To run a 24/7 Malayalam music stream on YouTube, first secure livestream rights for every recording, then prepare an eligible channel and a continuous encoder feed, connect it in YouTube Studio, and test it before going public. You can run the feed from a computer, specialist hardware, or a cloud service. A music license and YouTube monetization eligibility are separate: neither a successful test nor permission to play songs guarantees uninterrupted streaming or monetization.
1. Clear the rights to every song before building the playlist
Make sure your permission covers the specific recordings and your planned use in a YouTube livestream. Possible sources include music you wrote and recorded yourself, commissioned tracks with written permissions, or a catalog whose license explicitly allows YouTube livestreaming.
Malayalam film and label recordings can involve separate rights in the composition and the sound recording. Confirm which rights holders’ permissions you need, the territories covered, the license term, whether monetization is permitted, and how the owner handles YouTube Content ID. Keep written proof of authorization and any channel allowlisting confirmation.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can interrupt or terminate a broadcast, and a license may not prevent interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. YouTube explains these live-content rules in its live-streaming copyright guidance. Crediting a song, owning a consumer copy, having a music-streaming subscription, or seeing no immediate claim does not establish livestream permission.

2. Prepare the YouTube channel
Verify the channel and check that it has no live-streaming restriction from the preceding 90 days. If this is the channel’s first livestream, enable the feature well in advance: activation can take up to 24 hours. YouTube’s current guidance also requires streamers to be at least 16 years old. Check the latest YouTube live-streaming eligibility requirements before launch.
3. Choose how to keep the stream running
Each production route can send a continuous feed to YouTube, but the responsibility for uptime, playback, recovery, and local recording differs. YouTube lists software encoders, cloud services, and hardware encoders; it does not publish a like-for-like price or reliability comparison, so check vendors’ current terms and features before choosing.

For any option, decide who will monitor stream health, how playback will resume after a dropped connection, whether the playlist can be scheduled, and how you will preserve recordings if an archive matters. Do not assume a device or service guarantees uninterrupted delivery.
4. Build the playlist and visual scene
Use only tracks covered by your permissions, and make the play queue predictable enough to monitor. For a music-first channel, prioritize clean audio and consistent perceived loudness. A simple visual treatment can make the stream recognizable without competing with the music. If you display song titles or artists, keep that information synchronized with the actual queue.

Decide whether the broadcast should run continuously or in planned sessions. If you want replay files, plan for YouTube’s archive limit before choosing an uninterrupted schedule.
5. Create and connect the YouTube live stream
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live → Stream.
- Create a stream or schedule it ahead of time. Add a clear title, description, thumbnail, and visual treatment so viewers know what the broadcast contains; scheduling also gives viewers a stable watch URL and the option to set a reminder.
- In Live Control Room, copy the YouTube server URL and stream key into your encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Start the encoder and wait for the incoming preview and stream-health information in Live Control Room. Once the feed is ready, click Go Live in YouTube Studio if the stream is not already scheduled to start automatically under your setup.
YouTube documents the workflow in its encoder setup guidance. The names of controls can change, so follow the current labels in Studio.

6. Set encoder parameters and test the feed
Choose settings supported by both your encoder and the upload connection. YouTube’s RTMP/RTMPS guidance supports H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video, up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR) encoding, and AAC or MP3 audio. Use a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport. Consult the current YouTube encoder settings for bitrate guidance for your selected resolution and frame rate.
- Run an upload-speed test and choose a video bitrate the connection can sustain consistently, with room for normal fluctuations. A brief speed-test result is not proof that a home connection will hold a 24/7 feed.
- Use representative audio and motion in a test: include the loudest sections, transitions, and the visual activity your actual stream will show.
- Start with an unlisted test broadcast, check the preview on more than one device if practical, and confirm that audio stays clean and in sync.
- Watch Live Control Room’s stream-health messages during the test and address warnings before making the stream public.
YouTube for Artists recommends an unlisted test, while YouTube’s encoder guidance advises testing with representative sound and motion. A clean test verifies the feed path; it does not pre-approve music rights or guarantee that a later broadcast will avoid a Content ID interruption.

7. Plan around the 12-hour archive limit
YouTube can automatically archive streams that run for less than 12 hours. It warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all; its Help page states, “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” See YouTube Help: Archive live streams.
If reliable replay files matter, record locally as a backup and consider ending and restarting the public broadcast before it reaches 12 hours, with a planned handoff. Verify YouTube’s current archive behavior before relying on a livestream as a permanent music catalog.
8. Keep copyright and monetization decisions separate
Permission answers whether you may use the music; it does not establish that the channel or playlist qualifies for monetization. YouTube’s channel monetization policy expects original and authentic content, flags mass-produced or repetitive material, and gives collections of songs from different artists as an example of content that may not monetize even when the creator has permission. Reused-content review is separate from copyright permission. Read the current YouTube channel monetization policies.
If you own the catalog, create original arrangements or performances, or add meaningful original presentation, describe your contribution accurately and retain evidence of your role. YouTube makes the eligibility decision through its policy review; a playlist or license alone is not a promise of ad revenue.

Common problems and fixes
- You cannot enable livestreaming: verify the channel, check for a restriction in the preceding 90 days, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- YouTube interrupts the stream over a song: stop or replace the matched track and contact the relevant rights holder. Confirm that permission covers livestream use and ask whether the channel must be allowlisted in Content ID; a license alone may not prevent the interruption.
- The preview is missing, buffering, or reports poor health: confirm the encoder is sending to the correct server URL with the current stream key, then check the connection and encoder settings. Reduce bitrate or resolution if the upload link cannot sustain them, and test again.
- The stream looks or sounds wrong: check the selected resolution, frame rate, bitrate, keyframe interval, and audio input in the encoder. Test with representative content and check synchronization in Live Control Room before going public.
- The replay is missing: a broadcast over 12 hours may not be captured. Use shorter planned sessions when an archive is important and keep a local recording.
- The channel is not approved for monetization: distinguish a copyright claim from a monetization-policy decision. Review the channel’s originality and reused-content status; permission to use tracks does not itself resolve that review.
