How to Put a Podcast Archive in Order on YouTube in India—Without Manual Uploads

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For an on-demand podcast archive, connect the show’s RSS feed to a YouTube podcast in YouTube Studio. Select the back-catalog episodes to import, then set the podcast’s video order to oldest to newest for a serial show. YouTube makes videos from the show artwork and can automatically upload new episodes from the feed. This creates a playable podcast playlist—not a continuous live broadcast.

What this method does—and what it does not

YouTube’s RSS delivery is the relevant option if you want listeners to play podcast episodes on demand in sequence without manually uploading each one. YouTube describes a podcast as a playlist, with episodes as videos in that playlist. RSS delivery creates those videos from the show’s artwork, imports selected episodes, and can upload new episodes from the feed.

It does not turn the archive into a scheduled or always-on live stream. If you mean a broadcast that viewers join at a particular time, that is a separate encoder workflow. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance covers scheduled streams sent from an encoder; it does not document RSS import as a way to broadcast an archive playlist continuously.

Check eligibility and prepare the feed

  • Channel location: YouTube lists India among the locations where RSS podcast delivery is available. Eligibility is based on the channel owner’s location, not the viewer’s. See YouTube’s RSS feed delivery guidance and its supported-locations information.
  • Working RSS feed: Make sure the feed contains the episodes you want to import and has a valid email address you can access. YouTube sends a verification code to the email address in the feed to confirm ownership.
  • Episode format: RSS delivery makes videos using the show’s art; it is not an audio-only MP3 upload route. YouTube says MP3 files alone cannot be used as podcast episodes.
  • Rights and eligibility: Use content you have the rights to distribute. YouTube says playlists containing content not owned by the creator may be ineligible for podcast features, and copyright policy violations can affect eligibility.

Connect the RSS feed and import the archive

  1. Open the podcast in YouTube Studio. Create a podcast or select the existing podcast you want to use. For an existing podcast, YouTube documents the path as Content > Podcasts > podcast Details > RSS settings > Connect to RSS feed. Refer to YouTube’s RSS delivery instructions if the interface differs.
  2. Enter the RSS feed and verify ownership. Follow Studio’s prompts. Retrieve the verification code sent to the email address listed in the feed and enter it to confirm that you control the show.
  3. Choose the back-catalog episodes. Select the episodes you want YouTube to ingest. To avoid duplicates, start after the newest episode that is already on YouTube. Initially selected RSS episodes upload as private, so you can review them before publishing.
  4. Choose visibility for future episodes. Set the default visibility for new episodes to Private, Unlisted, or Public. Review imported videos before making them public, including for copyright or monetization issues.
  5. Publish when ready. Check the imported episodes and podcast details, then publish the podcast. You can review episode order and visibility in Studio.

Put a serial archive in oldest-to-newest order

In YouTube Studio, open the podcast’s details and choose its default video order. For a show meant to be heard from its beginning, choose oldest to newest. YouTube recommends this order for serial podcasts, and the order can be changed later. See YouTube’s guidance on creating a podcast.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Check the dates as well as the displayed sequence. RSS episodes are sorted by their release date when the feed provides one; otherwise, YouTube uses the YouTube publish date. YouTube says RSS release dates are not verified, so missing or incorrect dates can produce an unexpected chronological order. Correct the feed dates where possible, then review the playlist order in Studio.

What happens after setup

  • New feed episodes: YouTube can automatically upload new episodes from the connected feed. Subscribers who are eligible may be notified about these new episodes.
  • Imported back catalogue: YouTube does not notify subscribers when back-catalog episodes are added through RSS.
  • Changed audio: Replacing an episode’s audio file in the RSS feed does not automatically update a video already published on YouTube. You must re-upload that episode from RSS.
  • Other podcast platforms: YouTube’s RSS delivery distributes the podcast to YouTube and YouTube Music; it does not distribute it to other platforms.
  • Promotional content: YouTube says RSS-delivered podcast content cannot contain advertisements. If an episode includes branded content, a host-read promotion, sponsorship, or endorsement, disclose it and follow YouTube’s applicable policies.

If you meant a scheduled live broadcast

An ordered podcast playlist serves on-demand listening. For a broadcast at a set time, use YouTube’s separate live-stream workflow: schedule the stream in YouTube Studio and send the live feed from an encoder using the stream URL and stream key. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That archive is not the same as importing and ordering podcast episodes from RSS. See YouTube’s encoder live-stream instructions.
