Fallout: London is a free total-conversion mod for Fallout 4, not a standalone game. To play it, you need Fallout 4 with every downloadable-content pack—or Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition—on GOG or Steam. GOG is the simpler route because its supported build is directly compatible. Steam players must first revert Fallout 4 to version 1.10.163.0, the pre-next-gen build required by Team FOLON.
What you need before installing
- A Windows PC. The official listing specifies Windows support; console versions are not supported.
- Fallout 4 with all DLC, or Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition, purchased on GOG or Steam.
- At least 65 GB of free storage, including the Fallout 4 installation. An SSD is recommended for faster loading and fewer streaming problems.
- Cloud saves disabled for Fallout 4 and Fallout: London.
- A clean Fallout 4 installation, especially on Steam, to reduce conflicts with other mods and old save files.
Team FOLON’s official description defines the project as a total conversion made for Fallout 4 GOTY. You still own and launch Fallout 4, but the mod replaces the game world and content with its London setting.

Install Fallout: London on GOG
GOG provides the least complicated installation because the compatible Fallout 4 build is available without the Steam downgrade step.

- Install the English version of Fallout 4: GOTY Edition through GOG Galaxy or the GOG offline installer. If you own the separate base game, ensure every required DLC pack is installed.
- Open Fallout 4’s settings in GOG and disable cloud saves. Fallout 4 and Fallout: London use shared save locations, so synchronisation can move or overwrite saves between the two games.
- Add Fallout: London to your GOG library from its official listing. The mod itself is free.
- Install Fallout: London and start its launcher.
- Follow the launcher’s prompts to select the Fallout 4 installation and complete the mod setup. Use the launcher for subsequent starts and updates.
If the installer cannot find Fallout 4, verify that the game is installed in the location shown in GOG Galaxy, then point the launcher to that folder manually. Avoid adding unrelated mods until Fallout: London starts successfully.
Install Fallout: London on Steam
Steam ownership works, but the current next-generation Fallout 4 update is not the build required by the mod. You must use the pre-next-gen version 1.10.163.0.

- Install Fallout 4 with all DLC, or the Steam GOTY edition.
- Turn off Steam Cloud for Fallout 4 before changing versions. Shared save locations make cloud synchronisation a common source of conflicts.
- Use Team FOLON’s official downgrade workflow or downgrader guidance to return Fallout 4 to version 1.10.163.0. Confirm the executable version after the process finishes.
- Use a clean Fallout 4 installation for the mod. Remove or temporarily move other Fallout 4 mods and test with the base downgraded files first.
- Install Fallout: London with Team FOLON’s dedicated launcher and follow its prompts to locate the downgraded Steam installation.
- Launch the conversion through the Team FOLON launcher. Do not let Steam silently update Fallout 4 back to the next-gen build.
If Steam updates the game, repeat the downgrade before launching Fallout: London. A mismatch between the mod and the executable can prevent startup or produce broken scripts and assets.

Save files, mod conflicts and safe first launch
- Back up existing Fallout 4 saves before installing the conversion.
- Keep cloud synchronisation disabled so Fallout 4 and Fallout: London cannot overwrite one another through the same save directory.
- Start with a clean Fallout 4 installation. Reintroduce other mods only after confirming that London launches and saves correctly.
- Use a separate character for Fallout: London rather than loading a conventional Fallout 4 save.
- Keep enough free disk space beyond the 65 GB listing so the installer and temporary files can complete.
Troubleshooting the most common failures
The launcher says Fallout 4 is incompatible
On Steam, check that the game is really on version 1.10.163.0 and that Steam has not reinstalled the next-gen executable. On GOG, confirm that you installed the English GOTY-compatible build and selected the correct game folder.

The game starts Fallout 4 instead of London
Open Fallout: London from Team FOLON’s launcher, verify its Fallout 4 path, and remove other launchers or mod managers from the test setup. A clean installation makes it easier to identify a wrong path.
Saves are missing or keep changing
Disable cloud saves in the relevant store client and stop switching between Fallout 4 and Fallout: London while synchronisation is enabled. Restore the backed-up saves only after both installations are stable.
