not have a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Enable it ahead of time. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the requirements.
- A server with FFmpeg installed, a stable connection with enough upload capacity for the chosen stream settings, and the video file stored where FFmpeg can read it.
- A video you have the right to broadcast, including its slides, illustrations, music, and any embedded clips.
The steps below cover one file. A multi-file playlist needs its own tested transition and looping setup; the FFmpeg option shown here establishes how to loop one input, not a production-ready playlist command.
Prepare the YouTube broadcast
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and create or schedule a broadcast.
- In the stream settings, copy the server URL and stream key into your encoder configuration. Treat the key like a password: do not post it, commit it to a public repository, or include it in logs you share. If it is exposed, replace it in Live Control Room.
- Use the RTMPS server URL supplied by YouTube. YouTube’s ingest documentation specifies the
rtmpsprotocol, a valid ingest endpoint and application name, and port 443. See the RTMPS ingestion guide.
Loop one video with FFmpeg
Run a command shaped like this on the server. FFmpeg documents -stream_loop -1 as infinite looping; place it before the input’s -i option.
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i "/path/to/kannada-lesson.mp4"
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -b:v 5000k -maxrate 5000k -bufsize 10000k
-pix_fmt yuv420p -g 60 -c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "rtmps://INGEST_ENDPOINT/APP/STREAM_KEY"
This is an illustrative template, not a tested command or universal recommended profile. Replace the file path, endpoint, application name, and key with your actual values. Confirm your FFmpeg build supports the selected encoder and that the input plays with the intended Kannada audio and subtitles. Keep credentials out of shell history and shared logs where possible.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose output settings for the source
Do not use the sample’s 5000k bitrate or -g 60 without checking the source frame rate, resolution, and current YouTube recommendations. YouTube’s encoder settings page, accessed in 2026, recommends H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate; up to 60 fps; and a two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. For H.264, its recommended ranges include 5–14 Mbps for 1080p30 and 3–8 Mbps for 720p30. Recommendations vary by codec, resolution, and frame rate; YouTube also transcodes live streams into viewer formats. Check the current YouTube encoder settings for your target output and test against your available upload capacity.
In the example, -b:v, -maxrate, and -bufsize are encoder rate-control parameters; they are not proof that the chosen settings meet YouTube’s current recommendations. The -g value sets a keyframe cadence in frames, so its interval in seconds depends on frame rate. Configure constant bitrate and a keyframe interval appropriate to the output rather than copying numbers blindly.

Start and monitor the live stream
- Start FFmpeg and check that it connects to the YouTube ingest server and continues encoding without errors.
- Watch the preview and stream-health feedback in Live Control Room. Check representative motion, picture, and audio—including Kannada speech and subtitles—before the intended audience arrives.
- If the scheduled broadcast requires it, start the broadcast from Live Control Room after the encoder feed is ready.
- Monitor both YouTube’s stream health and the server process during the session. A looping input does not restart a crashed FFmpeg process or restore a failed server connection by itself.
- When the session is over, stop the encoder and end the broadcast intentionally. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that cited guarantee does not cover longer streams. See YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.
Protect educational content and plan for audience safety
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including other broadcasts. If it detects material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, warn you to stop, temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream, or terminate it following a strike. A license alone may not prevent interruption: YouTube says the rights owner should add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyrighted content in live streams.
For a Kannada lesson, check permission for the complete program—not only the spoken lesson. Slides, illustrations, background music, and embedded footage can each have separate rights. Kannada language or educational purpose alone does not establish permission to broadcast a work.

YouTube says creators must be at least 16 to live stream. Its guidance also notes that live streams featuring 13–15 year olds who are not visibly accompanied by an adult may have live chat disabled, and the account may temporarily lose access to live chat or other features. If minors appear in the stream, plan supervision and presentation accordingly. See YouTube’s live-streaming restrictions.
Server responsibilities and alternatives
What you manage with FFmpeg
Running FFmpeg on your own server gives you control over the file and encoding settings, but you must provide stable server uptime and upload bandwidth, protect the stream key, inspect logs, and recover the process or connection when something fails. The cited documentation does not provide a server-sizing formula or uptime guarantee; requirements depend on your source and chosen output settings.

Can I loop a Kannada video without converting its language or subtitles?
Yes. The loop option repeats the input file; language does not change how FFmpeg loops it. Verify that the source’s audio and subtitle presentation are correct before streaming.
