You then funnel them away from the portal into a contained area where they can be killed and their drops collected. The build needs both a portal-toggle mechanism and a catcher/collection system; portal dimensions and the exact catcher design vary, so follow one complete tutorial for your Bedrock version rather than mixing parts from different builds.
What the farm does
In this design, repeated portal activation and deactivation generates zombified piglins in the Overworld. A catcher moves them into a kill area, where you collect the drops. Unlike a natural-spawn farm in the Nether, a portal farm can be built in the Overworld; the Minecraft Wiki’s tutorial says rapidly toggling the portal can make this approach especially effective in Bedrock. Choose one complete build
Portal size is design-specific. The Minecraft Wiki tutorial calls for at least a 23×23 portal, while a surfaced Bedrock tutorial describes a 20-wide by 21-tall portal and a trident killer. These are separate specifications, not dimensions to combine. The surfaced video’s full construction steps and compatibility could not be verified, so use it only as a reference for that described layout, not as evidence of a tested rate or guaranteed result: EASY Zombified Piglin XP & Gold Farm, Minecraft Bedrock.
Whichever complete tutorial you choose, make sure it covers the portal, the activation system, a catcher and transport route, and the killing and collection area. Those parts must work together; the exact enclosure and route depend on the design.

Pick a portal ignition mechanism
Dispenser with flint and steel
Put flint and steel in a dispenser and use a redstone clock to activate it. The Wiki tutorial notes that the clock timing can be adjusted and that this method works even with fire spread turned off. Lava, observers and trapdoors
The alternative described by the Wiki uses lava exposed to air above observers. The resulting updates trigger trapdoors beside the portal, attempting to ignite it every game tick. It avoids replacing flint and steel after construction, but has a higher observer cost; the tutorial lists seven observers as a typical starting amount. Plan the catcher and collection area
The portal only handles spawning. Your chosen design also needs to catch the zombified piglins, move them clear of the portal, and deliver them to a contained kill and collection area. A trident killer appears in one surfaced video description, but the available steps do not establish its full layout or compatibility across current Bedrock versions and platforms. Follow the catcher and kill-system instructions from the same complete build you use for the portal.
Check conditions if spawning or rates disappoint
Do not assume that a portal toggle alone guarantees a particular output. Bedrock spawning depends on conditions such as biome, brightness, valid spawn locations, distance, and population control. Microsoft’s creator documentation explains those factors, but it is not a gold-farm-specific troubleshooting guide; use it to understand why surrounding conditions and competing entities may matter, not as a promise of a particular fix.

Account for version changes
The Minecraft Wiki tutorial is marked as needing an update after Minecraft 1.21.5 and specifically flags a change to zombified piglins always dropping XP when angered. That means older XP guidance should not be treated as current. The available sources do not establish a precise gold rate or guarantee reliability for a particular Bedrock version, platform, difficulty, simulation setting, or layout. Check that the complete build you follow matches your exact game version and platform before committing materials.
