A destroyed vehicle is a recovery case, not a normal repair. Keep those systems separate, because repairs and recovery can reduce maximum durability.
Repairing equipment and carried items
Equipment durability is a resource: using an item wears it down, and repairing it can also reduce its maximum durability. Funcom’s Chapter 3 patch notes report that equipment Repair Wear’s maximum-durability reduction was lowered from 20% to 15% in the February 2026 hotfix section. Treat those figures as patch-specific, not as a guarantee for every item or future version.
The patch notes describe wear changes, not a complete, current repair recipe and button-by-button guide for every item. Check the item’s current in-game prompt and repair interface before committing materials. If an item’s maximum durability is already reduced, weigh the cost of another repair against replacing or continuing to use it.
Repairing damaged vehicle modules
For a damaged vehicle module, the community-maintained Awakening Wiki lists a Welding Torch and Welding Wire as the repair tools and material. Confirm the live-game tooltip and required materials before starting, since the detailed item procedure comes from a secondary reference.

Choosing a Welding Torch
The wiki lists repair-quality values of Mk1 at 76%, Mk3 at 83%, and Mk5 at 90%, and describes higher repair quality as limiting maximum-durability loss. These are wiki-listed values, not independently verified current in-game specifications; check the tooltips for the version you are playing.
If you have a choice, compare the torch’s listed quality with its crafting and resource cost. A higher-quality torch may reduce lasting durability loss, but the wiki figures alone do not establish whether crafting or acquiring one is worthwhile for your particular module.

Recovering a destroyed vehicle
When a vehicle is destroyed, use the Vehicle Backup Tool’s Recovery Mode if the vehicle is eligible. Funcom’s vehicle recovery announcement describes this as a separate feature with Solari and maximum-durability costs. It also says the vehicle’s stored inventory is not recovered.
The 2025 announcement specified a 72-hour recovery window. Because that is a version-sensitive rule, check the current in-game recovery screen for the active eligibility window and cost rather than assuming the historical figure still applies.

Replacing building pieces and restoring a base
Replace a compatible piece
Funcom’s official update announcement says the Construction Tool has a Replace mode for swapping a building piece with another compatible piece. Use it when you want to change or upgrade a piece. This is not evidence that Replace mode repairs all damage to a structure; check the live tool options for the piece you are targeting.
Back up or reconstruct a whole base
The Base Reconstruction Tool is a different system from vehicle backup. Funcom’s public test documentation describes backing up and restoring a base, including land claims, placeables and their storage contents, water, blood, crafting queues, and settings. The same documentation says vehicles cannot be backed up with this tool; vehicle recovery uses the separate Vehicle Backup Tool. Because the documentation describes a public test, confirm current live-game limits and contents before relying on a backup.

Repair Station caution
The community wiki describes a placeable Repair Station with vehicle access and says repairs lower maximum durability, but the available details do not establish its exact scope or when to use it. Check its current in-game description rather than treating it as a universal repair method.
