You can play modern God of War on an iPhone, iPad, or Android device by streaming it from a PS4, PS5, or gaming PC—but there is no official native phone version of God of War (2018) or God of War Ragnarök. Own a PlayStation and the game? Start with Sony’s free PS Remote Play app. Own the PC version on Steam? Stream it with Steam Link. Both methods require the host machine to run the game; neither works as offline, local mobile play.

Sony lists God of War (2018) for PS4 and PC, and God of War Ragnarök for PS4, PS5, and PC—not as native iOS or Android games. See Sony’s franchise page for current platform listings. Streaming mirrors the game running elsewhere; it does not install the full game on your phone.
Method 1: Stream from a PS4 or PS5 with PS Remote Play
PS Remote Play is the simplest option if you already own the console version. You need a PS4, PS4 Pro, PS5, or PS5 Digital Edition with current system software, the game installed on that console, a PlayStation Network account, and the free PS Remote Play app from the App Store or Google Play. Menu wording can vary slightly with system updates.

- On the console, open Settings → System → Remote Play and turn on Enable Remote Play.
- To let the app wake the console from Rest Mode, go to Settings → System → Power Saving → Features Available in Rest Mode. Enable Stay Connected to the Internet and Enable Turning on PS5 from Network.
- Install the game and leave the PS5 on or in Rest Mode.
- Install PS Remote Play on your phone or tablet. Sign in with the same PlayStation Network account as the console, choose PS5, and follow the pairing instructions.
- Connect a compatible controller if you have one, then launch the game from the console interface shown in the app.
Prepare a PS4
- Open Settings → Remote Play Connection Settings and enable Enable Remote Play.
- For easier connection, open Settings → Account Management → Activate as Your Primary PS4 and activate it if applicable.
- Go to Settings → Power Save Settings → Set Features Available in Rest Mode. Turn on Stay Connected to the Internet and Enable Turning on PS4 from Network.
- Install the game, then install PS Remote Play on your phone. Sign in to the same PlayStation Network account, choose PS4 in the app, and follow pairing instructions.
- Connect a controller or use the on-screen controls, then launch the game.
Your TV does not need to stay on. The console still has to be powered on or configured to wake from Rest Mode. Remote Play requires a PS4 or PS5; it is not a way to play a console game on a phone without the console. Sony’s Remote Play guide covers console setup and restrictions.

Check mobile-device compatibility
Sony’s current guidance lists iOS 14 or later for DualShock 4 over Bluetooth or touch controls, and iOS 14.5 or later for DualSense over Bluetooth. On Android, version 9 or later supports touch controls, version 10 or later supports DualShock 4 over Bluetooth, and version 12 or later supports DualSense. Check the app listing and Sony’s compatibility page for your particular device: requirements and support can change.
Method 2: Stream the Steam PC version with Steam Link
If you own God of War (2018) or Ragnarök on Steam and have a gaming PC capable of running it, you can stream the PC game to a phone with Steam Link. This route does not require a PlayStation, but it does require the PC. The game must be available in your Steam library; Steam Link is not a general-purpose way to stream an Epic Games Store copy.

- Install and run the game on your PC at least once, and make sure Steam is open and signed in.
- Install the Steam Link app on your phone and pair it with the PC by entering the code shown during setup.
- Connect a compatible wired or Bluetooth controller to the phone, if you have one.
- Select the game from the Steam library in Steam Link and start streaming. Keep the PC powered on while playing.

What you need for a good mobile session
- A reliable connection: Sony specifies 5 Mbps as the minimum internet speed for Remote Play and recommends 15 Mbps for a better experience. Those figures do not guarantee low lag: distance, congestion, Wi-Fi quality, and the full network path matter too.
- Prefer Wi-Fi at home: Test the connection near your router before relying on Remote Play away from home. Remote Play can use mobile data, but video streaming can consume a substantial amount of your allowance, and cellular conditions can cause lag, drops, or reduced image quality.
- Stabilize the host connection: If possible, connect the console or PC to the router with Ethernet. Use a strong 5-GHz Wi-Fi connection for the phone when available, and avoid competing downloads or streams.
- Use a physical controller for combat: Touch controls are available on compatible devices, but a DualSense, DualShock 4, or compatible mobile controller is much better suited to camera movement, aiming, and combat. A full-size controller may need a phone stand; a telescopic controller holds the phone between its grips.
- Plan for heat and battery use: Long streaming sessions can warm a phone and drain its battery. Keep it out of direct sun and avoid charging it in an enclosed space. Battery life depends on the phone, brightness, connection, and controller, so there is no reliable single runtime estimate.
If you already own a PlayStation controller, try it before buying an accessory. A mobile controller can make travel more convenient, but it does not replace the console or PC that runs the game.

Can you play without a PlayStation?
You can avoid a PlayStation if you have the PC version and a gaming PC: run the game on the PC directly or stream it to your phone with Steam Link. But if you have only a phone, there is no official route to install and locally run the modern mainline games.
Do not assume a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription automatically makes a game playable on a phone. Cloud streaming runs a game on Sony’s servers, while Remote Play streams from your own console. Support can depend on the game, edition, region, service catalog, and device. Sony’s store listing for Ragnarök labels PS5 cloud streaming as Premium-only, but that does not establish that every phone, account, or region can use it; Sony also excludes certain Premium-streamed games from Remote Play. Check the current regional listing and device support before subscribing solely for this purpose. The PlayStation Store listing and PS Plus page are the relevant starting points.

Troubleshooting Remote Play and streaming
The app cannot find the console
- Confirm the phone and console use the same PlayStation Network account.
- Make sure Remote Play is enabled and the console is on, or has the Rest Mode network-wake options enabled.
- Update the console system software and Remote Play app.
- Check that the phone and console are not on a guest network that isolates devices. Try pairing manually if automatic discovery fails.
The picture stutters or the connection drops
Test on the same home network first. Move closer to the router, connect the host console or PC by Ethernet, use 5-GHz Wi-Fi if available, and pause other downloads or streams. If you are on mobile data, try reducing streaming quality and check your carrier signal and data allowance. Public Wi-Fi may block device-to-device connections or require a captive-portal sign-in. Faster internet alone cannot eliminate lag if the route is congested or the host is far away.

Controls feel delayed
First compare a session on your home network with one elsewhere. Weak Wi-Fi, cellular congestion, distance from the host, Bluetooth interference, and streaming quality can all add delay. Improve the host’s wired connection, reduce stream quality, and connect the controller directly to the phone where supported. A different controller may help, but it cannot fix a slow network path.

The game is missing or will not launch
Verify that the correct console or Steam edition is installed and that you are signed into the account that owns it. Remote Play does not support every game; Sony lists exclusions for some games that require particular peripherals or must be streamed through PlayStation Plus Premium. Make sure you are trying to launch the installed console game—not treating a cloud-streaming listing as a Remote Play install.
Are God of War APKs or “mobile ports” legitimate?
Do not download unofficial APKs, ROM files, or purported mobile ports for the modern games. Sony does not list God of War (2018) or Ragnarök as native Android or iOS releases. Files from random download pages may be fraudulent, unsafe, infringing, or simply nonfunctional. Get apps from the Apple App Store, Google Play, Sony, or Steam, and treat a page that asks for suspicious installers or account credentials as a warning sign.
The franchise also includes older console and handheld releases and historical mobile spin-offs, but those are not equivalent to an official current phone release of the modern mainline games. Sony lists God of War Sons of Sparta as a PS5 game released February 12, 2026, not a phone game; God of War Laufey is announced for PS5 without a release date listed on the franchise page. Check Sony’s current platform information rather than relying on a similarly named download.
