To loop Assamese Christian sermon recordings on YouTube Live, loop the files in streaming software such as OBS, then send OBS’s output to YouTube using a stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. YouTube’s Loop control only repeats playback for a viewer; it does not make a live broadcast cycle through recordings.
Before you set up the stream
- Confirm live streaming is enabled for the channel and that it can currently go live. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
- Confirm the ministry has permission to stream and rebroadcast each sermon recording and any music, images, or other material in it.
- Have the sermon video files available on the computer running OBS, and decide their intended playback order.
Set up a sermon loop in OBS
Loop one sermon recording
- In OBS, select the scene that will provide the live picture and sound.
- Add a Media Source and select the sermon file.
- Enable the source’s Loop property. Check that the file’s audio and picture play as expected before broadcasting.
Loop several sermons in order
- Install VLC if it is not already installed. OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC; OBS documents that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- In OBS, add a VLC Video source and add the sermon clips to its playlist in the order you want them to play.
- Enable Loop Playlist. Leave Shuffle Playlist off if the sermons must play in the listed order; OBS documents shuffle as a separate setting that defaults to Off.
- Check the transitions between recordings, including any gaps or abrupt changes in audio, and confirm the scene’s aspect ratio and sound levels.
Use Media Source for a single repeating file and VLC Video for a sequence of files. YouTube’s viewer Loop control is not a substitute for either: it affects playback in the watch interface, not the live output.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or select a stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube into OBS’s streaming settings. The key lets the encoder send its feed, so treat it like a credential and do not share it publicly.
- Start streaming in OBS. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health, then complete the Go live step there if prompted.
YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS ingest; its current encoder guidance recommends RTMPS, the encrypted form of RTMP. Interface labels and available options can change, so check the current Live Control Room and YouTube encoder guidance for the channel.
Choose output settings and rehearse
YouTube’s current guidance covers H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video codecs, AAC or MP3 audio for RTMP/RTMPS, constant bitrate encoding, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. These are platform recommendations, not a tested profile for every computer or connection.

- Choose resolution and bitrate in line with the source files and the upload connection. Run a speed test and use YouTube’s current encoder recommendations rather than assuming a setting will work on every connection.
- Test with representative sermon footage and audio. Confirm the preview, watch-page access, playlist order, sound, and stream health before relying on the broadcast.
- YouTube recommends setting up the encoder ahead of time and previewing before going live. Monitor the broadcast after it starts.
- Consider whether to enable DVR. With DVR, viewers can pause and rewind, then resume from the point where they paused.
Plan for the recording and archive
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Streams over 12 hours may not be captured, and YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. Decide whether the resulting archive should be public, unlisted, or private. If the live session may run beyond 12 hours, do not rely on YouTube alone to preserve it.
