To multistream from OBS, send your broadcast to YouTube and each other destination either directly from your computer or through a cloud relay that distributes one OBS feed. First confirm YouTube live access, collect each platform’s ingest details, and check that your computer and internet connection can handle the setup. For a YouTube channel that needs an uploaded video to stay live around the clock, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: it loops uploaded videos to YouTube, not camera-based live broadcasts.
Choose how OBS will reach each platform
There are two main approaches. With local output, your computer encodes and sends a stream to multiple destinations. With a cloud relay, OBS sends one feed to a service, which distributes it to the destinations you choose.
| Approach | Where the work happens | When it may fit | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Local OBS output | Your computer encodes and sends streams. | You want direct control and have a computer capable of handling the workload. | More destinations can mean more local processing and upload demand; exact capacity depends on your system, settings and destinations. |
| Cloud relay | OBS sends one feed to the relay, which distributes it. | You want a lighter local workload or plan to send to more than two channels. | Services differ in destinations, output quality, plan limits and price. YouTube says cloud services often use subscriptions, though some offer limited free plans; check current terms. |
YouTube’s guidance presents local encoding as an option for creators seeking control and potentially the highest quality with a powerful computer, and cloud services as a simpler way to reduce local workload. Neither approach removes the need to meet each platform’s requirements.
Check YouTube access and gather destination details
Make sure YouTube Live is available
Your YouTube channel must be verified, live streaming must be enabled, and it must not have had a live-stream restriction during the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take at least 24 hours after you request it. See YouTube’s guidance on streaming across platforms and its live encoder setup requirements.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Prepare each platform’s connection information
Create or schedule the YouTube broadcast in Live Control Room to obtain the server URL and stream key for your encoder. For every other destination, use that platform’s current official instructions to find its ingest server URL and stream key, if required, and confirm the account is active and in good standing. Requirements and available connection methods vary by platform.
Treat stream keys like passwords: do not show them in screenshots, public documents or a broadcast scene. If a key is exposed, replace it through the relevant platform’s settings before using it again.

Set up and test the multistream
- Confirm YouTube eligibility. Verify the channel and enable live streaming well ahead of the planned broadcast, allowing at least 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Create the YouTube event. In YouTube Live Control Room, create or schedule the stream and copy the server URL and stream key into a secure place.
- Collect other destinations’ ingest settings. For each platform, follow its official live-stream setup instructions and note the current server URL, stream key and any destination-specific requirements.
- Choose the routing method. Configure OBS to send output to the destinations supported by your chosen local workflow, or configure OBS to send one feed to a cloud relay and select destinations there. Exact menus and steps depend on your OBS version, any plugin or relay, and the platforms’ current ingest support; verify those details with the relevant product documentation.
- Test the complete setup. Use a private or otherwise appropriate test with the intended resolution, frame rate, audio and destinations. Check YouTube’s stream health and confirm every destination receives the intended picture and sound.
Plan upload capacity and YouTube’s active-stream limits
Test your real upload conditions
YouTube says, “For high-quality simulstreaming, sufficient Internet upload speed is critical for the live streams to work properly.” Test with audio and video running as they will during the broadcast. There is no reliable one-size-fits-all upload target in the cited guidance: the required capacity depends on resolution, bitrate, the number of outgoing feeds in a local setup, and the workflow used.
Keep within YouTube’s documented limits
YouTube’s current Help guidance states a maximum of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key; both limits apply simultaneously. These are YouTube limits, separate from any relay service’s plan limits. An active-stream limit can prevent another stream from starting. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.

Troubleshoot common multistream problems
- YouTube will not let you start a live stream: check channel verification, Live activation and any restriction within the previous 90 days. If this is your first activation, allow at least 24 hours after requesting it.
- A destination rejects the feed: recheck that destination’s current ingest URL and stream key, and confirm the account is in good standing. Do not assume every platform accepts the same connection method.
- Video or audio is unstable: test upload capacity while the full broadcast setup is active. Check whether your local computer is encoding several outputs and whether the chosen workflow or relay has relevant limits.
- A new YouTube stream will not start: check how many streams are active on the channel and on that specific key. YouTube’s documented limits are 10 per channel and 3 per key at the same time.
- A stream key may have been exposed: replace it in the platform’s account or live-stream settings, then update the saved encoder or relay configuration.
- One destination has the wrong picture or sound: inspect that destination’s received stream during a test, including audio routing and the selected output. Check the platform’s and any plugin or relay’s current setup instructions; configurations differ.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube channel built around prerecorded video that should stay live 24/7, StreamNeo uploads and loops your videos from the cloud. It is not a way to multistream a camera-based OBS broadcast or send a live feed to other platforms.
- Upload a recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the content in the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on.
Each slot supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. Start your free StreamNeo day.
