If you have a Stealth 600 Gen 2 Xbox that is frozen, ignores button presses, or stays on a solid red LED, hold Connect and Mode together for a full 30 seconds. Release the buttons when the headset powers off, then press Power to restart it. This is Turtle Beach’s documented hard reset for that model—not a universal factory-reset command for every Stealth 600 revision.
Check your Stealth 600 model first
“Stealth 600” covers several headsets with different controls and wireless hardware. Confirm the model on its label, packaging, or in Turtle Beach Audio Hub before using a button combination.
| Model or setup | Connection clues | Reset guidance |
|---|---|---|
| Stealth 600 Gen 2 Xbox | Pairs directly with Xbox; has Connect and Mode buttons | Use the 30-second Connect + Mode hard reset below |
| Stealth 600 Gen 2 PS | Uses a wireless mini-transmitter connected to PlayStation | Do not assume the Xbox button combination applies |
| Original Stealth 600 for Xbox One | Uses Xbox Wireless pairing | Follow its model-specific support instructions |
| Gen 2 MAX, Gen 3, or another revision | Controls and firmware procedure can differ | Verify the exact model before resetting |

Hard-reset the Stealth 600 Gen 2 Xbox
- Leave the headset on or in its unresponsive state.
- Find the Connect and Mode buttons.
- Press and hold both buttons simultaneously.
- Keep holding for the complete 30 seconds. Do not release when nothing happens at first; holding slightly longer is preferable to stopping early.
- When the headset powers off, release both buttons.
- Press Power normally to turn it on.
- Test sound and microphone operation. If it does not reconnect, pair it again using the instructions below.
Turtle Beach documents this procedure for an unresponsive Gen 2 Xbox headset or one stuck on a solid red LED: official hard-reset instructions. It forces a shutdown; the documentation does not establish that it erases every EQ, volume, or other saved preference.

If the red LED or freeze remains
Repeat the timed hold
Perform the Connect-plus-Mode hold again and time the full 30 seconds. Releasing early can prevent the forced shutdown.
Charge and change the power source
- Connect the headset to power and allow it to charge.
- Try another USB port.
- If a computer port is unreliable, try a USB power adapter, as Turtle Beach recommends for this troubleshooting path.
Update firmware
Install Turtle Beach Audio Hub on Windows or Mac, open it, connect the headset with a USB data cable, and accept any offered firmware update. Keep the cable connected until the update finishes, then restart and pair again if needed. For Gen 2 Xbox, Turtle Beach identifies firmware updating as part of preventing recurring solid-red, unresponsive behavior: Gen 2 Xbox Audio Hub instructions.
Fully shut down the Xbox
- Hold the Xbox console’s Power button until it completely turns off.
- Do not use a quick press that only enters sleep mode.
- Turn the console back on. If it returns instantly to the dashboard rather than showing a full restart, repeat the shutdown.
These console steps are part of Turtle Beach’s Gen 2 Xbox recovery sequence: support article.
Pair the headset again
Xbox: Stealth 600 Gen 2 Xbox
- Turn on the headset and Xbox.
- Press the console’s Enroll/Pair button until its LED flashes rapidly.
- Hold the headset’s Connect button until its LED flashes rapidly.
- Wait for both LEDs to become solid. Confirm the headset is assigned to the intended Xbox profile if prompted.
Windows PC with an Xbox Wireless Adapter
- Plug the Xbox Wireless Adapter into the PC.
- Turn on the headset.
- Hold the adapter’s Enroll button until its LED flashes.
- Hold the headset’s Connect button until its LED flashes.
- Wait for solid LEDs.
Windows PC with built-in Xbox Wireless
Open Windows device settings, start adding an Xbox Wireless device, and hold the headset’s Connect button while Windows searches. The Gen 2 Xbox requires either a compatible Xbox Wireless Adapter or built-in Xbox Wireless; it is not a generic Bluetooth headset. On PC, Game and Chat volume controls do not operate separately in the same way as on Xbox. See Turtle Beach’s PC compatibility guide.

PlayStation: Stealth 600 Gen 2 PS
- Plug the wireless mini-transmitter into a PlayStation USB port.
- Turn on the headset.
- Open Settings → Devices → Audio Devices.
- Select Stealth 600 Gen 2 as both input and output.
- Set Output to Headphones to All Audio.
- Adjust headphone volume and use Adjust Microphone Level to calibrate the mic.
The Gen 2 PS connects through its transmitter rather than the Xbox-style direct console pairing. Its setup is documented in the Gen 2 PS quick-start guide. Unplug the transmitter when the headset is not in use.
Update firmware without using the wrong model
Audio Hub firmware is model-specific. Select the exact headset identified by the application, use the supplied or another known-good data-capable USB cable, and do not disconnect during installation. For the Gen 2 PS, connect both the headset and its mini-transmitter to two USB ports before checking for updates: Gen 2 PS Audio Hub instructions. For the original Xbox One model, see its Audio Hub guide.
Symptoms and the next response
| Symptom | Likely interpretation | Next response |
|---|---|---|
| Solid red LED; buttons do nothing | Frozen Gen 2 Xbox headset | Connect + Mode for 30 seconds |
| Turns off but will not reconnect | Wireless pairing was lost | Pair with the console, adapter, or transmitter again |
| Audio Hub cannot detect it | Cable, USB port, charge, driver, or hardware problem | Try a charged headset, another USB port, and another data cable |
| Audio works; microphone does not | Mic position, input selection, or firmware issue | Flip the mic down, check the platform input, and update firmware |
| Reset appears to do nothing | Buttons released early or wrong model | Confirm the model and repeat the timed procedure |
When a reset is not enough
A hard reset cannot repair a failed battery, damaged USB port, defective transmitter, broken button, console wireless fault, speaker, or microphone. If the correctly identified headset will not charge, power on, appear in Audio Hub, or respond after the reset, cable, port, firmware, and pairing checks, contact Turtle Beach support or use applicable warranty service.

Does this hard reset delete my settings?
Turtle Beach documents it as a hard reset that forces the headset off. The procedure does not establish that all saved preferences are erased.
Do I need to pair the headset again afterward?
Possibly. A hard reset can leave the wireless link unavailable, so re-pair it with Xbox, a PC adapter, or the Gen 2 PS transmitter when it does not reconnect.
Can I use the Xbox reset combination on a Gen 2 PS or Gen 3?
Do not assume so. Verify the exact model and use its model-specific documentation; the 30-second sequence is verified here for the Gen 2 Xbox.
Why is Audio Hub not detecting my headset?
Try a charged headset, another USB port, and a known-good data-capable cable. If detection still fails after the correct model and connection steps, hardware or USB problems are possible.
