Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Recover a YouTube 24/7 stream by tracing the failure in order: confirm the VPS is powered on and reachable, restart the encoder process if it stopped, then verify YouTube is receiving a healthy feed in Live Control Room. A power cut can affect the server, network, encoder, or YouTube ingest separately, so changing the stream key first is rarely the best diagnostic step.
1. Check whether the VPS is online
Try SSH, then the provider dashboard
- Connect to the VPS using your usual SSH command. If SSH works, log in and continue to the encoder checks below.
- If SSH is unavailable, sign in to your VPS provider’s dashboard. Check the instance’s power state and look for a regional service incident or maintenance notice.
- If the VPS appears powered on but has no network access, use the provider’s browser, serial, or recovery console if one is available. Console names and procedures differ by provider.
For example, DigitalOcean documents a Recovery Console for cases such as lost VM network connectivity or a failed SSH service. Its instructions apply to DigitalOcean, not automatically to an Indian VPS from another host: DigitalOcean Recovery Console documentation.
If the VPS will not boot
Use your provider’s recovery procedure rather than repeatedly power-cycling the machine. DigitalOcean documents booting to a Recovery ISO and using tools such as fsck for filesystem recovery after abrupt shutdown-related corruption. These steps are provider-specific; follow your host’s guidance and contact its support team if the filesystem or boot state is unclear: DigitalOcean Recovery ISO documentation.
2. Find out whether the encoder is running
Identify the process or service used by your setup
Once logged in, check the encoder process or service name that your installation actually uses. Inspect its current state and recent system logs to determine whether it stopped during the outage, failed while booting, or is still running but unable to send data.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Restart the identified service or encoder command if it is stopped, using the procedure for your installation. There is no universal service name or restart command for every VPS and encoder, so do not copy a guessed command into a production server. Avoid sharing logs or screenshots that expose the stream key or other credentials.
Check startup behavior for next time
For a Linux systemd setup, an operator can configure the encoder service to start at boot and restart after failure. The unit and retry behavior must fit the installed encoder and Linux distribution. Validate the configuration during a planned maintenance window; do not assume that restarting the VPS alone will bring the stream back.

3. Verify the encoder’s connection to YouTube
Check egress and encoder settings
- Confirm the VPS can reach the public internet and that outbound traffic is not blocked by a firewall or provider network policy.
- Confirm the encoder software is running and that it is configured with the YouTube Live server URL and stream key for the intended stream. YouTube’s setup guidance says: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.” YouTube: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
- Use the stream key shown in YouTube Live Control Room; avoid changing it unless you have evidence it is incorrect or compromised. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance recommends checking the stream key, encoder software, and outbound internet connection: YouTube live streaming troubleshooting.
Confirm YouTube is receiving data
- Open YouTube Live Control Room for the stream.
- Check the preview and stream health indicator to see whether new encoder data is arriving. YouTube shows stream errors with timestamps, which can help match a failure to the VPS outage.
- Check the public watch page separately. A healthy encoder connection does not by itself establish that the original watch page has resumed or that viewers see the expected broadcast.
For the configuration issue covered by YouTube’s error guidance, use H.264 video and AAC audio. See YouTube’s stream troubleshooting and error guidance.
4. Check RTMPS if your encoder uses it
If you reconnect using RTMPS, use the RTMPS server URL displayed in your channel’s Live Control Room rather than a URL copied from an unrelated setup. YouTube specifies the rtmps protocol; where needed, check that the connection can use port 443 and that the encoder supports RTMPS. See YouTube: Stream using RTMPS.

5. Understand what may happen to the broadcast
Restoring encoder output does not guarantee that YouTube will resume the same broadcast session or public watch page. YouTube’s encoder help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, but that does not establish how every 24/7 stream behaves after a power outage or restart. Check the Live Control Room and watch page rather than assuming continuity: YouTube: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
Troubleshooting by symptom
| What you see | Likely layer to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| SSH does not connect | VPS power state, network access, or SSH service | Check the provider dashboard and status notices, then use its recovery console if available. |
| The VPS is online, but the stream has stopped | Encoder process or service | Check the actual process or service state and logs; restart it using the procedure for your installation. |
| The encoder runs but YouTube shows no incoming data | Outbound connectivity, server URL, stream key, or encoder | Test VPS internet access, then verify the URL and key in Live Control Room and the encoder’s settings. |
| Live Control Room reports a configuration error | Video or audio format | For the documented configuration issue, use H.264 video and AAC audio, then check the preview and health indicator again. |
| RTMPS connection fails | Protocol, port, or encoder support | Use the RTMPS URL shown in Live Control Room; verify rtmps, port 443 where needed, and encoder compatibility. |
| The VPS does not boot or reports filesystem trouble | Boot or filesystem recovery | Follow the VPS provider’s recovery process; do not apply another provider’s disk-repair procedure without checking compatibility. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep a YouTube channel live with uploaded video rather than recover an encoder running on your VPS, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or make a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. Every slot streams uploaded video at the quality it was made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; StreamNeo can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. This is for uploaded videos and YouTube streams, not camera-based live broadcasting. Start a free day with StreamNeo.
