You can organize store promo videos in a YouTube playlist, but a playlist alone does not automatically rotate videos inside a YouTube Live broadcast. Make the playlist for viewers to browse in order; if you want a live presentation, schedule a separate stream and send it video through a supported method such as a webcam or encoder.
Playlist or live stream: choose the experience first
| What you want customers to do | Use | What it controls |
|---|---|---|
| Browse a sequence of prerecorded promo clips | YouTube playlist | The collection and order of videos viewers can open and watch. YouTube describes a playlist as a collection of videos. |
| Watch a scheduled live presentation on a live watch page | A separately created or scheduled YouTube Live stream | The broadcast feed and its live viewing experience. A playlist’s video order does not, by itself, create or control this broadcast. |
YouTube’s documented playlist tools let you create and reorder a collection. Its live-stream tools separately create or schedule broadcasts in Live Control Room and send video from a webcam, mobile device, or encoder. The cited guidance does not establish a playlist-based live rotation interval, unattended playback setting, or guarantee of continuous rotation.
Create and order the promo playlist
- Choose the clips. Select the approved promo videos you want customers to browse. Use clear video titles so the sequence makes sense outside the context of the store.
- Create a playlist. In YouTube, create one from an existing video or open the Playlists area and create it there. Add the promo videos you selected.
- Name and describe it. Give the playlist a title that identifies the store or promotion and a description that tells customers what they will find.
- Set its privacy. Choose public if viewers should be able to discover it; select another privacy option if you intend to share it only with a limited audience. For a public playlist, share its URL in store communications.
- Set the viewing order. On desktop, open the playlist and drag entries into the order you want customers to encounter them. YouTube documents this ordering for playlist videos and Shorts.
Plan the sequence as a browsing path—for example, introduce the promotion, show the relevant products, then put supporting details or an offer at the end. That is an editorial choice, not a YouTube-mandated order or a guarantee of sales results.
Schedule a separate live presentation
Use a live stream when the store needs a broadcast with a live watch page, rather than simply an ordered collection of clips. Scheduling also gives you a shareable URL to promote; viewers can set reminders.

- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live → Manage.
- Schedule the stream and prepare its event details in Live Control Room.
- Copy the stream’s shareable URL and use it to promote the event.
- Choose how to provide the broadcast video. YouTube supports webcam, mobile, and encoder methods; use the approach that fits the presentation.
Use an encoder when the production needs more control
An encoder is suitable for screen sharing, external audio or video equipment, and more advanced production controls. In the encoder, enter the stream URL and stream key supplied by YouTube. Start the encoder so it sends video, then use Live Control Room to start the broadcast. Treat the stream key as private: anyone with access to it may be able to send video to the stream.
Use a webcam for a simple presenter-led segment
A webcam is a supported live method when a person needs to present or show merchandise in real time. It is optional for prerecorded promo content; a playlist does not require a webcam, and a live production should use the supported method appropriate to its setup.

Feature products during an eligible live stream
YouTube Shopping has separate controls for presenting products on a live stream. If the channel is eligible, tag products and arrange their display order in YouTube Studio. YouTube Help states that up to 30 products can be arranged for a live stream. This is the order of tagged products—not the order of videos in a playlist.
- Check the channel’s current Shopping eligibility before planning around product tagging.
- Check availability for the countries where viewers will watch; eligibility and viewer location affect whether products appear.
- Do not promise that tagged products will be available to every viewer just because the stream is public.
Keep the two kinds of ordering separate
- Playlist order: drag video entries into the order customers should browse.
- Live product order: for an eligible Shopping stream, arrange tagged products in YouTube Studio.
- Broadcast content: a separately configured live workflow supplies the stream’s video feed; playlist ordering alone does not document or configure automated video rotation in that feed.
If your goal is a continuous, prerecorded live presentation rather than a scheduled presenter-led event, you need a separate broadcast or automation workflow. Do not assume that creating the playlist completes that setup.

Troubleshooting the setup
The playlist is not playing as a live broadcast
Cause: The playlist organizes videos for viewers; it is not itself a scheduled live stream or a documented automatic rotation control. Fix: Keep the playlist for browsing, and create a separate stream in Live Control Room using a supported video source or separately configured automation workflow.
Customers cannot find the playlist
Cause: Its privacy setting may limit visibility, or customers may not have its URL. Fix: If discovery is intended, choose public and share the playlist link in the store’s communications.

The live event is scheduled, but no video is arriving
Cause: Scheduling creates the event but does not by itself provide its video feed. Fix: Start the selected webcam, mobile, or encoder workflow. For an encoder, verify the YouTube stream URL and key, confirm the encoder is sending, then start the broadcast in Live Control Room.
A tagged product is not visible to a viewer
Cause: Shopping eligibility or viewer-country availability may prevent display. Fix: Check the channel’s current eligibility and the feature’s availability for that viewer’s location before relying on product tags.

Or let it run in the cloud
If the store wants prerecorded videos to keep a YouTube channel live, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos; it does not broadcast from a camera.
- Nothing has to stay on at home: the stream runs from the cloud, so your computer and home connection can be off.
- Each slot streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot.
- It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free, with no card required (one free day per account).
Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for details, or start the free first day.
Sources and date note
YouTube’s official Help pages cited for playlist creation and ordering, live setup, and Shopping are live documents without a publication date shown in the search results. The live-stream product limit and feature availability can change; check YouTube’s current guidance and Studio settings before publishing a promotion. The up-to-30-products figure is a platform feature limit, not a sales or performance result.
