To make a 24/7 Tamil Carnatic music YouTube channel with FFmpeg, first secure the rights to every recording and visual, prepare a continuous program, create a YouTube Live event, and send it to YouTube using the event’s RTMPS address and stream key. Then check the Live Control Room preview and stream-health indicators. FFmpeg can loop a prepared file, but it cannot by itself prevent power, network, encoder, or YouTube interruptions—and a successful stream does not automatically grant permission to rebroadcast the music or qualify the channel for monetization.
1. Clear the rights to recordings and visuals
Before building the stream, confirm that you have permission to transmit each sound recording and every other included element, such as artwork, video, lyrics, or other visual material. A traditional composition does not necessarily make a modern performance or master recording free to rebroadcast. Get permission that covers the intended platforms, territories, duration, and monetization, if applicable. Rights depend on the specific works and recordings; no general rule establishes the status of a particular Carnatic recording.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match may replace the stream with a placeholder, and persistent content can interrupt or terminate it. If you have a license, ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube warns that licensed streams can still be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted: YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
- Keep a rights log with each recording’s title, performer, owner or licensor, license scope, expiry date if any, and allowlist confirmation.
- Check that the visual assets are covered too; permission for audio does not necessarily cover artwork or video.
- Keep license records available in case a claim or interruption needs investigation.
2. Prepare a continuous program
For a first test, use a short program that is fully cleared and check its opening, ending, audio levels, gaps, transitions, and repeat point. Keep the files consistent enough for the chosen playback design, and test the loop before going live.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
FFmpeg’s -stream_loop -1 option repeats an input indefinitely. It is suitable for repeating a single file, but does not create a multi-track radio scheduler, randomized rotation, smooth crossfades, or track metadata. Those requirements need a separate playlist-generation or playout design. See the FFmpeg command-line documentation.
3. Create the YouTube Live event
- In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go Live and create or schedule a stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that event. Treat the key like a password: do not expose it in screenshots, public scripts, or logs; regenerate it if it is exposed.
- Allow time for account activation. YouTube says first-time live streaming can take up to 24 hours to become available.
- Enter the URL and key in FFmpeg’s output destination, start sending data, and inspect the Live Control Room preview. Start the event as required by the workflow selected in Studio.
For ordinary creators, Studio is sufficient; YouTube’s separate Live Streaming API guide describes the underlying broadcast and stream concepts, including a 24/7 feed configuration.

4. Choose an ingest profile and test it
Start with YouTube’s encoder recommendations and adjust to the capacity of the actual computer and upload connection. For H.264 at 1080p30, YouTube recommends a 5 Mbps video bitrate. Its guidance recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds), AAC or MP3 audio, and RTMP or RTMPS; RTMPS encrypts the connection in transit. The guidance supports video up to 60 fps and lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 as ingest options. Check the current YouTube encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions when configuring the stream.
For a static-image or low-motion music feed, 1080p30 H.264 is a reasonable initial profile if the system and upload can sustain it. This is a starting-point inference from YouTube’s general guidance, not a tested profile for your channel. If it is unstable, lower the resolution and bitrate together using YouTube’s table. No bitrate guarantees a reliable stream: test with representative media and watch the stream-health panel and messages. YouTube Help’s advice is direct: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.”

Illustrative FFmpeg command for a file containing video and audio
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i "program.mp4"
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -pix_fmt yuv420p -r 30
-b:v 5M -maxrate 5M -bufsize 10M -g 60
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "rtmps://YOUR_YOUTUBE_INGEST_URL/YOUR_STREAM_KEY"
This is an illustrative starting example, not a tested command or an official YouTube FFmpeg recipe. Replace the destination with the exact RTMPS ingest URL and stream key from Studio. The example assumes the input contains both the intended video and audio streams. For audio-only material, create a video stream and map the audio deliberately; the command above does not do that for you. Confirm your FFmpeg build includes the chosen encoder, consult the documentation for your build and input, and test the complete command before relying on it.
5. Make operation and recovery part of the setup
A looping input does not keep the whole service alive. Power loss, network failure, host overload, damaged media, a changed stream key, or a YouTube-side interruption can all stop transmission. Test the intended host under sustained load and plan how to detect and recover from failure.

- Use process supervision or an operating-system service manager to restart FFmpeg after a process failure.
- Rotate logs and avoid recording the stream key in shared or publicly accessible logs.
- Set up alerts and a clear restart procedure; check the YouTube stream-health panel while operating the feed.
- When choosing a local PC, mini PC, or remote server, compare sustained encoding capacity, power or hosting and bandwidth costs, upload reliability to YouTube, monitoring and restart options, and security of the key and media. The requirements and costs depend on the specific machine, connection, and provider.
6. Plan archives and monetization separately
Archives
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A continuous 24/7 feed should not be treated as a guaranteed 24-hour replay. Decide whether you need local recording, shorter scheduled broadcasts, or no full replay, and verify current Studio behavior before basing an archive workflow on stream duration. See YouTube’s live stream archive guidance and the Live Streaming API guide.
Monetization
Permission to transmit recordings and eligibility to earn revenue are separate questions. YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams and require original, authentic channel content; repetitive or mass-produced material may not be eligible. A channel that has permission to rebroadcast recordings can still face a separate reused-content or originality review. Do not assume that a 24/7 schedule or accumulated watch time guarantees monetization. Check YouTube’s channel monetization policies before building a revenue plan.
