Mega Crit says Slay the Spire 2 is Steam Deck compatible, but its official guidance does not publish a Deck-specific graphics preset, SteamOS settings, or performance benchmarks. The practical advice is to check the game’s current compatibility status, start with its defaults, and treat any tuning as something to verify on your own Deck—not as a proven optimal configuration.
What Steam Deck compatibility means for Slay the Spire 2
Mega Crit’s FAQ answers “Is StS2 Steam Deck compatible?” with “Yes!” That confirms the developer considers the game compatible, but it is not a measurement of frame rate, battery life, or performance on a particular Deck model.
Valve’s Steam Deck categories have specific criteria. A Verified game should support the Deck’s default resolution—1280×800 or 1280×720—have good default settings, and display legible text. Valve also considers controller input, seamless operation, and system support. See Valve’s compatibility criteria for how Verified, Playable, Unsupported, and Unknown are defined. Mega Crit’s compatibility answer does not establish the game’s current Valve rating; check the live Steam store page or the game’s status in your Deck library.
Which settings should you change?
The official sources do not specify an optimal resolution, frame-rate cap, refresh rate, TDP limit, Proton version, or graphics preset for the Steam Deck. Without Deck testing, naming one as the best setting would be guesswork. Start with the game’s defaults, then change one setting at a time only if you observe a problem, such as unreadable text or inconsistent performance. Keep a note of the original value so you can restore it.

If you compare settings yourself, judge the trade-offs under the same game build and Deck model: frame pacing, battery draw, fan noise, readability, and controls. Results from one configuration should not be treated as a universal recommendation for every Deck or future game update.
Why advice may change
Slay the Spire 2 launched in Early Access on Steam on March 5, 2026. Steam explains that Early Access games are incomplete and may change; the Steam listing says the full version is planned to add content, bug fixes, greater hardware compatibility, and other changes. Mega Crit’s FAQ lists the Early Access build on Steam for PC, macOS, and Linux.

In an update dated April 17, 2026, Mega Crit listed bug fixing and compatibility and performance improvements among its ongoing work, without firm dates. That is a dated progress update, not a guarantee about a later patch or a description of current Deck performance. After a game update, recheck the live listing and your own results before relying on old settings advice.
