The core is FFmpeg’s -stream_loop -1 option for repeating a file, a real-time input pace, compatible audio/video output, and the current YouTube ingest URL and stream key. A command alone does not guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast: the host, network, process supervision, stream settings and music permissions all matter.
What you need before starting
- A Kannada meditation music recording, or a playlist of recordings, that you have permission to livestream and archive as intended.
- FFmpeg installed on an always-available computer or server. Check your installed build’s options with its local help output; package versions can differ from the online documentation.
- A YouTube channel with access to YouTube Live Control Room.
- A stable network connection and a plan to monitor FFmpeg and restart it if it exits.
- A video stream. If your source is audio-only, you must add a compatible visual, such as a still image or a video loop, because this workflow must send both audio and video for a typical YouTube Live broadcast.
The signal path is prerecorded media → FFmpeg → YouTube Live ingest. FFmpeg can loop a file and pace it in real time, but it does not provide YouTube’s stream key, choose a suitable visual automatically, supervise itself after a failure or grant rights to the music.
Clear music and visual rights first
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can replace the stream with a placeholder, and if the material remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. YouTube also warns that a live stream can be interrupted even if you have licensed third-party content, unless the rights owner adds your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Archived live streams may receive Content ID claims after they finish. See YouTube’s guidance on live-stream content matching.
Before scheduling a long-running stream, get written permission covering the uses you actually intend: continuous livestreaming, monetization if applicable, archive or VOD availability, territories, and the recording, composition and visual rights involved. Ask the rights owner whether they need to allowlist your channel. Labels such as “traditional,” “devotional,” “royalty-free” or “Kannada” do not by themselves establish that a particular recording is cleared. These are practical checks, not legal advice or a guarantee that any license prevents a claim.

Configure the YouTube broadcast and encoder settings
- Create the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go live to enter Live Control Room, then create or configure the stream using the current on-screen workflow. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance explains how to connect an encoder.
- Copy the current server URL and stream key. Put them into the encoder configuration. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it in a script, screenshot, log or public repository. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in Live Control Room.
- Choose output settings against YouTube’s current chart. YouTube currently lists RTMP/RTMPS ingest, H.264/H.265/AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate (CBR), and frame rates up to 60 fps. It recommends RTMPS and a two-second keyframe interval, and says not to exceed four seconds. Select the bitrate from YouTube’s current table for the exact resolution and frame rate you will send; there is no single correct bitrate for every output.
- Test with representative material. Send a short segment with the same audio level, motion, resolution and frame rate you plan to use. Wait for the preview, check that audio and video are present, and review stream health in Live Control Room before relying on the setup for a continuous broadcast.
YouTube’s platform guidance says, “We recommend streaming to YouTube Live with RTMPS, a secure extension to the popular RTMP streaming video protocol.” Use the current values shown for your broadcast rather than assuming that a setting copied from an older tutorial remains suitable.
Build an FFmpeg loop for your media
FFmpeg documents -stream_loop -1 to loop an input indefinitely and -re to read an input at its native rate for real-time output. Consult the FFmpeg documentation and your installed build’s ffmpeg -h output. The exact command depends on your input streams, codecs, FFmpeg build and YouTube settings; treat this as a command pattern to adapt and test, not a guaranteed copy-and-run configuration.

The example maps the first video and first audio stream from the input, encodes H.264 video and AAC audio, and sends an FLV container to the ingest endpoint. Confirm that your FFmpeg build includes the selected encoder. The keyframe interval must correspond to your chosen frame rate and YouTube’s two-second recommendation: for example, a two-second interval is twice the output frames per second. Use the current YouTube bitrate chart for the output resolution and frame rate, and set the buffer and rate controls accordingly.
If your input is audio-only
The example requires a video stream because it maps 0:v:0. An audio-only file will fail that mapping. Add a visual input, such as a still image or looping video, and map its video stream alongside the audio; check FFmpeg’s image/video input options and the installed build’s help for the exact syntax. Ensure the visual is also cleared for livestream and archive use.

If you want to avoid re-encoding
Stream copy can reduce CPU use when the input codecs, stream layout, container handling and output settings are already suitable. It is not a safe default for arbitrary files: incompatible codecs or parameters can prevent ingest or produce an invalid stream. Inspect the source first, then validate the copied output in a test broadcast. When in doubt, use compatible encoding and monitor resource use.
Keep the broadcast running and end it cleanly
The loop flag repeats the input while FFmpeg continues running; it does not restart a crashed process or guarantee that a network connection stays up. A 24/7 setup therefore needs a host that remains powered and online, network reliability, process supervision or restart handling, access to the source media, and a person or monitoring plan for checking stream health. Local computers add power and home-network dependencies; a remote server shifts those responsibilities to the hosting environment. The official setup guidance does not promise an uninterrupted 24/7 session or prescribe a universal restart method.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume one 24-hour output will be saved as a single complete video; plan archive handling separately and confirm current platform behavior. To stop, end the stream through Live Control Room and stop FFmpeg’s output as directed in YouTube’s encoder workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I loop more than one Kannada meditation track?
Yes. Build a playlist or media program that contains the tracks you have cleared, then use it as the input program you test and send through FFmpeg.
Will a 24-hour YouTube Live stream become one archived video?
Not necessarily. YouTube’s stated automatic archive behavior covers streams under 12 hours; plan separately for a longer broadcast.
