To make a YouTube gaming VOD rerun move automatically from one prerecorded video to the next, queue the files in OBS Studio’s VLC Video source. Turn on Loop Playlist only if you want the sequence to start over after the final video. For a single VOD, use OBS Media Source and enable Loop.
If by “resume” you mean a viewer paused a live stream, that is YouTube’s separate DVR feature: playback resumes at that viewer’s paused position, not at the next VOD. The broadcast’s encoder controls which prerecorded video goes out.
Choose the playback behavior you want

For an ordered sequence, leave Shuffle Playlist off. OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC to be installed. See the OBS Media Sources documentation for source behavior and available properties.
Set up a multi-video gaming VOD rerun in OBS
- Prepare the VOD files. Keep the local video files available to the computer running OBS, and decide their playback order before adding them.
- Add a VLC Video source. In your OBS scene, add a VLC Video source, then add the VOD files to its playlist. Arrange the list in the sequence you want viewers to see. If VLC Video is unavailable, install VLC and reopen OBS.
- Set the ending behavior. Enable Loop Playlist to repeat the complete sequence after the last file. Leave it off to play through once. Keep Shuffle Playlist disabled if the order matters.
- Connect OBS to a YouTube live event. Create or schedule the event separately in YouTube Studio or Live Control Room, then connect OBS with that event’s stream URL and key. YouTube’s live stream settings cover broadcast controls such as auto-start and auto-stop; those controls do not decide which local VOD OBS plays. Studio labels and available controls can change, so check the event’s current settings.
- Preview the handoff before relying on the rerun. Confirm the intended source is visible, audio is present, files advance in the intended order, and YouTube receives the encoder stream. This check matters because OBS controls the media sequence while YouTube controls the live event.
Repeat a single VOD instead
If you only need one gaming video to play again and again, add it to an OBS Media Source and enable that source’s Loop property. This repeats one file; it does not create a queue of multiple videos. Connect OBS to the YouTube event separately, as you would for a playlist.

What YouTube “resume” and playlist controls actually do
YouTube DVR is for the viewer watching a live stream: it lets a viewer pause, rewind, and continue from the position where that viewer paused. It does not advance the creator’s outgoing source to the next local VOD. YouTube says DVR may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours; viewers also cannot seek to before the stream began. See YouTube’s DVR guidance.
YouTube’s playlist loop setting applies to a viewer watching a YouTube playlist, and Autoplay may start another related video after one ends. Neither is a dependable way to queue selected local VOD files into a live encoder. Use OBS playlist controls for the sequence that goes out on your live stream. Troubleshoot a rerun that will not advance
- The same VOD starts over instead of the next one: You may have added it as a Media Source with Loop enabled. Use VLC Video and add each file to its playlist for sequential playback.
- The playlist plays in an unexpected order: Check the VLC Video list order and turn off Shuffle Playlist.
- The sequence stops after the last file: Enable Loop Playlist if you want it to begin again. With looping off, reaching the end is expected.
- VLC Video is missing in OBS: Install VLC, then reopen OBS and check the source list again.
- YouTube is live but viewers do not see the expected VOD: Verify the correct OBS scene and source are active, then confirm that OBS is sending to the intended YouTube event using its stream URL and key.
- A viewer resumes at an earlier point rather than seeing the next VOD: That is DVR behavior. The viewer’s playback position is separate from the playlist advancing in OBS.
