Enchanted gear is subject to an Armorer requirement, but the precise threshold in Oblivion Remastered is not settled by the available sources. Repairing an item’s condition also does not mean restoring its depleted magical charge.
Repair damaged armor and weapons with a Repair Hammer
- Open your inventory and use a Repair Hammer.
- In the repair interface, select the damaged weapon or armor piece you want to fix. The exact controls may vary by platform.
- Check the item’s condition afterward. Repair Hammers are in-game items; real-world tools do not affect your equipment.
Bethesda identifies Armorer as the skill governing weapon and armor repair in its Remastered skill guide. Remastered-focused guides describe using Repair Hammers through the inventory repair interface, but Bethesda’s page does not provide those step-by-step controls.
Can you repair enchanted items?
Enchanted equipment has an Armorer proficiency gate. The original Oblivion PC manual says a Novice cannot repair magic items and that the ability becomes available at Journeyman; reference material places Journeyman in the 50–74 skill band. That is a rule documented for the original game, not proof of the Remastered threshold.
Remastered guides and player reports disagree: one guide puts the requirement at Armorer 50, while other Remastered material points to 25. Bethesda’s Remastered skill guide does not specify a threshold. Check the Armorer perk description in your own game and build rather than treating either number as confirmed for every Remastered version.

Repairing condition is not recharging an enchantment
A Repair Hammer addresses equipment durability. It should not be treated as a way to replenish a weapon’s depleted magical charge: the sources cited here do not establish the charge-restoration method. If a weapon’s enchantment has run out, look for the game’s separate charge-restoration option rather than repeatedly attempting a durability repair.

The original PC manual describes two additional benefits: Expert Armorer can repair equipment above its normal maximum condition, up to 125%, and Master Armorer repair hammers never break. Those are original-game manual rules; they are not independently confirmed here for Oblivion Remastered, so verify the relevant perk description in-game before relying on them.

- Bethesda’s Remastered skill guide establishes Armorer’s repair role but does not spell out the repair sequence or enchanted-item threshold.
- The original Oblivion PC manual documents the legacy Journeyman, Expert, and Master rules; those should not automatically be assumed to apply unchanged in Remastered.
- Remastered-specific reports offer conflicting threshold figures, so the in-game perk description is the most useful check for a player’s current build.
