Make an object smaller on PC or Mac
- Enter Build Mode and select the object you want to resize.
- Hold Shift and press [. Press the key again to shrink the object further.
EA Help lists this keyboard shortcut for making objects smaller: How to make objects bigger in The Sims 4. The page specifies the bracket key but does not give alternate mappings for different keyboard layouts. If the key is unavailable or behaves differently, check the game’s current Controls Overlay or key bindings rather than guessing another key.

Make an object smaller on console
Select or hold the object in Build Mode, then hold the trigger pair for your console and press the D-pad direction EA Help lists:
- Xbox: Hold LT+RT, then press down on the D-pad.
- PlayStation: Hold L2+R2, then press down on the D-pad, according to EA Help.
EA’s separate May 30, 2023 update describes console resizing with left or right on the D-pad instead. If down does not reduce the object’s size in your current game version, open the Controls Overlay by clicking the Left Stick and follow the mapping shown there.
