During Grow a Garden’s October 4–11, 2025 Chubby Chipmunk event, the fastest documented way to build the pet’s weight was to let its passive run and take advantage of Nutty Fever. In that weather, the chipmunk performed its ability every 30 seconds. The event has ended; a community-maintained pet reference says the weight-gain effect failed afterward, so check the live game before relying on this method today.
How the Chubby Chipmunk gained weight
Players claimed the free Chubby Chipmunk at the event island or stand, placed it in their garden, and let its passive activate. It occasionally ate a random eligible fruit in the garden and gained weight. The pet reference says it ignored favorited fruit and single-harvest fruit.
Weight mattered because the event awarded rewards based on the pet’s weight. The available references do not establish a complete, dependable list of milestone thresholds or every reward, so check the event track in-game rather than relying on guessed numbers.
How to speed up its ability
Use Nutty Fever during the event
The October 4, 2025 update-log entry says submitting plants could trigger Nutty Fever. While that weather was active, the chipmunk performed its ability every 30 seconds, creating more frequent opportunities to eat fruit and gain weight. This was the documented speed-up; the references do not give a guaranteed ordinary activation interval or a way to force a particular fruit selection.

Weight rewards and acorns are separate
The chipmunk’s passive could also spawn an acorn somewhere on the map. Collecting the acorn granted a random reward; reported examples include watering cans, event lanterns, harvest tools, reclaimers, sprinklers, treats, toys, and seeds. Acorn collection was a separate random-reward route, not a substitute for gaining weight on the event track.
| Route | How it worked | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Weight progression | The passive ate eligible fruit and the pet gained weight. | Event rewards were tied to weight; the complete thresholds and reward list are not established in the cited references. |
| Acorn collection | The passive could spawn an acorn on the map; collecting it gave a random reward. | Examples of reported rewards include tools, event items, treats, toys, and seeds; individual odds are not stated. |
Does this still work?
The event reference lists the event as running October 4–11, 2025. The Chubby Chipmunk pet reference reports that its weight-gain passive failed after the event and lists the pet as unobtainable. Those are community-maintained sources, not a current official developer confirmation. Check the live game for any reactivation before expecting the passive, Nutty Fever, or event rewards to function now.
