Before streaming, make sure you have permission to use every video and its music: looping a file does not grant streaming rights, and YouTube may interrupt a live stream when it detects third-party content.
Choose the right OBS source

OBS lists common Media Source video formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM, and audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV. Check the OBS Project Media Sources documentation if a file does not load or you need details on supported sources.
Set up one Punjabi music video to repeat
- Open OBS Studio and select the scene that will carry the stream.
- In the Sources panel, select + and choose Media Source.
- Name the source if desired, then select OK.
- In the source properties, select the local video file using the file browser.
- Enable Loop, then select OK.
- Check the OBS preview to confirm the video appears and plays. Adjust its size and position in the canvas if necessary.
The loop setting controls playback of that source; it does not itself start a YouTube broadcast or guarantee that the broadcast will stay online.
Set up a playlist of videos
- Install VLC before configuring the source. If OBS is 64-bit, install 64-bit VLC so the source can appear correctly.
- In the OBS scene’s Sources panel, select + and choose VLC Video.
- Add the local media files you want to play to the source playlist and arrange them in the desired order.
- Enable Loop Playlist if it is not already enabled. Turn on shuffle only if you want the order randomized.
- Confirm playback in the OBS preview and check that each playlist item loads.
Media Source is the simpler choice for a single file. VLC Video is intended for a playlist and adds playlist looping and shuffle controls; it also requires VLC. OBS describes VLC Video as a way to create a playlist of items, similar to an image slideshow. See the OBS source documentation for the source options.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, create or open the live stream you intend to use and obtain its stream key from the live control room.
- In OBS, open Settings and select Stream.
- Choose YouTube as the service, then enter or connect the stream key using the options shown in your OBS version.
- Select Apply and OK. Check the OBS preview, audio levels, and the YouTube live control room before starting the broadcast.
- Start streaming from OBS, then confirm in YouTube Studio that the stream is arriving and that the video and sound are correct.
OBS and YouTube Studio labels can vary by version and account interface. Keep the stream key private; anyone with access to it may be able to broadcast to your channel. Follow YouTube’s current live-stream setup prompts if the control room presents a different flow.
Clear rights before streaming Punjabi music videos
Having a video file or being able to loop it in OBS does not mean you have permission to broadcast it. YouTube says it scans all live streams for matches to third-party content. If it identifies a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn the streamer; if the content remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. A copyright or Community Guidelines strike can also terminate a live stream. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

- Get permission that covers the specific music and video and the intended use in a live YouTube stream. Permission for a recording, event, or other platform may not cover this use.
- Ask the rights holder whether your channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube says even licensed third-party content can be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted.
- Do not assume that a “free” label or credit in the description prevents a Content ID match.
- Check the terms of any Creative Commons or other license and confirm they cover the exact stream use. YouTube identifies permission, applicable copyright exceptions, public domain, and Creative Commons terms as possible bases for using material, but says none guarantees avoiding a claim or strike. See Copyright on YouTube.
YouTube describes safe music as public-domain music or music used with the copyright owner’s permission. It suggests sources such as the YouTube Audio Library, original compositions, Creator Music in certain regions, and licensed third-party music; check the license for the particular use. Its safe-music guidance does not make a label or attribution a substitute for rights.
YouTube’s live Content ID matching feature is described for eligible Content Manager partners with global rights and exclusive ownership of the live content. YouTube says the stream cannot include third-party content such as background music. It is not a workaround for ordinary channels to rebroadcast commercial Punjabi music videos. What 24/7 operation requires
A loop restarts playback; it does not keep a computer powered, maintain an internet connection, recover every OBS or YouTube failure, or guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast. The OBS source documentation explains playback controls but does not promise 24/7 uptime for a local computer, network, or YouTube stream. If you run OBS yourself, plan to monitor the computer, connection, software, and live control room, and be ready to restart the stream after an interruption.
Troubleshoot common playback and stream problems
- VLC Video is missing from the source menu: Install VLC and check that its architecture matches OBS; OBS specifically notes that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- The video stops instead of repeating: For one file, open Media Source properties and enable Loop. For multiple files, use VLC Video and check Loop Playlist.
- A playlist item will not play: Confirm it is a local file in the playlist and that OBS can access it. Test the file on its own in a Media Source to isolate whether the issue is the file or playlist.
- The video appears but has no sound: Check the source’s audio behavior and the OBS audio mixer meters, then verify the stream’s audio in YouTube Studio before relying on the broadcast.
- YouTube warns, replaces, or interrupts the stream: Treat this as a possible rights match, not a loop-setting failure. Review YouTube’s notice, secure rights covering live streaming, and ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting.
- The broadcast stops even though the file is still looping: The source loop and the live connection are separate. Check OBS, the local computer, internet connection, and YouTube Studio, then restart the broadcast if required.
