You can keep weekday and weekend YouTube Live replays in separate playlists, but YouTube’s documented workflow is manual: create the playlists, then add each completed stream archive to the appropriate one. The official guidance reviewed does not describe automatic assignment based on the day a stream airs.
What you can—and can’t—automate
A YouTube Live replay is an archived video. YouTube recommends organizing live-stream archives and highlight clips into playlists after an event. That gives you a straightforward way to separate weekday replays from weekend ones, but the documented guidance does not provide a weekday/weekend routing rule.
Scheduling a live stream is a separate task. YouTube lets creators schedule streams and reuse previous stream settings; a scheduled stream may appear as upcoming in subscribers’ feeds, where viewers can choose “Notify me.” Those setup and promotion features do not establish that a resulting replay will be assigned to a playlist automatically.
Set up two replay playlists

Create two playlists with names your viewers can understand, such as Weekday Live Replays and Weekend Live Replays.

Choose a consistent rule for streams that cross midnight or begin late in the evening. For example, you might classify a replay by the day the stream began. This is your organizing convention, not a YouTube setting.

Use the same naming and assignment rule for each new archive so viewers can predict where to find it.

Two playlists make the day-based split clear. If viewers are more likely to browse all past broadcasts in one place, a single archive playlist may be easier to navigate. Consider your stream frequency, how much content you publish, and whether your programming is tied to particular days when choosing a sustainable schedule.
Add each completed stream archive to the right playlist

Open YouTube Studio, select Content, then open the Live tab to find the completed stream archive.

Open the archive’s details. Review visibility and any other metadata you want to update.

Add the archive to the weekday or weekend playlist according to your chosen rule, then save your changes.

YouTube’s official post-event guidance recommends organizing archives and highlight clips into playlists. The exact interaction for adding a replay to a playlist may vary with the current Studio interface; use the playlist controls available for the archive you are editing.

If you change your streaming schedule, let viewers know so the playlist split and your publishing cadence remain understandable.

Scheduling and reusing stream settings can streamline recurring broadcasts, but still treat replay sorting as a separate post-event step.
Archive limits to plan around
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so do not rely on YouTube to preserve an especially long broadcast. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive as a backup. For a stream that must be available as a replay, plan the recording and backup before going live.
