To remove your webcam background with NVIDIA’s effect, turn on Background Removal in the NVIDIA Broadcast app, then select Camera (NVIDIA Broadcast) as the camera in your video-call or streaming app. Broadcast processes the live camera feed; this workflow does not remove backgrounds from still images.
Check whether your PC is compatible
NVIDIA’s listed requirements include Windows 10 64-bit, at least 8 GB of RAM, and a GeForce RTX 2060, Quadro RTX 3000, TITAN RTX, or higher. NVIDIA lists an NVIDIA Studio Driver R570, Game Ready Driver R570, or NVIDIA RTX Enterprise Driver R570 or later. Its recommended CPU is an Intel Core i5 8600, AMD Ryzen 5 2600, or higher. These vendor requirements can change, so confirm the current list before installing or buying hardware on NVIDIA’s Broadcast page.
NVIDIA’s FAQ also specifies driver 570.xx or later and an internet connection during installation, when the app downloads AI models for the GPU. See NVIDIA’s Broadcast FAQ. If your system does not meet the listed requirements, the effect may not be available; do not assume that adding a webcam or green screen will make an unsupported GPU compatible.
Install Broadcast and choose a background effect

Download and install NVIDIA Broadcast from NVIDIA’s official product page. Keep the PC connected to the internet during installation so it can download the required AI models.

Open NVIDIA Broadcast and choose your physical webcam as the camera input.

Enable the camera effect you want: Background Removal to remove the visible background, Background Replacement to show a replacement background, or Background Blur to soften the background.

Check the camera preview in Broadcast. Its setup guide describes previewing the webcam feed and comparing the result before using it in another app: NVIDIA Broadcast App Setup Guide.
NVIDIA describes these as webcam effects, but the reviewed product information does not guarantee identical edge quality in every situation. Check the preview with your actual camera and surroundings rather than expecting a perfect result in all lighting, movement, or hair conditions.

Route the processed camera into your call or stream

Open the camera or video settings in the app you plan to use, such as your video-conferencing or streaming software.

Set the camera device to Camera (NVIDIA Broadcast), not the physical webcam. Broadcast creates virtual devices; choosing its camera sends the processed feed to the other application.

Preview the camera in the destination app before starting your call or stream. If you see the unprocessed background, check that the destination app is using the NVIDIA Broadcast camera and that the intended effect remains enabled in Broadcast.
Troubleshoot a missing or unprocessed image

The effect or app is unavailable: Recheck NVIDIA’s current system and driver requirements, including the supported RTX-class GPU and driver 570.xx or later. Confirm internet access during installation so the GPU-specific models can download.

The call or stream shows the original background: In the destination app’s camera settings, select Camera (NVIDIA Broadcast) instead of the physical webcam. Also verify that the effect is enabled in Broadcast.

The camera preview does not look right: Compare the preview before joining the call, and check the selected physical camera input and effect. NVIDIA’s cited setup information does not promise flawless removal under every lighting or movement condition.
