You can use FFmpeg to loop a prepared Hindi ghazal playlist, encode its audio and visuals, and send the result to YouTube Live. To keep it running unattended, you also need a reliable computer or server, a restart and monitoring plan, and permission to stream every recording and visual. YouTube’s encoder recommendations are the starting point for settings; they do not guarantee a continuous broadcast or settle account eligibility and music rights.

How the 24/7 stream fits together

Think of the channel as four pieces: rights-cleared media, an FFmpeg process that combines and transmits it, a YouTube Live broadcast configured to receive the stream, and a host and monitoring plan that keep the process running. YouTube’s Live Streaming API distinguishes the liveStream resource that transmits audio and video from the broadcast resource associated with the event. Its documentation describes a continuous 24/7 scenario, but that is API context—not a promise that every channel is eligible or that any stream will remain online indefinitely. See YouTube’s liveStreams reference and Understanding Broadcasts and Streams.

FFmpeg handles media playback, encoding and delivery; it does not grant rights, configure every YouTube account requirement, or monitor itself. The workflow below explains the decisions and checks. It is not a tested, universal command: FFmpeg options depend on the installed build, input formats and chosen encoders.

Prepare a rights-cleared ghazal playlist and visual

Check permissions before assembling the playlist

For each track, establish that you have permission to livestream both the sound recording and the underlying composition. Do the same for any artwork, video, photographs or other visual assets. Finding a recording online or being able to play it locally does not establish permission to rebroadcast it. The available technical sources do not determine the rights status of any particular song or resolve YouTube’s current eligibility and policy requirements for a continuous prerecorded-music stream. Check current YouTube rules and obtain the relevant permissions before going live.

  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Make the playlist and picture predictable

Organize the audio files into the intended sequence and decide how they should repeat. Choose a stable visual—such as a permitted still image or prepared video—and check that its duration and format work with the audio-looping approach you plan to use. Different audio and video durations, encodings and timestamps can affect transitions. Test the actual files together rather than assuming a loop will be seamless.

Configure YouTube Live and choose encoder settings

Create or select the YouTube Live broadcast and its ingest stream in Live Control Room, then copy the stream key into your FFmpeg setup without exposing it publicly. The broadcast and the incoming stream are related but distinct parts of YouTube’s setup. Treat the key as a credential: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to that ingest stream.

YouTube recommends RTMPS for encoder streaming. Its encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 as video codec options, and AAC or MP3 for audio in RTMP/RTMPS workflows. For encoding, YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval, with four seconds as the maximum. For stereo audio, its advanced settings recommend a 44.1 kHz sample rate and 128 kbps. These are platform recommendations, not proof that every codec or setting works in every FFmpeg build. Review the current YouTube encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions page and the documentation for your installed FFmpeg version.

There is no one bitrate to use for every stream: YouTube’s guidance varies recommendations by resolution and frame rate. Choose the row that matches your output and keep the bitrate within stable upload capacity, with headroom for normal network variation. Run a speed test before committing to a setting. The source visual may not need high motion, but use a test that resembles the audio and motion you expect viewers to see.

YouTube also documents HLS ingest separately and notes higher latency for segment-based HLS ingestion. That does not make HLS the right choice for this use case; for an ordinary FFmpeg workflow, start by checking the RTMPS guidance and compatibility of your chosen encoder and codecs.

Build and test the FFmpeg workflow

  1. Check the installed build and input support. Record your FFmpeg version and verify that it supports the input formats, looping method, encoders and output muxer you intend to use. Use the official FFmpeg documentation for the options available in that build.
  2. Decide how playback repeats. Set up the audio and visual inputs to loop using an approach supported by your FFmpeg version. Confirm what happens when tracks have different lengths, at the end of the playlist, and at the transition back to its beginning.
  3. Set the output format deliberately. Choose a resolution and frame rate appropriate for the visual and your upload connection, then select a YouTube-supported codec combination available in your build. Apply CBR and the recommended keyframe interval, and set audio parameters in line with YouTube’s guidance where compatible.
  4. Send to the intended YouTube ingest. Configure the output destination with the correct ingest endpoint and stream key. Keep the key out of public logs, screenshots and shared configuration files. Check the broadcast preview and confirm YouTube is receiving the expected audio and video.
  5. Run a representative test before announcing the channel. Use the real playlist and visual, listen for gaps or abrupt joins, check audio-video synchronization and inspect the picture. Monitor YouTube stream health during the test and correct any warnings before relying on the setup.

Do not copy a command from an unrelated setup and assume it will work unchanged. The right loop options, codec names and output arguments depend on the installed FFmpeg build and media files. Validate the exact command with your inputs; the FFmpeg documentation is the reference for its options, not a guarantee for an untested command.

Choose where FFmpeg runs and plan for recovery

A process only streams while its host and network connection are working. A personal computer is straightforward to inspect, but must stay powered, connected and free from sleep or shutdown. A VPS can separate the stream from your home computer and connection, but requires Linux administration, remote storage for the media, hosting spend and monitoring. Neither option guarantees uninterrupted delivery.

Choice What must stay available Trade-offs to plan for
Personal computer The computer, FFmpeg process and internet connection Easy local access to files and logs; the machine must not sleep, shut down or lose its connection.
VPS The server, FFmpeg process, stored media and network connection Can run independently of a home computer, but adds hosting cost and Linux, storage and remote-monitoring work.

A community example documents one possible pattern: an Ubuntu VPS with local playlist files, looping FFmpeg inputs and a systemd-managed service. It is an architecture example, not official YouTube guidance or an uptime commitment. See the project’s setup and operations notes.

For unattended operation, use a process supervisor or equivalent restart plan, keep logs, and check both the host and YouTube stream health. A process restart may recover from a local FFmpeg failure, but it cannot correct a bad key, missing rights, an unavailable host or every YouTube-side interruption. Test recovery deliberately before treating the stream as unattended.

Troubleshoot common stream failures

  • YouTube receives no data: Check that FFmpeg is still running, the destination and stream key are correct, and the host has network access. The LiveStreams API reference describes stream health, including a noData status; use YouTube’s health information alongside FFmpeg logs.
  • Video arrives but audio is missing or wrong: Confirm the intended audio input is being read, the selected audio encoder is available in the installed build, and the output settings match the ingest workflow.
  • Audio and video drift or loop awkwardly: Test the actual files and their durations. Different input lengths, formats and timestamps can affect loop boundaries; revise the looping and output setup rather than assuming all sources align.
  • The stream starts and later stops: Check FFmpeg logs, host and network status, and YouTube stream health. Configure and test a supervisor restart for process failure, but do not treat automatic restarts as a substitute for monitoring or platform-side recovery.
  • The picture stutters or stream health degrades: Compare the selected bitrate with stable upload capacity, recheck the resolution-specific YouTube recommendation and run another speed test. Do not raise bitrate beyond what the connection can sustain.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you would rather not maintain a computer or VPS, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded media from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams files as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers. If YouTube drops the stream, StreamNeo automatically recovers. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.

StreamNeo plays uploaded videos and streams to YouTube; it is not a camera-based livestream setup. You still need rights to the recordings and visuals you upload, and must meet YouTube’s requirements. Start your free first day with StreamNeo.
