For the original Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2, hold the Bluetooth button and Mode button together for 20 seconds. The headset should switch off; then press Power to restart it and re-pair it if necessary. This is a troubleshooting hard reset, not a confirmed full factory wipe of every saved setting. These steps are for the original Gen 2, not the separate Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX.
Before you reset
Check the model name first. The original Xbox and PlayStation editions use different wireless connection methods, while the Gen 2 MAX is a separate model family.
| Model | Console connection | What you need for PC wireless |
|---|---|---|
| Stealth 700 Gen 2 Xbox | Xbox Wireless or an Xbox Wireless Adapter | Built-in Xbox Wireless or an Xbox Wireless Adapter on most compatible PCs |
| Stealth 700 Gen 2 PlayStation | USB Mini Transmitter | The Mini Transmitter |
| Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX | Different model family | Do not assume these Gen 2 instructions apply |
See Turtle Beach’s compatibility guidance for the Xbox/PC model and PlayStation/PC model.
Charge the headset before testing. Disconnect unnecessary cables and accessories, but do not interrupt a firmware update. The hard reset is useful when controls stop responding, the headset will not power off, a solid red LED remains, pairing fails, or audio and microphone problems began after a connection fault. It cannot repair a failed battery, damaged USB port, broken transmitter, liquid damage, speaker or microphone failure, or incorrect console audio routing.

How to hard-reset the Stealth 700 Gen 2
- Power on the headset if it still responds.
- Find the Bluetooth button and the Mode button.
- Press and hold both buttons at the same time for a full 20 seconds.
- Keep holding even if the headset takes several seconds to react. Releasing early may not trigger the reset.
- Release the buttons after the headset powers off, then wait a few seconds.
- Press the Power button to start it again.
- Test sound and microphone operation, then re-pair the headset if the wireless link was lost.
The manuals describe this as a hard reset that forces the headset off and can clear certain fault states; they do not establish that it erases every EQ preset, button assignment, Bluetooth record, or other preference. If the LED remains solid red or the headset does not switch off, repeat the complete 20-second hold. Turtle Beach’s documented instructions favor holding too long over releasing too soon.
On Xbox support pages and user responses, the same control may be called the Xbox Pairing or Connect button. Use the physical button marked with the Bluetooth or wireless-pairing symbol on your headset, not the Power button. The manual’s reset combination is Bluetooth plus Mode. See the terminology in this Xbox support response.
What to do after the reset
A reset and a wireless pairing are separate actions. The reset restarts the headset’s internal state; pairing recreates its connection to an Xbox, transmitter, or Bluetooth device.

Re-pair the Xbox version
- Turn on the Xbox and the headset.
- Press the console’s Enroll/Pair button.
- Press and hold the headset’s Connect/pairing button.
- Wait for both LEDs to flash rapidly, then become solid. Solid LEDs indicate a successful connection.
The control layout and pairing sequence are shown in Turtle Beach’s Xbox Quick Start Guide.

- Connect the Mini Transmitter to a PlayStation USB port.
- Turn on the headset.
- Allow the headset and transmitter to search. They normally pair automatically and should connect in approximately 10 seconds.
- A double-blinking transmitter LED means it is searching. Solid blue LEDs on both devices indicate pairing.
- If they remain searching, power-cycle the headset and repeat the process.
Use Turtle Beach’s PlayStation pairing instructions and PlayStation Quick Start Guide.
Check PlayStation audio routing
On the console, open Settings → Devices → Audio Devices. Select the Stealth 700 Gen 2 as both input and output, set output to headphones for all audio, adjust headphone volume, and run microphone-level calibration if the mic is not working correctly.

Reconnect Bluetooth devices
The hard reset does not necessarily remove the headset from a phone, tablet, or computer’s saved Bluetooth list. If Bluetooth remains unreliable:
- Open the device’s Bluetooth settings and choose Forget, Remove, or Unpair for Stealth 700 Gen 2.
- Restart Bluetooth.
- Turn on the headset and hold the Bluetooth button until the pairing prompt plays.
- Select the headset again from the device list.
Bluetooth pairing mode times out after approximately two minutes if no connection is made, according to the Xbox and PlayStation quick-start guides.
Firmware recovery with Turtle Beach Audio Hub
Use Audio Hub when the headset stays unresponsive after the reset, pairing repeatedly fails, a fault began after an update, the red LED returns, or audio and microphone bugs continue. The button reset itself does not require a computer; firmware installation does.

Xbox model
- Install Turtle Beach Audio Hub for Windows or Mac.
- Open Audio Hub and connect the headset with a USB cable.
- Let the application detect the headset and offer available firmware.
- Install the update without disconnecting the headset.
- Fully restart the Xbox, then pair the headset again.
Turtle Beach’s Xbox support page displays firmware v2.0.3 dated January 1, 2021, including a microphone-mute bug fix. That is the version shown on that support page, not a guarantee of the newest release in 2026. Follow the current version offered by Audio Hub. Details are in the Xbox firmware instructions.
After firmware work, hold the Xbox console’s Power button until it fully shuts down rather than leaving it in Sleep mode. Turn it back on, confirm a full boot, pair the headset, and check that it is assigned to the correct Xbox profile.
PlayStation model
- Install Audio Hub on Windows or Mac.
- Connect the headset and Mini Transmitter to two separate USB ports on the computer.
- Open Audio Hub and let it detect both devices.
- Install any offered update, keeping both devices connected until it finishes.
- Reconnect the transmitter to the PlayStation and pair again if needed.
The PlayStation support page displays firmware v2.0.6 dated May 25, 2021, with a general console-audio bug fix. Treat that as the version listed on the cited page, not as a guaranteed current 2026 release. See the PlayStation firmware instructions. Never unplug the headset or transmitter during an update; interruption can create additional recovery problems.
If the headset still does not work
- Charge it for a reasonable period using another known-good USB port and, if available, another compatible data-capable cable.
- Repeat the 20-second Bluetooth-plus-Mode reset.
- Run Audio Hub and install any offered firmware for the headset and, on PlayStation, the transmitter.
- Fully shut down and restart the console.
- Re-pair the Xbox headset or PlayStation transmitter.
- Check console or Windows audio input and output routing.
- If there is still no response after charging, reset, firmware, and pairing checks, contact Turtle Beach support; hardware service may be required.
A missing LED alone does not prove the headset is permanently dead. Rule out a depleted battery, defective cable, inconsistent USB port, or damaged charging socket first. The manufacturer rates the rechargeable battery for up to 20 hours under stated conditions, but an older battery may no longer deliver that capacity.
Quick Recap
Common model and procedure mistakes
- Do not apply Stealth 600 Gen 2 instructions to the 700 Gen 2; Turtle Beach documents them separately. See the Stealth 600 support page.
- Do not treat the original Gen 2 and Gen 2 MAX as interchangeable.
- Do not call the 20-second procedure a guaranteed factory-settings wipe.
- Do not assume a successful reset means the headset is paired.
- For PlayStation, inspect the Mini Transmitter as well as the headset; a transmitter that keeps double-blinking is still searching.
- For PC, the Xbox model generally needs built-in Xbox Wireless or an Xbox Wireless Adapter, while the PlayStation model uses its Mini Transmitter.
