To run a 24/7 deep house radio stream on YouTube, you need a verified channel with live access, music rights that cover continuous livestreaming, an audio-and-video program, and an encoder that stays connected. You can run that setup on a desktop with OBS or on a server with FFmpeg; neither is a YouTube requirement. Test the complete setup as an unlisted stream before launch, and plan how you will recover from interruptions.
What a continuous YouTube radio stream requires
YouTube receives a live audio-video feed from an encoder. The audio can be a playlist or playout program; the video can be cover art, a restrained motion loop, or a visualizer. The encoder and its source must keep running for the feed to continue. For a do-it-yourself setup, that usually means leaving a desktop on or maintaining a server process, plus a network connection and a way to detect and recover from failures.
- Channel access: verification and no live-streaming restrictions within the prior 90 days.
- Program source: music you control or have permission to livestream, paired with a video layer.
- Encoder: software such as OBS or FFmpeg, configured to send the feed to YouTube.
- Operations: monitoring, logs or diagnostics, and a recovery plan for source, encoder, host, or network interruptions.
YouTube for Artists advises enabling live streaming at least 24 hours before a first planned go-live. Requirements and controls can change, so check the current Live Control Room guidance before you launch.
1. Enable live streaming and create the broadcast
- Verify the channel. Confirm that live streaming is available and that the channel has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
- Allow time for first-time access. If this is your first stream, enable live streaming at least 24 hours before the planned start, following YouTube for Artists’ guidance.
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create or schedule a broadcast and choose the encoder option. Use the stream details YouTube supplies for that broadcast.
- Keep the stream key private. Enter it only in your encoder’s streaming settings. Treat it like a password: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your channel. If you think it has been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update your encoder.
A continuous radio feed may use one ongoing broadcast. If you intend to run separate broadcasts alongside it, plan how each broadcast is managed: YouTube’s API documentation describes keeping a 24/7 feed live while completing a separate interview broadcast, but that example is not a universal playlist or automatic-restart solution.

2. Build the deep house audio and video feed
Choose a playout and encoding workflow
Desktop: OBS is one software-encoder option described in a third-party radio tutorial. It gives you a graphical workflow for combining audio and visuals, but the computer and the relevant software session must remain running for a continuous feed.
Server: A tutorial describes using FFmpeg on a VPS and automatically restarting the FFmpeg process. This is a command-line approach for unattended operation, not an official YouTube requirement or a tested configuration. It still depends on the source files, host, network, and restart mechanism working as intended.

Whichever route you choose, map the whole chain before going live: playlist or playout source → encoder → network → YouTube. Decide how you will notice a failure and what will restart or restore the feed. A process restart cannot fix every cause, such as an unavailable source file or a host that has gone offline.
Pair audio with a suitable visual
A YouTube livestream is an audio-video feed, so prepare a visual layer as well as the music. A static artwork card, a restrained motion loop, or a custom visualizer can suit a deep house station. Confirm that you have the rights to every visual element you use, and check that the picture remains stable in your test stream.

Do not guess at universal encoder settings
There is no single bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, machine specification, or playlist length established here as a guarantee of reliable 24/7 streaming. Use the current encoder recommendations shown in YouTube’s setup guidance and the options supported by your actual encoder and source. Check the Live Control Room’s stream health and encoder diagnostics for detected configuration issues instead of assuming a setting works because it starts once.
3. Clear music rights before streaming
Use music you created and control, or obtain permission that specifically covers the intended livestream, relevant territories, monetization if applicable, and any archived video. Buying a track, crediting the artist, or having a general music-streaming subscription does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast it.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may result in a warning, a placeholder image, interruption, or termination; copyright consequences may also apply. YouTube says that creators who have licensed third-party content should ask its owner to add the channel to the Content ID allowlist. A license alone may not prevent interruption if the channel is not allowlisted, and rights may be limited to particular territories. Coordinate with the label or distributor and keep written records of permitted uses, territories, term, monetization, archive rights, and allowlist confirmation.
If you choose to archive the stream, include the resulting on-demand video in the rights discussion. YouTube says Content ID claims can be made after the live stream completes when it is archived.

4. Test privately, then launch and monitor
- Start an unlisted test. YouTube for Artists recommends testing in an unlisted stream before going live, especially for high-production or high-investment events.
- Check the entire feed. Confirm that YouTube receives the stream, the audio is present and audible, the visual is stable, and the title and artwork are correct.
- Check rights arrangements. For licensed third-party music, confirm that the relevant rights holder has allowlisted the channel and that the planned territories and uses are covered.
- Inspect health information. Use Live Control Room status and the encoder’s diagnostics to identify detected problems during the test.
- Test recovery, not just startup. For an unattended system, verify what happens when the source, encoder process, connection, or host fails. A third-party guide describes automatic FFmpeg process restart on a VPS, but that does not guarantee continuous uptime; validate recovery in your own setup.
Do not promise viewers uninterrupted playback unless you have operational evidence to support that claim. Even a well-configured setup can be affected by an unavailable source, network failure, host interruption, or YouTube-side issue.
5. Choose a 24/7 operating approach
For a do-it-yourself system, compare the actual trade-offs rather than assuming a particular workflow is automatically cheaper or more reliable.
