To keep a prerecorded SaaS feature demo playing as a YouTube Live broadcast, loop the video or playlist in an encoder such as OBS Studio, send that feed to YouTube Live, then embed the live watch page on your product website. YouTube Live does not loop a recording on its own: the loop happens before the video reaches YouTube. If you only need a recorded demo to repeat in a webpage player, use YouTube’s IFrame player parameters instead; that creates no live broadcast.
Choose between a live broadcast and a looping video
First decide whether the site needs an actual live event. YouTube describes live streaming as a way to interact with an audience in real time through video and chat. A live watch page can suit a site that wants a live status or broadcast surface, but it requires an encoder feed. A regular embedded video is simpler when the goal is only uninterrupted demo playback.
| Option | What it does | Best fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo, hosted continuous streaming | Loops uploaded video or a playlist from the cloud to YouTube Live. | Teams that want an always-on broadcast without keeping a local computer running. | It is a YouTube-only service; review the product and plan details at StreamNeo. |
| OBS Studio on a maintained computer | Loops a local video or playlist and sends an encoder feed to YouTube Live. | Teams that want scene, overlay, and encoder control. | The computer, network connection, and encoder process have to remain available and monitored. |
| Regular looping YouTube embed | Repeats a published video or playlist in a website player without creating a live broadcast. | Teams that need repeating playback rather than a live page. | It is not a live feed; a single-video loop needs the same video ID in both the `videoId` and `playlist` parameters. |
For a do-it-yourself live setup, OBS Studio is the documented local option below. Its media source can loop a single file; its VLC source can loop a playlist, with VLC installed. The sources establish loop controls, not a service-level uptime guarantee. For hosted continuous streaming, compare a provider’s current capabilities, limits, pricing, rights handling, and terms before relying on it.
Check YouTube channel readiness
- The channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days.
- Enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours, so do this before planning a launch.
- YouTube recommends setting up the encoder in advance and testing the preview, watch page, mobile playback, audio, video, and archive.
These eligibility and setup requirements are described in YouTube’s live streaming tips and its encoder setup guide.

Loop a SaaS demo in OBS Studio
Loop one recording
- Open OBS and add a Media Source to the scene that will carry the demo.
- Select the local demo video file. OBS Media Source supports common formats including MP4 and WebM.
- Enable Loop in the source properties, then confirm the video restarts when playback finishes. OBS documents the setting as controlling whether the file plays again after playback completes.
- Arrange the source in the scene and check that any intended overlays, text, and audio are visible and audible.
Loop a sequence of demos
- Install VLC on the computer running OBS; the VLC Video source requires it.
- Add a VLC Video source to the scene and populate its playlist with the demo files in the desired order.
- Enable Loop Playlist and test the transition from the last playlist item back to the first.
- Check each clip’s audio level, aspect ratio, and transition behavior before starting the live event.
OBS’s Media Sources documentation covers local media and VLC source behavior.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule an encoder-based live stream in Live Control Room.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the stream into the encoder’s streaming settings. YouTube’s encoder guide describes this connection flow.
- Treat the stream key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to the channel. Keep it private, and use YouTube’s live stream settings to reset a compromised key or adjust privacy controls.
- Start OBS and confirm that YouTube Live Control Room receives the feed and displays the expected preview before you make the stream public.
Test the feed and embed the live page
Use a private or unlisted test first. YouTube recommends testing in advance, checking that the event is visible on the channel and watch pages, trying mobile playback, monitoring audio and video, and checking the archive. It also recommends keeping upload bandwidth 20% above the stream’s bitrate; this is an operational recommendation from YouTube, not a measured performance guarantee. See YouTube’s streaming tips and live streaming tips.

- In Live Control Room, inspect the encoder preview for a stable picture and intelligible sound.
- Test the watch page on desktop and mobile, including any site layout or player sizing you plan to use.
- When the broadcast is ready, use YouTube’s embed flow for the live watch page and place the provided embed on the product website.
- Check the published page from a visitor’s perspective. Confirm the correct broadcast loads and that the player fits the page.
If the need is only a repeating recorded video
For a single regular YouTube video, the IFrame player parameters support looping by setting `loop=1` and `playlist` to the same video ID as the embed’s `videoId`. This repeats playback in the embedded player; it does not create a live broadcast or live watch page. For a playlist, use the appropriate playlist embed rather than treating the result as YouTube Live. Refer to Google’s YouTube Embedded Players and Player Parameters for the player parameters and embed details.
Common problems and fixes
- The channel cannot go live: check channel verification, any live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and whether first-time enablement is still pending. Allow up to 24 hours for initial activation.
- The demo stops at the end: confirm Loop is enabled on the OBS Media Source, or Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source.
- The playlist source is unavailable: install VLC on the OBS computer, then reopen or reconfigure the VLC Video source.
- YouTube receives no encoder feed: check that the stream URL and key belong to the correct stream and were entered in the encoder settings. If the key may have been exposed, reset it in YouTube settings.
- The preview stutters or drops: check the local connection and encoder operation, and leave the 20% upload-bandwidth margin YouTube recommends above the stream bitrate.
- The site plays a recording but does not show a live broadcast: confirm the page embeds the live watch page, not a regular video configured with loop parameters.
- The live page is not ready for visitors: review the stream’s privacy setting and verify the watch page on both the channel and a mobile device before publishing the site embed.
