A stream described as “24/7” is an intended schedule, not a guarantee of uninterrupted uptime: the computer, power, network, OBS, media source, or YouTube can fail. Plan the music rights and the recovery process before making the broadcast public.
1. Clear the rights to every track before building the stream
Local playback is not permission to broadcast. For each recording, identify the relevant rights holder and confirm that your permission covers public live streaming on YouTube, the territories where it will be available, your intended monetization, and whether you may keep an archived version. Recording rights and composition rights may involve different owners. If the music comes through a label or distributor, ask whether your channel needs to be allowlisted in Content ID before you stream.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can lead to a warning, replacement of the video with a placeholder, interruption or termination of the stream, or further action after a strike. If YouTube archives a live stream, Content ID claims may be made after the broadcast ends. YouTube for Artists advises coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music. A consumer music subscription, credit in the description, or a track that plays on your computer does not by itself establish live-stream rights.
Make a track inventory before uploading or loading files into OBS. Record the title, artist, recording owner, composition owner where known, permitted territories, live-stream and archive permissions, monetization terms, and any Content ID allowlisting requirement. If you cannot establish the necessary permission, leave that track out and ask the relevant rights holder or a qualified adviser.

2. Enable YouTube live streaming and schedule the broadcast
- In YouTube Studio, open Go Live and complete channel verification if prompted. YouTube’s general eligibility guidance requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Its current guidance also says live streamers must be at least 16.
- If this is your first live stream, enable the feature well in advance. YouTube for Artists recommends allowing at least 24 hours before the first planned broadcast.
- Choose the encoder route for OBS and create or schedule a broadcast in Live Control Room. Use the current Studio interface for the stream setup rather than relying on old screenshots, since controls can change.
- Write an accurate title and description, select the correct audience and privacy settings, and describe the broadcast as continuous Hindi music only if that matches the actual repertoire and presentation.
3. Build an OBS scene and load the playlist
Install the VLC dependency
OBS’s VLC Video source depends on VLC being installed. OBS documents that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. Install a matching 64-bit VLC build when using 64-bit OBS, then reopen OBS if the source is not available.
Add the playlist source
- Create a scene in OBS and add a background image or video that you have permission to use. Keep the layout simple enough that the song list remains readable.
- Add a VLC Video Source and load the authorized local audio or video files into its playlist.
- Choose the playback behavior. Loop Playlist restarts the list when it reaches the end; Shuffle Playlist randomizes playback. OBS documents loop on and shuffle off as the defaults.
- Play through the files or inspect the playlist before going live. Check the actual order and file metadata, including Hindi titles and artist names.
A fixed order makes it possible to display a program list that matches the sequence. Shuffling makes the order less predictable, so a pre-written ordered list may no longer match what viewers hear.

4. Add the scrolling song list
Make a manual scrolling list
- Add an OBS text source. Enter the titles and artists on separate lines, or enable the option to read the text from a file if you want to edit a longer list outside OBS.
- Position and size the text source in the scene. Choose a font that supports the Hindi script used in the titles, and check the result at both phone and desktop viewing sizes. Use sufficient contrast and, if needed, an outline or background behind the text.
- Apply the Scroll Filter to the text source. OBS documents horizontal and vertical speed controls, crop dimensions, and a Loop option that repeats the movement after the source moves off screen. Adjust the direction and speed so viewers have time to read the titles.
- Preview the full scene and check spelling, line breaks, clipping, and whether the list remains legible against the background.
A text file is only a place to store the words: it does not automatically know which VLC playlist item is playing. A manually written scrolling list is therefore a program or playlist display, not a live “now playing” indicator.
Use metadata for an automatically changing current-track label
If the displayed title must change with playback, use a separate metadata-aware setup. The community plugin Tuna documents reading supported playback information, including VLC, and writing formatted text files that OBS text sources can display. Metadata availability depends on the source and on correctly tagged files. Installation steps, operating-system support, and compatibility can vary with plugin and OBS versions, so verify them before depending on the plugin during a long broadcast.

Do not promise automatic updates unless the chosen setup actually reads the playing item and refreshes the displayed text. Song titles and artist names should match the audio, and lyrics require separate permission to display.
5. Connect OBS, rehearse, and check stream health
- Connect OBS to YouTube using the current account integration or the stream settings provided in Live Control Room. Keep the stream key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Run a private or unlisted rehearsal with music cleared for that use. Check YouTube’s preview, listen for continuous audio, verify the list against the playlist, and make sure the Hindi text is readable on a phone and desktop.
- Inspect YouTube’s stream-health indicators before making the broadcast public. Confirm that the selected scene, audio source, and playlist are still active.
- Keep an eye on OBS during the broadcast and decide how someone will respond if the stream stops. Continuous operation depends on the computer, its power, the network, the media source, OBS, and the platform; none of the reviewed guidance establishes guaranteed 24/7 uptime.
OBS says increasing dropped frames, along with a yellow or red connection indicator, can mean the connection to the streaming service is unstable or cannot sustain the selected bitrate. Reduce bitrate or resolution as appropriate and use OBS’s configuration guidance for your actual computer and connection. No universal bitrate or hardware configuration is established for every setup, so avoid copying a number without considering your encoder, output resolution, and sustained upload capacity.

6. Choose horizontal or vertical presentation deliberately

Features and eligibility can change, so confirm the format controls and available monetization features in YouTube Studio before planning around them. YouTube for Artists says creators may use shopping features, Supers, and ads on live streams subject to access and eligibility. It also reported that “over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025.” That is a dated, platform-wide audience figure, not a forecast for a Hindi music channel or a promise of views or revenue.
