The practical route is to keep your original video files, record the playlist and stream details, rebuild the playlist in Gyre, authorize the correct YouTube channel, test it, and then switch the broadcast. The existing event, stream link, and Restream-specific extras are not established as transferable, so verify them in YouTube Studio before you cut over.
Before you move the stream
Keep the original files and record the setup
Restream builds a playlist from video files in its library. Before changing services, keep a copy of every source file outside Restream and write down the playlist order. Restream says videos in an airing playlist cannot be added, removed, or rearranged while it is live, so do this before the next broadcast begins. Restream’s playlist guide describes that limitation.
- Record the playlist order and the file associated with each entry.
- Save the stream title, description, tags, thumbnail, privacy setting, intended start time, and any stream-specific settings.
- Note any graphics, captions, chat setup, or analytics you use, then check whether you need to configure them again.
Check YouTube eligibility and rights
Check the channel’s current live-stream eligibility in YouTube Studio. Restream’s YouTube connection guide, dated July 9, 2026, says first-time live activation involves phone verification and a 24-hour wait after enabling streaming. Treat that as guidance from Restream, not a guarantee of your channel’s current status; confirm the live dashboard before planning a cutover.
When authorizing Gyre, use the Google account that owns the YouTube channel. Also confirm you have the rights needed to rebroadcast the video, audio, images, and any third-party material in every file. Uploading the same files to a new service does not grant those rights. YouTube’s rules can change, so check its current guidance before streaming; Gyre’s own policy summary is not a substitute for YouTube’s policy pages.

Can you transfer the Restream playlist or keep the same YouTube link?
The documented workflows describe separate file libraries and separately built playlists; they do not establish a direct Restream-to-Gyre playlist import. Plan to upload or import the files into Gyre and recreate the playlist order yourself. Do not assume that Restream metadata, graphics, captions, an existing live event, or its URL will follow automatically.
| Item | What to do | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Video files | Keep your originals and upload or import them into Gyre. | Both services describe file-based workflows; a direct cross-service transfer is not established. |
| Playlist order | Record it in Restream, then rebuild it in Gyre. | The playlist is separately configured in each service. |
| Title, description, thumbnail, privacy, schedule | Enter and verify each item in Gyre. | No retrieved guide says these fields transfer from Restream. |
| YouTube channel connection | Authorize the channel owner’s Google account in Gyre. | Gyre describes channel authorization; Restream’s guide also emphasizes channel ownership for its YouTube connection. |
| Existing live event or URL | Check YouTube Studio and decide whether to use or create a broadcast for the cutover. | Continuity between Restream and Gyre is not established. |
| Graphics, captions, chat, analytics | Check each feature and rebuild it if needed. | Direct portability is not established. |
Rebuild the playlist and connect YouTube in Gyre
- Sign in to Gyre and choose YouTube as the destination. Check the current plan limits and confirm the playlist and scheduler features you need are available to your account. Gyre’s September 2026 guide lists the scheduler on trial, Start+, and PRO+ plans, but not Start; plan features can change, so verify them in Gyre’s current pricing and your signed-in account.
- Authorize the channel. Sign in with the Google account that owns the YouTube channel and grant the requested live-broadcast access. Gyre’s September 29, 2026 YouTube API update describes authorization that can create a broadcast and bind a stream key. The same update describes manual key-based setup as an alternative. Follow the setup available in your account and verify the selected channel and event in YouTube Studio.
- Upload or import the source files. Match each file to the order you recorded. Do not treat the Restream playlist object, captions, graphics, or event details as importable unless Gyre explicitly offers that option in your account.
- Create the ordered playlist. Add the files in the intended sequence, then re-enter the title, description, tags, thumbnail, privacy, and schedule. Inspect file reports and preview playback where available. Gyre recommends a playlist of at least one hour, ideally 3–5 hours; this is Gyre’s recommendation, not a YouTube requirement.
- Test before going public. Use an appropriate visibility setting and check the video, audio, sequence, metadata, and destination channel. This is a practical cutover safeguard, not a vendor-promised migration test mode or a guarantee of zero downtime.
- Switch the broadcast. Once you have verified the Gyre stream, schedule or start it and stop the old Restream broadcast when your transition plan allows. Avoid sending overlapping streams to the same event unless you have checked YouTube Studio and know how that will appear to viewers.
What to expect from looping and scheduling
Gyre’s setup guide describes cloud playback that restarts when the playlist ends. Restream’s Upload & Stream overview describes scheduled prerecorded videos and playlists, and says a scheduled prerecorded video can replay up to 10 times. That Restream feature is not the same as Gyre’s described continuous playlist loop, and Restream limits do not carry over to Gyre.

For Restream’s playlist feature, the July 25, 2026 guide lists a maximum of 24 hours and 40 video entries, requires an Upload & Stream add-on tier (Marathon or Media), and says the list cannot be edited during playback. These are Restream-side limits, not Gyre limits. Check Gyre’s current account and plan details for its applicable storage, playlist, and scheduler limits.
India-specific considerations
The documented migration steps do not establish a separate India-only setup flow, local Gyre pricing, tax treatment, or payment methods. Do not assume those details are the same across regions: check Gyre’s current official account and checkout information. The key operational checks remain your channel’s YouTube live eligibility, ownership authorization, files, rights, and the public cutover plan.
