To reduce overheating risk during a long YouTube stream on Streamlabs Mobile, update the app and your phone, close other apps, keep the phone out of direct sun and hot surroundings, and avoid charging while live when practical. Test with a shorter stream before a planned broadcast. No single resolution, frame rate, bitrate, or stream length is established as safe for every phone. Ordinary warmth can happen during demanding camera use; if your device displays a temperature warning, stop streaming and follow the manufacturer’s cooling instructions.
How do I stop my phone from overheating while streaming on Streamlabs?
Start with the free, low-disruption steps below. They can reduce avoidable workload or exposure to heat, but none guarantees a particular phone will stay cool.
- Update Streamlabs Mobile and your phone’s operating system. This is a sensible first check before a long broadcast, though an update is not a guaranteed thermal fix.
- Close other open apps. Streamlabs recommends closing apps before going live to help device speed and reduce potential lag or crashes.
- Turn off nonessential notifications. Streamlabs recommends disabling notifications to avoid interruptions. Also reduce other screen activity that you do not need while streaming.
- Move to a cooler setting. Keep the phone out of direct sunlight and away from hot surroundings. Avoid placing it where heat can build up around the device.
- Avoid charging during the stream when practical. If battery life requires a charge, plan for breaks rather than assuming a charging phone will remain cool.
- Run a short test stream. Use the same phone, app setup, location, overlays, and network conditions you expect to use for the longer broadcast. Watch for heat or warnings before committing to a long session.
Streamlabs lets you configure video output resolution, expected frame rate, and maximum bitrate. The available guidance does not identify a specific value for any of these settings as a heat-reduction setting. If the phone becomes uncomfortably warm without a warning, you can cautiously test a lower stream quality or fewer demanding overlays on a later short broadcast; treat that as troubleshooting, not a proven or official thermal remedy.
Why does my phone get hot when I livestream to YouTube?
Live video can keep the camera, screen, network connection, and streaming software working for an extended period. High-quality video streaming and prolonged camera use can make a phone warm. Warmth alone does not establish that the phone is faulty, and the evidence here does not show that Streamlabs Mobile is generally the cause.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Heat can also interfere with a broadcast. Apple says a device that gets too warm may dim or turn off its display, weaken cellular signal, temporarily disable camera features, slow performance, or produce lower frame rates and longer processing times. Charging may slow or stop until the device cools. Any of these effects could interrupt a stream.
Apple’s guidance applies to iPhone and iPad. Android warning thresholds and model-specific procedures are not established here, so Android users should consult their device manufacturer’s instructions.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Can I charge my phone during a long stream?
When possible, avoid charging while live: Streamlabs recommends this, and Apple notes that charging can slow or stop if a device becomes too warm. If you need power, monitor the phone and be prepared to pause or end the broadcast if it overheats or displays a warning. Whether charging contributes to heat depends on the device and conditions; no universal safe charging setup is established here.
What should I do if my phone shows a temperature warning?
Take the warning seriously and stop the broadcast if necessary. Apple’s instructions for iPhone and iPad are to turn off the device, move it to a cooler place away from direct sunlight, and allow it to cool. Do not resume streaming until the warning has cleared and the device is ready for use. Apple’s support page says: “If your device doesn’t display a temperature warning, you can keep using your device.” That does not override a warning if one appears.

Google’s 2025 YouTube guide says livestreams up to 12 hours are automatically converted to video-on-demand; longer streams should be recorded for manual upload. That is archive guidance, not a phone endurance rating or a safe streaming duration. A handset’s ability to stream depends on its model, surroundings, workload, and software state.
Should you use a phone cooler?
A clip-on cooler is optional, not an evidence-proven fix for Streamlabs streaming. Apple advises moving a hot device to a cooler environment; that guidance does not establish that a fan or semiconductor cooler will work for a particular phone. If considering one, check exact phone and case fit, mounting stability, noise, power needs, and whether it blocks the camera, controls, or airflow. No measured temperature reduction or guaranteed result is established here.
