You cannot save all 54 characters counted in Prima Games’ survivor guide: Russell always dies during Case 6-1. You can rescue the mall survivors, protect several story-linked characters under specific conditions, and reach the 50-rescue threshold for the Saint achievement or trophy. The chronological checklist below follows Prima Games’ guide, published September 23, 2024; its route details are guide-reported, not firsthand testing.
What “every survivor” means—and what Saint requires
Prima Games reports 54 survivors overall, including six special story characters, and says 48 are rescuable through mall exploration. Its guide identifies 50 rescues as the Saint threshold. Those figures describe the guide’s accounting; they do not mean all 54 characters can be saved. Russell is not rescuable: he dies in Case 6-1.
The route below lists the guide’s mall-rescue targets in chronological order. Treat it as a checklist of encounters and prerequisites, not a promise that every named character counts toward Saint in every playthrough. The six special cases are explained separately below.
How to manage escorts and timed Scoops
Recruit survivors and keep the group together
Talk to a survivor and meet any individual condition to recruit them, then escort them to the Security Room. Depending on the person, that may mean convincing them, giving them an item, defeating a boss, restoring a relationship, or showing evidence. Some survivors cannot walk unassisted: carry them, support them, or lead them by the hand when needed.

Use the Scoop Cue and Frank’s watch to check survivor status, affinity, favorite items, and remaining time. The official Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Web Manual describes Scoop time bands as at least six hours, under six hours, under three hours, or no time limit. You can place one Case marker and three Scoop markers at a time.
When you have a group, call followers to Frank or set a goal marker and watch their position before changing areas. Crossing into another area can leave recruited followers behind; survivors left behind gradually lose health. Return each group to the Security Room before moving on whenever the route allows. Capcom’s manual says: “Escort them back to the Security Room to gain a large amount of PP.”

Use favorite items and save before risky segments
Each survivor has three favorite items. A liked weapon increases that survivor’s attack power; liked food fully restores health. Liked items also improve morale and can make survivors more proactive.
Capcom’s manual describes autosaves at certain points and manual save locations including the Security Room sofa and public restrooms. Save before difficult boss encounters or time-sensitive route segments. At save points, the game can fast-forward time when requirements are met, but a communication can interrupt a normal fast-forward.

Food Court and Wonderland Plaza

- Leroy: Find him in a store at the southern end of Wonderland Plaza near Susan.
Paradise Plaza: the Kent deadline and Simone

- Simone: Find her in Paradise Plaza. She joins only after Case 6-1 is complete and Isabela has been brought to the Security Room.
Prima Games describes Day 3 as having substantial downtime, but the before-noon Paradise Plaza deadline for Tad takes priority.
