A stream running around the clock does not guarantee monetization or a predictable income: your channel must qualify, your content and rights must meet YouTube’s rules, and viewers or advertisers must participate.
How a 24/7 YouTube stream can earn money
YouTube offers several possible revenue routes. They differ in setup and in whether earnings depend mainly on ad delivery, recurring member payments, live-chat purchases, or product sales.

What to know about live-stream ads
Ad formats and controls
On a monetized live stream with monetization enabled, pre-roll and display ads are automatically enabled. Mid-roll ads can be set to automatic, scheduled at 6, 12, 18, 24, or 30-minute intervals, or inserted manually. Under automatic mid-rolls, viewers may see ads at different times. YouTube’s ad systems decide whether an eligible slot serves, so turning on ads does not mean every viewer will receive one. You can review live and replay ad revenue in YouTube Analytics.

Watch Page ad and Premium revenue requires accepting the Watch Page Monetization Module. YouTube also reviews content under its standard process, including advertiser-friendly requirements. How to interpret YouTube’s reported mid-roll result
YouTube’s help page says: “Creators that chose live automatic mid-rolls saw, on average, over 20% uplift in instream ad revenue per hour.” YouTube describes this as a comparison of average in-stream revenue per hour for channels using automatic live mid-roll ads versus channels not using them, averaged across 207 countries in January 2024. It is a platform-reported comparison, not a controlled forecast for an individual channel, and it is not specific to 24/7 streams. It should not be used to predict a particular daily or monthly income.

Eligibility, setup, and content rules
Check channel and feature access
- Review the current YouTube Partner Program eligibility requirements and confirm your channel’s status in YouTube Studio. Requirements and availability may vary by feature and region and can change.
- For Watch Page ads and Premium revenue, check and accept the Watch Page Monetization Module where offered.
- For memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers, check feature eligibility, accept the Commerce Product Module, and enable the features in Studio. The Commerce Products monetization policies explain the applicable rules.
- Check Shopping availability and eligibility in your account before building a revenue plan around it.
Make the stream eligible on its own merits
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams. Its July 15, 2025 policy note clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material is ineligible under the renamed “inauthentic content” policy; the reused-content policy did not change. A 24/7 schedule does not make content eligible by itself. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies for the current standards.
For a continuous broadcast, confirm you have all rights needed to use and stream every element, including applicable music licensing rights, and comply with applicable laws. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions set out this obligation. A claim or rights issue can affect a stream’s availability or monetization; the outcome depends on the circumstances.
Choose a streaming method that can sustain the schedule
YouTube lists mobile, webcam, and encoder as streaming methods. For computer webcam streaming, a computer with a webcam is needed; a webcam is not required for streams made with a different method. Whichever method you choose, plan for the practical demands of continuous operation: a stable connection, a device or service that remains active, and a way to respond if the broadcast stops. Revenue features do not remove those operational needs.

Why 24/7 streaming does not provide a reliable income estimate
Stream duration alone says little about revenue. Ads may not serve in every slot, and memberships, paid chat, and product sales depend on eligible access and viewer choices. The available YouTube figures do not establish a dependable daily or monthly amount for a 24/7 stream. Treat revenue as variable, and use YouTube Analytics to examine your own results rather than projecting an income from hours live.
