To hide a finished YouTube gaming stream replay, open YouTube Studio > Content > Live, select the archive, change Visibility to Private or Unlisted, then select Done and Save. If “rerun” means a separately uploaded recording rather than a livestream archive, manage it from YouTube Studio’s Content page instead.
Change a finished livestream archive’s visibility
- Sign in to YouTube Studio for the channel that owns the stream.
- From the left menu, select Content.
- Open the Live tab to find live uploads.
- Select the stream archive to open its details.
- Under Visibility, choose Private or Unlisted.
- Select Done, then Save.
YouTube’s Studio Live tab is also where past, current and upcoming streams can be found. The archive’s Visibility setting controls who can watch it.

Use Private when access must be restricted to you and selected viewers. Choose Unlisted when link sharing and comments are useful and you accept that recipients can forward the link. Unlisted is not confidential: a link is all someone needs to watch.
If the rerun is an uploaded recording
A recording uploaded separately from a livestream is managed as a video in YouTube Studio. Open Content, select the recording, and change its Visibility to Private or Unlisted. YouTube’s desktop instructions direct creators to the Live tab to see live uploads, so use that tab for an archived broadcast.

If you meant setting privacy before a gaming stream
YouTube allows streamers to set a live stream to Public, Private or Unlisted. To configure a new or scheduled broadcast, create or schedule it in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and review its privacy setting. In the encoder workflow, stream settings can be edited from the Details page. You can also set the stream type to Gaming. These are pre-broadcast settings; to change a finished replay, follow the archive steps above.
If the replay is missing
Check YouTube Studio > Content > Live first. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. Not every ended stream is guaranteed to appear, and the available help guidance does not establish every account-specific reason an archive might be missing.

Edge cases to check before changing visibility
- Preserving clips: Changing the source archive to Private removes clips made from it. Clips remain available when the source is Unlisted.
- Old unlisted links: YouTube says unlisted videos uploaded before January 1, 2017 were made Private starting July 23, 2021 unless the creator opted out. This legacy change may explain why a very old link no longer works; it does not describe ordinary recent gaming archives.
- Archive organization: YouTube’s live archive is uploaded automatically by default. You can organize an archive and highlights into playlists, but a public archive or playlist is a discovery choice, not a privacy setting.
