If your Tap Force team has stalled, don’t start by rebuilding your roster or spending scarce copies. Push Campaign for gold, XP, and better AFK rewards; concentrate leveling on a core six; and try a different formation before investing heavily. The best next move depends on where you’re stuck, because some modes scale enemies to your team’s highest levels.
The detailed thresholds and mode rules below come from TapForce Companion’s unofficial, fan-maintained Progression & First Month and Game Modes guides, not official developer documentation. Check your current in-game screens for rules, rates, and unlocks that may have changed.
Start with the mode where you’re stuck
A Campaign wall calls for a different response than a loss in an auto-leveled mode. First identify whether the problem is too little damage or your fighters being knocked out too early; that distinction helps you choose between a roster investment and a low-cost formation experiment.
| Where you’re stuck | What to try next | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Campaign | Change formation, collect AFK rewards, and strengthen your core six before trying again. | The guide describes Campaign as an early source of gold and XP, with higher stages improving AFK rewards. Source: Combat Codex, Game Modes |
| Hard Mode, Sewers, or Club Smash | Check whether a fighter outside your core six is raising the level used for auto-leveling. | The guide says both sides are leveled to your sixth-highest fighter in these modes. Source: Combat Codex, Progression & First Month |
Push Campaign before making a drastic rebuild
The Combat Codex recommends treating Campaign as an early progression priority: it supplies gold and XP, and advancing improves AFK rewards. When a stage defeats your team, rearrange the fighters before assuming you need a new lineup. Try putting a durable fighter up front and moving damage dealers toward the back. Formation changes are a cheap test of whether survival, rather than raw roster strength, is the problem.

- Collect offline rewards. If the new arrangement still fails, claim AFK rewards rather than repeatedly attacking the same wall.
- Invest in the core team. Use available levels and equipment on your main six, then return to the stage.
The guide describes Campaign scaling becoming harsher around stage 1,400 and greater crowd-control pressure past stage 1,500; it lists 1,800 stages. These are guide-reported descriptions, not guarantees about the current build or what any individual player will reach. Combat Codex: Game Modes
Concentrate leveling on six fighters in auto-leveled modes
According to the Combat Codex, Hard Mode, Sewers, and Club Smash set both teams’ levels to your sixth-highest fighter. That makes an extra high-level fighter outside your main six a possible liability: it can raise the level enemies receive without giving your active team a corresponding advantage.

Build a dependable core six first. The guide suggests leaving other fighters at level 80 when they need weapon access, and not leveling them above the core six in those auto-leveled modes. Check the current mode rules in-game before relying on this behavior, since the source is an unofficial guide and mechanics can change. Combat Codex: Progression & First Month
Plan around unlocks, not just higher levels
Levels can unlock useful capabilities, so consider whether bringing a core fighter to a threshold will help more than spreading resources across extra fighters. The Combat Codex lists these milestones:

| Guide-reported level | Reported milestone | How to use it in planning |
|---|---|---|
| 80 | Weapon access | Consider this when deciding whether a fighter outside your core six needs levels for equipment. |
| 180 | Master rank and fourth-skill unlock | Prioritize a key fighter’s milestone if the added skill would address your team’s needs. |
| 240 | Grandmaster, second dragon slot, and charm unlock | Think of this as a deeper investment in a core fighter rather than a reason to level everyone evenly. |
| 280 | GM+IV endgame benchmark | This is the guide’s endgame reference point, not a requirement for ordinary early progress. |
These thresholds are reported by the fan guide, whose publication date is not stated; they are not independently verified official documentation. Confirm the unlocks shown on your fighter and promotion screens. Combat Codex: Progression & First Month
Keep elite copies out of the food pile
The Combat Codex distinguishes elite fighters with four skills from three-skill food fighters and advises keeping elites for your roster. Before fusing a copy, inspect its skill slots and the promotion screen so you understand exactly what will be consumed. The guide warns that a reset may reclaim listed upgrade resources but does not return copies consumed through fusion. Combat Codex: Beginner’s Guide

Build for survival and damage with the fighters you own
A useful team often needs damage dealers, support, and a durable front line, but the right balance depends on the mode and your actual roster. There is no responsible way to prescribe a personal best lineup from the title alone: that requires knowing your fighters, levels, promotion ranks, equipment, and the stage that is stopping you. Use formation first to test whether a front-line adjustment solves the immediate problem, then direct scarce upgrades to the six fighters you rely on most.
Be deliberate with gems and routine rewards
The Combat Codex reports five-orb pulls at 4,000 gems with a 7% Elite rate, and a 3% capsule rate. Those are guide-reported figures, not independently tested current rates; check the in-game price and rate display before spending. The guide recommends saving gems for orb pulls, but preserving elite copies and strengthening your current team may matter more than chasing a speculative roster fix. Use a simple decision rule for your next upgrade
- Campaign loss, fighters die early: change the front/back arrangement, claim AFK rewards, and improve survivability.
- Campaign loss, team survives but damage is low: invest in your main damage dealers or their equipment rather than leveling a broad bench.
- Stalled in Hard Mode, Sewers, or Club Smash: check your sixth-highest level and avoid raising a seventh fighter above the core six without a reason.
- Considering fusion: verify the fighter’s skills and the exact copy cost first; do not assume a reset restores fused copies.
- Considering a gem purchase: read the current in-game cost and odds before committing.
