To repeat a video for viewers, use YouTube’s Loop control; that repeats playback but does not make the video a live broadcast. To present prerecorded material as a YouTube live stream, send it through an encoder using YouTube’s own stream URL and key. Muvi Live’s documented RTMP workflow sends an encoder feed to Muvi Live; it does not establish a direct Muvi-to-YouTube route for looping prerecorded video.
Choose the outcome you actually need

The key distinction is the destination and viewing experience: a YouTube video watch page with repeated playback, a YouTube live event, or a Muvi Live stream shared through Muvi’s own link, HLS URL, or embed code.
Loop a YouTube video or playlist for viewers
On a computer
- Open the video’s YouTube watch page.
- Right-click the video player and select Loop. YouTube says, “The video will repeat continuously.” (YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists on YouTube.)
For a playlist
- Open the playlist.
- Use the playlist’s Loop control to repeat it.
YouTube also documents Repeat controls for televisions and game consoles. This playback feature repeats content for each viewer; it does not send a live feed or create a live event.
Send prerecorded content to YouTube as a live stream
This is an encoder workflow, not the watch-page Loop control. YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming. The official setup uses YouTube’s stream URL and stream key, then starts streaming from the encoder. The cited instructions do not specify how to configure a particular encoder to repeat a file, so check the current documentation for the encoder you choose.

1. Check channel eligibility and activation
- YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days.
- YouTube says streamers must be at least 16 years old.
- For first-time live streaming, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours. Enable it in advance rather than expecting to go live immediately.

2. Create the event and get YouTube’s ingest details
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream.
- Open the stream settings and copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key into the encoder’s corresponding destination fields.
- Treat the stream key like a password: keep it private, and do not share or publish it.
Use the credentials shown for the YouTube event. Muvi’s URL and key belong to the separate Muvi workflow and are not substitutes. YouTube’s Manage live stream settings page covers stream settings and credentials.

3. Configure, test, and start the encoder
- Choose the prerecorded source and configure the encoder to send it to YouTube using YouTube’s own stream URL and key. If you need continuous repetition, confirm how your encoder handles file looping; the cited YouTube guide does not name a file-loop control.
- Start the encoder, then check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before relying on the broadcast.
- Test the setup ahead of time and monitor stream health while live. Use YouTube’s current guidance for supported encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
What Muvi Live’s documented encoder setup does
Muvi’s RTMP instructions describe a distinct destination workflow. They direct the user to create a Muvi Live item, select Encoder or Streaming Software – RTMP, copy Muvi’s stream URL and key from Stream Info, configure an encoder, start the Muvi stream, and then start the encoder. Muvi says, “Muvi Live enables you to broadcast high-quality live streams with minimal setup.” (Muvi Help Center: How to Livestream Using Muvi Live via Encoder – RTMP.)
The documented Muvi sharing options are a shareable link, HLS URL, or embed code. This explains how to send an encoder feed to Muvi Live and share that Muvi stream; it does not demonstrate that Muvi’s credentials send the feed to YouTube or that Muvi Live loops a prerecorded file directly to a YouTube channel. Plan for long broadcasts and archives
- YouTube says DVR may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. Do not promise viewers a complete rewind for a very long live broadcast. See Turn on DVR on live streams.
- YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be archived. It recommends keeping a local backup recording if an archive matters. See Archive live streams.
Troubleshooting
The video repeats, but there is no live event
You used YouTube’s player Loop control, which repeats playback for viewers. Create a live event and send the source through an encoder if the content must appear as a broadcast.
YouTube does not receive the encoder feed
Check that the encoder is using the stream URL and key shown in YouTube Studio for the intended event, not Muvi’s credentials. Confirm that the encoder is running, then inspect the Live Control Room preview and stream health.

You cannot start a first live stream
Check channel verification and live-streaming restrictions, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation, as YouTube advises. Also confirm that the streamer meets YouTube’s stated minimum age requirement.
The Muvi stream is not appearing on YouTube
Muvi’s documented RTMP setup targets Muvi Live and provides Muvi sharing outputs. It does not establish a direct YouTube destination. For a YouTube broadcast, configure the encoder with YouTube’s own stream URL and key.

A long stream has no complete rewind or archive
This can reflect YouTube’s stated duration limits: DVR may be limited or unavailable beyond 12 hours, and streams over 12 hours may not be archived. Keep a local recording if you need a dependable copy.
