Make an original animated study-room scene, pair it with lofi music you own or have cleared for livestreaming and archived replay, then send the finished audio-video program to YouTube Live through OBS Studio or another encoder. A “24/7” schedule is an operating goal, not a promise that one broadcast will run forever: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, so plan how to restart the stream and manage its archives.
1. Build the scene and clear its audio
Create an original room loop
Design or commission the study-room animation, such as a lamp glow, rain at the window, turning pages, or subtle character movement. Keep the source project and records showing who created the work and what rights you hold. If you use third-party artwork, animation, sound effects, or music, confirm the license covers live transmission and the archived replay—not just personal or offline use.
Use music you can legally stream
YouTube makes the channel owner responsible for having the necessary rights to live content, including music licensing rights. Its live-stream terms say: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” A license alone may not prevent a live interruption: if YouTube matches third-party material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, and the broadcast may be interrupted or terminated if the material remains. For licensed content, the owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Read YouTube’s live-stream rights guidance.
2. Choose how to send the program to YouTube
An encoder combines or sends the audio-video program to YouTube Live. For a first setup, OBS Studio is a practical software choice: YouTube lists it as open-source streaming software, and OBS says it is free for any use, has no watermark, and can be used commercially. It runs on your computer, so that computer, its power supply, and your internet connection need to remain available while you operate the stream.

It does not establish current prices or detailed service limits for the hardware and cloud options; verify those before buying. See YouTube’s encoder guide. StreamNeo is an option for uploaded-video streams; it does not transmit a live camera feed.
3. Create and start the YouTube broadcast
- Prepare a stable program. In OBS, add the room animation as a media source or scene element and add your cleared lofi audio. Check that both continue playing and that the audio is audible without overpowering any intended ambience. Preview the combined program before starting the broadcast.
- Create or select a stream in YouTube Studio. Open the Live Control Room and create a stream or select one you have already set up. YouTube provides a stream URL and stream key for the encoder connection.
- Connect OBS. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and enter or connect the stream key as prompted. Treat the key like a password: do not show it on screen or share it. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. In OBS, click Start Streaming. Wait for the incoming picture and sound in YouTube Live Control Room. Confirm that the animation moves, the music plays, and the correct stream is selected.
- Go live from YouTube Studio. Once the preview is correct and YouTube indicates the stream is ready, use the Live Control Room’s go-live control. Starting OBS sends the feed; it is not, by itself, the same as confirming the broadcast is live to viewers.

4. Keep a continuous schedule through interruptions and archives
Plan around the 12-hour archive threshold
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That affects a continuous schedule: arrange a person or operating plan to end and restart broadcasts, and decide how the resulting archives will be handled. Do not assume one stream can remain live indefinitely or that a restart will happen automatically. Tell viewers how the channel’s schedule works if a broadcast may end or restart.
Monitor the whole chain
Check the YouTube preview and OBS while the stream is running, and have a recovery plan for a computer restart, power loss, network interruption, or encoder failure. OBS notes that rising dropped-frame counts can indicate an unstable connection or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain. If frames begin dropping, reduce the output bitrate to a level your upload connection can sustain, then confirm the preview stabilizes. OBS Help provides troubleshooting resources.

5. Keep the channel eligible for monetization
Copyright clearance and monetization eligibility are separate questions. YouTube’s monetization policies apply to livestreams and address repetitive or mass-produced content that lacks creative, educational, or other viewer value. They also assess reused content separately from copyright, so permission to reuse a work does not by itself determine whether a channel qualifies for monetization. For a lofi study-room channel, keep the music and visual production demonstrably original and meaningfully varied, and make the stream valuable to viewers rather than relying on a minimally changed loop. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
