The steps differ by device. This repeats playback of the playlist’s videos; YouTube’s documented controls do not say that it will restart an active livestream when the broadcast ends.
First, distinguish a playlist from an active livestream
A playlist can contain recordings of past livestreams, or a livestream may be broadcasting right now. YouTube’s Loop and Repeat controls apply to playlist playback. They do not provide documented instructions for making an active broadcast restart indefinitely.
For viewers, the loop setting repeats the videos in a playlist. YouTube’s live-stream settings cover separate functions: DVR lets viewers pause, rewind, and resume during a stream, while auto-start and auto-stop manage stream behavior. These are not playlist-loop controls (YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings).
Loop a YouTube playlist on a computer
- Open a video that is part of the playlist.
- Expand the playlist panel on the right, if it is collapsed.
- Click the Loop control in the playlist box.
- Check that the control indicates the playlist will loop.
Do not confuse playlist Loop with the player’s context-menu Loop action: the player action repeats only the current video, not the full playlist. YouTube documents these computer steps in its playlist-loop instructions for computers, TVs, and gaming consoles.

Loop a playlist on Android
- Start playing the playlist.
- Find the playlist control box beneath the video.
- Tap Loop to repeat the playlist continuously.
- To repeat only the current video, tap Loop again. YouTube says a “1” appears in the middle of the icon in that mode.

Loop a playlist on a TV or gaming console
- Select and play the playlist.
- While a video is playing, press down on the remote or controller to show the controls.
- Select Repeat until the interface indicates Repeat • Playlist.
YouTube also says the Repeat control can be reached from Settings while watching. Confirm that the interface indicates playlist repeat rather than repeating the current video; labels and control locations can vary by device or app version.

What to do if the loop control is not doing what you expect
- Only one video repeats: You may have selected the player’s Loop action or the single-video mode. Use the playlist control and check for the playlist-repeat indicator.
- The next playlist item plays, then playback stops: Check that Loop is enabled for the playlist, not just the current video.
- You expect a live broadcast to restart: Playlist repeat is a playback feature for playlist items. YouTube’s cited live-stream guidance does not document it as a way to restart an active broadcast indefinitely.

Why YouTube’s HLS “rolling playlist” is different
You may encounter the phrase “rolling playlist” in YouTube’s HLS setup documentation. There it refers to live-stream segments sent by an encoder, not the viewer-facing playlist Loop control. It is a technical ingestion requirement, not a way to repeat a YouTube playlist (YouTube Help: Set up an HLS stream).
