You can move a 24/7 YouTube operation from Castr to Gyre by preparing Gyre’s uploaded-video playlist and YouTube connection first, then making a monitored cutover. Do not assume the existing broadcast, stream key, or watch page will transfer: the services’ documentation does not promise a seamless Castr-to-Gyre handoff or zero downtime.
What changes when you move from Castr to Gyre?
The main change is the source of the broadcast. Castr’s documented 24/7 workflow forwards a live source supplied to it, provided the subscription is active and the source has adequate streaming bandwidth. Its Help Center describes the model this way: “Castr delivers the same data we receive from your end, so if your video source is live 24/7, rest assured that your stream is live all the time” (Castr: Livestream 24/7 With Castr, published December 1, 2022).
Gyre’s published workflow is different: upload prerecorded videos, arrange them in a playlist, connect YouTube, and run the playlist continuously (Gyre’s 24/7 YouTube live-stream workflow; accessed October 3, 2026). If your Castr stream is fed by a live camera, encoder, or other changing live source, first confirm that replacing it with uploaded prerecorded material suits your channel. The documented Gyre workflow is not a direct relay of Castr’s incoming source.
Before you start the cutover
- Identify the current source. Record how Castr receives the video and who or what keeps that source live. Decide whether the intended Gyre playlist can replace it.
- Check access and credentials. You need access to the YouTube channel and to the relevant Castr and Gyre accounts. Treat a YouTube stream key as a credential: YouTube says the stream URL and key are entered in the encoder or streaming application sending the video (YouTube: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder).
- Choose an operational window. Allow time to upload files, set up the playlist, inspect the destination broadcast, and respond if it does not start. Tell viewers that a brief interruption is possible if continuity matters to them.
- Decide how to connect YouTube. Castr documents connecting by YouTube API or server/key configuration (Castr: How to Connect YouTube with Castr). Gyre documents YouTube channel authorization and stream-key selection or creation in its API workflow (Gyre: full live-stream automation via the YouTube API, published October 3, 2026). Follow the method available in the account and product interface you are using; do not assume Castr’s connection or key automatically becomes Gyre’s.
How to move the stream
- Prepare the destination media. In Gyre, upload the videos you intend to broadcast and build the playlist in the order you want viewers to see them. Check Gyre’s help-center index for the applicable video-preparation and manual-setup or YouTube-authorization guides (Gyre Help Center: General Questions; accessed October 3, 2026). Confirm the files and sequence before scheduling the continuous stream.
- Connect the intended YouTube channel. Use Gyre’s applicable connection flow. If it requests YouTube authorization, review that you are authorizing the correct channel. If you configure a stream key, select an existing key or create one as the interface requires. YouTube’s guidance explains that the stream URL and key are supplied to the sending application; keep the key private and update the sending application if you reset it (YouTube: Manage live stream settings).
- Review the broadcast details. Check the title, description, privacy, and other intended settings in YouTube Studio or the relevant Gyre flow. YouTube supports reusing stream settings, which copies metadata, settings, and the key to a new stream (YouTube: Manage live stream settings). Reusing settings creates or configures a stream; it is not evidence that an already-live Castr broadcast or its watch page has been transferred.
- Start and inspect the Gyre feed. Follow Gyre’s setup and scheduling flow, then check the Gyre status and YouTube preview or live status. Verify that the intended video is playing, the channel and broadcast details are correct, and the viewer-facing page is the one you plan to use. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance describes checking the stream in the live control room before going live (YouTube: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder).
- Stop Castr only after checking the destination. Once the new feed is confirmed and you have decided how viewers should reach it, end the old Castr-fed broadcast according to your operating plan. The reviewed Castr, Gyre, and YouTube documentation does not establish that Gyre can take over the active Castr broadcast while retaining the same YouTube watch page, so plan for a change of broadcast and a possible interruption.
- Verify after the switch. Check playback, title, privacy, the viewer-facing page, and monetization state. If Gyre created the broadcast through YouTube’s API, verify monetization explicitly: Gyre says YouTube’s third-party-tools default must be enabled for API-created broadcasts to start with monetization active (Gyre’s YouTube API automation update).
Watch-page continuity, archives, and monetization
Same watch page and uninterrupted playback
The available documentation does not explain whether an active Castr broadcast can be handed over to Gyre on the same YouTube watch page, or guarantee a no-interruption transfer. Treat the destination as a planned broadcast change. If the same page or uninterrupted playback is a hard requirement, ask Castr and Gyre to confirm the exact behavior for your channel and setup before scheduling the switch.

- All-around Configuration Options: Control ZowieBox through its web UI on a PC, phone, or tablet. Manage connected PTZ cameras, tally light, video/audio, OSD, work mode, streams, network, and system settings. Support for VISCA over IP encoder workflows enables flexible PTZ control, while the dashboard provides video preview and system status.
24/7 archive expectations
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not guarantee archive behavior for a continuous 24/7 broadcast. Check the channel’s actual archive outcome and do not rely on an uninterrupted 24/7 stream being preserved as one complete recording (YouTube encoder guidance; accessed October 3, 2026).
Monetization for API-created broadcasts
Gyre’s October 3, 2026 update says the YouTube third-party-tools default must be enabled for API-created broadcasts to start with monetization active. Check the channel’s current setting and the broadcast’s monetization status rather than assuming it carried over from the Castr setup.

Troubleshooting a failed or incomplete switch
- Gyre is not playing the intended content: Recheck that the intended files were uploaded and placed in the correct playlist, and that the schedule is using that playlist.
- YouTube does not receive the new feed: Confirm the authorized channel, selected stream key, and stream URL or connection method in the Gyre setup. If you reset the key, update the application sending the feed with the new credential.
- The feed starts but has the wrong title, privacy, or settings: Review the destination broadcast in YouTube Studio and Gyre’s connection flow. Reusing settings may copy metadata and settings, but it does not transfer the old live broadcast.
- Monetization is off on an API-created broadcast: Check YouTube’s third-party-tools default and the broadcast’s current monetization state, following Gyre’s stated API workflow requirement.
- Viewers cannot find the new stream: Verify the live status and viewer-facing YouTube page, then share the correct destination if the cutover created a different broadcast. Do not promise that the prior watch page remains active.
- The stream archive is missing or incomplete: Check YouTube Studio and the actual archive for the channel. YouTube’s stated automatic-archive rule covers streams under 12 hours, not a guarantee for a 24/7 broadcast.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep prerecorded video live on YouTube around the clock, StreamNeo is an alternative to try first: it runs the uploaded videos from the cloud, at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and the first day is free. Upload a recording or make a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. It is for uploaded videos on YouTube, not a live camera feed.
The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or its plan details, then start the free day.
